But like I said, in general, I enjoyed what I saw, and it grabbed my attention enough to make me continue watching the show itself. After all, I can drop it anytime if I notice I'm not enjoying it a lot anymore, haha. For sure I won't force myself to watch all episodes if I won't find this series as engaging enough after completing several episodes of its first season.
I enjoyed what I read; however, at some point, I lost interest and motivation to continue. Especially when the differences between the source material and anime are listed on the Internet, and to be frank, in most of the cases, they seem to be just cosmetic ones (like different supporting characters in various scenes, but without changing them in a way like the first chapters had offered after comparing them to the manga), or just things that are more fleshed out in the anime.
Speaking about the manga content, I've recently started reading the source material I saw the first story difference between it and its anime adaptation. Several short, one chapter long stories taking place in the first volume of the manga, were omitted in the anime. While I get why they were treated like this, they are still worth of checking. Really good and wholesome adventures of Yusuke during his time as a ghost.
About the Three Kings arc, I think it was alright. It managed to expand the lore in a satisfying way. It also made pretty much all elements frome the previous arc more fleshed out, without leaving them just as mere "power-up moments", so something typical for many shounen series.
As for its pacing, I think it was okay. I wouldn't mind seeing more episodes showing more fights, of course, but what I saw was decent and entertaining. After finishing the anime, I read that it was way, way shorter in the manga, with more chaotic direction (while anime, at least in my eyes, did not seem to be chaotic at all in any arc). That's why even though I'd love to have seen more content, I'm glad a lot for what Studio Pierrot added in a form of anime-original content, haha. Even one short scene here or there can make a difference, and from what I read, way more has been added to the Three Kings arc in the anime adaptation.
Going back to score, the last story arc has taken away all my doubts about whether to give YYH 9/10 score or not. Since I greatly enjoyed this series, even more than several other anime I rated with exactly the same score, I decided to eventually go with 10/10, haha. Such treatment goes along with my personal rating system, where 9/10 is the highest score given to shows in regular circumstances. To explain it further, I'll quote the proper line from my personal rating system:
Ehh, I had to delete it from my profile, because somehow, I couldn't submit any changes to it without getting an error message.
Long before starting my adventure with Yu Yu Hakusho, some of my friends recommended me it, saying a lot of positive stuff about this series. I can say that they were right in everything I've been told. It's really cool and, of course, "you'll gonna like it for sure" was proven to be true.
I also think the series is quite overhyped. I don't have anything about people having fun, being passionate about stuff they like, but still, it was bizarre to see euphoric fans spamming Kaguya-sama's subforum back during Season 1 times with their excitement. Not even the first half of the season has aired, but you could see a lot of posts praising the show (not the manga, but anime) for "character development". Ye, right. Too bad there wasn't any significant character development in the first season. At least from my perspective. ;D
I briefly checked out the manga and well... It's nicely drawn, but nothing huge. It's storytelling, from random chapters I picked, resembled a lot of those webcomics tending to have very short chapters. Just in Kaguya-sama's case, those chapters were longer and presented more detailed, yet still pretty simple, story.
Long story short, this movie had everything I didn't like in Season 1. Repetitive, old corny jokes; characters overreacting and screaming way too much; narrator once again doing his best to ruin the flow of the show, lol. On top of that, "First Kiss wa Owaranai" didn't even feel like a movie, but rather like a set of short stories loosely connected with each other by one or two core themes. Dragged out stories, in my opinion. This movie could've been shorter, which in return would've affected positively the whole dynamism, but that's only my opinion. :P
I'm not a fan of this series, but I saw it if not improving with each next season (Season 1 -> Season 2), then at least maturing in terms of romantic themes and handling them (Season 3). While watching this movie, I felt as if I moved back in time to watch Season 1 again for the first time, just in a different format.
As for Berserk, I feel it has ups and downs. For most of the time dark fantasy stuff is handled really well and everything fits into the general atmosphere of this story. Sometimes, however, you can see elements looking as if they were only added for a shock value and to serve as "form over substance" type of elements. I specifically have in mind the whole part about Wyaldd (including Wyaldd himself), and vile trolls obsessed with sex. When I was watching Goblin Slayer for the first time, I thought that those goblins and their way of life was actually influenced by trolls from Berserk, haha.
