| It has more virtues than people are willing to admit besides ecchi. It wouldn't be excellent without it, but I could still see it maybe as a 6/10. In fact, I think the first two seasons without ecchi would be better than Born in it's current state, no cap. |

| This anime has characters who are adolescents and adults. You can't remove ecchi unless you remove every character who is going through / has gone through puberty. Every anime with adolescents and adults who do NOTHING sexual is lying to you. Ecchi is the truth. |

| Very possible, especially in the later volumes. However, what gives DxD its charm is how deep down the ecchi rabbit hole it is, to the point where even the main protagonists powers are fueled by it. Not even the action is safe when Oppai laser beams are a thing. So, removing that creates quite a bit of conflict, where even the biggest fights lose some of what makes them special like Issei’s 2 rematches against the Hero Faction in volumes 11 and 12 (passione please), and unless that conflict can be resolved with another goofy, charming aspect, DxD becomes an SAO-like series where it’s recognizable from its premise and a couple unique features but with an overall bland development and cast AT BEST. Worst case scenario the whole series would just completely fall apart as the spirit of the series is gone and it just becomes another shounen anime that had a cool magic system and some cool designs but overall isn’t really noteworthy. Yeah, ecchi-less DxD could be possible but I don’t want to imagine a universe where Issei isn’t a lovably idiotic pervert and is basically just Devil-Goku with cool Gundam armor and dragon/devil magic instead of ki |
