definetely not no, season 1 only adapted about 1/4 of the manga and even skipped a few chapters to get to a good finale for the season
id say season 1 was more of a character introduction and worldbuilding, season 2 is when everything starts to pick up

I was thinking of starting the manga like a few weeks ago, but decided to wait a little. Im so happy that we're getting a second season. Guess I'll have to hold out a little longer.

Ok thanks for the infos !
Ngl I gave season 1 a 7 because even though I had a good time, the lack of a common thread bothered me, the fact that the scenario doesn't really have a goal or that the story just seems non-existent.
But I had a great time and if this problem I have is resolved by the manga and therefore the anime, then I'm excited !

yeah thats a pretty common (and valid) criticism about season 1
thats why i keep emphasizing that its gonna start to pick up in season 2 so maybe people who were unsure what to think about s1 give Call of the Night another chance
its one of my favorite unconventional romance stories and it would be shame to not see it fully adapted as the visuals of the anime make the experience even better imo

I just saw this post on Twitter earlier and got so excited. I really hope they have Yoshiaki Dewa do the OST for the next season as well, the vibes were immaculate.
Figured I'd share my favorite track off the OST because the hype is real:

@Anime_Skaddiel
Yeah, this is another Frieren case, set the bar so high that only way to make it justice is keeping the same core staff (hopeful for both)

Imo all the credit for frieren should go to Toru Iwazawa( action director) , Reiko Nagasawa (Chief animation director) and Yuiichiro Fukushi for gathering such talented staff. Frienen will look the same even without the director. But that's not the case with Yofukashi. Itamura's style of directing is what carried s1
