THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Just came back from the Cinema.

The movie was really interesting. It was pure chaos. The style was kinda unique. I think it totally doesn't look like a Japanese production.
Soundtrack was superb. Matched the chaos. XD

High-five, came back from the cinema today too!

This movie was great, it's honestly some of the best animation I've seen. I was skeptical of the stylised art at first, but it really fits all the exaggerated racing scenes. More standard anime art would not have fit the movie as well.

The soundtrack was orgasmic, it was very engaging and fit almost everyscene very well.I will definitely need to look up it's sound tracks. The story is where it failed. Freaking giant golden babies that had nothing to add to the plot comes out of nowhere to try and ruin the experience an awesome film. That made absolutely no sense, but then again we're not watching a racing anime movie for the plot.

Redline definitely lives up to its hype and I urge everyone to go watch it in a cinema if you can. The film deserves to be viewed with the best settings.

High octane soundtrack and a really high level of animation. The budget for it must've been really good for that much character and scene movement.

Just saw it, and wow, it was fantastic. Crazy fast action from start to finish, yet they also manage to put some heart into it as well. I want the OST *_*

Just got back from the Scotland Loves Animation in edinburgh, first day. We got Redline and One Piece: Strong World(which i'll mention there)

Redline was superb, there really is no other way to put it. The animation was breath taking, soundtrack matched the feel of the film, and the racing was action packed and an adrenaline rush...albeit utter chaos. Yeah, let's just say i know where my money is going once it has a release.

Was really lucky to be able to see this film in cinema (a small cinema that generally only shows obscure foreign films, but a cinema nonetheless) considering where I live, as it is extremely rare for us Australians to get any anime films released in cinema here (even Ghibli ones) and getting subbed ones is completely unheard of!

We were, however, lucky enough to get in on an event that showed us a few recent anime releases, (well, not really 'recent' for Redline, as somehow we were the premiere) and was I surprised!

Going in to Redline, I'd already seen King of Thorn, Eva2.0, and Summer Wars back-to-back that day; three excellent movies that I was sure Redline couldn't possibly top.
I was getting kind of tired of sitting in one spot for the entire day, by this time it was getting pretty late, and I must say, I expected the least from Redline out of all of the movies I'd seen there.
I was of course, pleasantly shocked to find it delivered the most.

It was amazing... not really any other way to describe it I don't think.
Everyone in the cinema laughed non-stop throughout the whole thing. Great stuff.

Out of all the movies mentioned it was the only one I ended up giving a surefire 10.
Though Summer Wars came in at a high 9 :P

Anyone know when we can find this for sale? I've been wanting this movie Bluray since the minute I walked out of the cinema.
If anyone finds out pleeeeaaase message meeeeee :'(

I'm desperate...

It isn't even out on DVD and Blu-ray in Japan yet.

So gutted I gave Redline a miss when I could have seen it at the cinema last year. What the hell was I thinking... :(

Got to see this great film today.
I was lost for words by the end due to how great it was.
Story was good.
Characters were cool, funny and sexy.
Music was awesome.
Ending was cheesy, but the good kind of cheesy.

The draw was the animation, it was just really damn great, everything had very small and intrinsic movement to it that just added to the over all effect. I'll have to get this on BD just to appreciate all the hard work that went into it.

Recently got back from seeing this on the big screen at the Barbican in London. The animation was sublime, the soundtrack was superb and the overall experience was just phenomenal... it's beyond words, really. Even the story and characters were absolutely top-notch despite the cliches. Redline sets out only to entertain and my does it succeed. My mind is blown.

Was pretty darn good. Only thing which I wasn't happy with was that stupid weird monster which appeared during REDLINE, I was like WTF. I think it would have been better if they left that bit out and kept it to the racing personally was incredibly exciting

Sometimes the character animation, mainly on Sonoshee was not consistant, some times she looked fine ;) and other times she didn't look right.

its an 8.5 for me. Better than any 8 film but because of those fucking monster things I dont think it can get the 9. But I rated it 9 on MAL because it deserves a 9 more than an 8.

I can't wait for it to come out on blu-ray. Its going to look so so fine

Holy shit, that was awesome! Loved the music, loved the story and I loved the art 10/10

Though it as disappointed with some things.. The projectionist was shit! The pic was a little blurry, it had an annoying white line at the top and the upscalling was done wrong that it made a lot of stuff look jagged.. Silly cinema employees

Another small problem I had was the abrupt ending, I would of liked to see a epilogue of some sort =/ Thats just me wanting more though xD

It aired at a local theater last year. Some theaters occasionally have an airing, though I don't believe any are right now. Especially nearing its English release.

Epic movie with awesome animation and some pretty cool characters as well. At first the racing blew me a way then to me it seemed to get sidetracked with the whole Robo army on their ass during the Redline. Picked up again towards the end though at least. And as others have said, what was with the giant bio-weapon baby? Though, he did create some pretty badass explosions. I want a sequel.

And I'm not sure about this or not but did Sonoshee ever realize she met JP in the past before?

The beginning 10 minutes were probably my favorite part of the entire movie. But right after yellow line, the plot drags on, leaving action left behind and slowly moving with plot. I was wholeheartedly expecting constant 24/7 racing action, and with the huge chunk of the middle dedicated to other stuff, the ending felt less than satisfactory for me.

Still, Redline still has great merits in my book. I'm a die hard fan of hard black shading, and Redline definitely shows its wonders. And the music is... my god, I'm downloading the OST right as we speak.

Well, what can I say about Redline?

Really, it's strong points were its amazing animation, the colorful nature of the film, several of the action and racing sequences and the music is good.

I just don't think this film is as much of a Godlike film as many people say it is. I'm probably suffering from the hype and that might have lead to me feeling let down. My main complaint is it bogs down during the middle.

It's alright though. It's just. . . . shallow

I gave it a 5/10. The animation was great, the soundtrack funky, the races ok, but just way too arbitrary and sloppy. It lost focus of the racing way too many times with the whole mafia and bio-weapon and flashbacks that were corny. Sort of messy. And the romance was predictable and incredibly shallow (as were all of the female characters). I was a little disappointed.

Pretty killer flick! Amazing artwork, rippin' soundtrack, plenty of crazy characters and ridiculous balls-out powerups at the end ... fuckin' loved it! I envy all you Japanese otaku who actually got to see it in the theater, it must be amazing on a big screen. Well, bigger than my 46' LCD anyway.

Phenomenal animation (is there any anime film that beats this in terms of sheer animation quality? honestly, I'm drawing blank) and shitfuckamazing racing and action and it's decent in other respects too - OST Is ok but not as good as some make it here IMO

But it got some great weaknesses in writing and pacing. Nothing that renders it anything less than very good, but flaws still exist

Just seen Redline, effing awesome. We need more anime like this.

But somehow i remembered a PlayStation 3 tech demo or some presentation where there was Redline cars racing, and shooting missiles with chains in some game engine. I always thought it was some PS3 game. Cant find that clip now no matter how hard i look.
Anyone else remembers this?
