most fandoms are toxic (certain parts of them) to be fair. A lot of what happens is just that the loudest fans are sometimes the most toxic ones, and they're in the spotlight a lot. This then causes confirmation bias.

I enjoy the show and negativity towards it has no bearing on that. It’s easy for me to just tune it out.

True.MHA although generic it has certain elements that are actually not explored very often. The Villains for most seem to be the product of a flawed hero society and it does add to the overall story.

The show has definitely had its ups and downs. They have been some. Mark said absolutely fantastic, but at the same time there have been absolutely shit episodes in the in the show. I will have to say it’s a decent show, but I’m gonna leave my final criticisms of the show when it eventually ends

Saying it's bland and uncreative it's like saying One Piece is bland and uncreative just because it follows the same formula like any other shounen that isn't Hunter x Hunter, Death Note or The Dark Trio. Totally Not Mark's reviews of the Big 3 as well as Dragon Ball have given me a new appreciation for those series, especially Dragon Ball. It might seem sated by today's standards but upon a look at what Totally Not Mark says in his reviewes it is actually way deeper than people think. Even the Buu Saga isn't that bad either. Despite Mark having problems with it he still found good things that makes you appreciate it. It's the execution that matters. Do it poorly, well, you get Fairy Tail. That series makes OG Dragon Ball look like a fucking seinen by comparison. Just like TNM it gave me a new appreciation for The Big 3 and it remains the perfect example of how not to write shounen let a lone a traditional shounen. It did start promising but when it doesn't evolve beyond shounen tropes you get a disaster. The author does seem to have learned his lesson as the sequel series is actually really good. His new series Eden's Zero is also really good and he is even working on a dark fantasy manga titled Dead Rock simultaneously.

Calling it generic just because it follows the same formula is an insult to all traditional shounen and the people who write it. One Piece is considered one of the greatest manga of all time and is able to stand toe to toe against Goodnight PunPun, the Big 3 of seinen and all of Naoki Urasawa's works just like Hirohiko Araki's JoJo series before it became seinen. The difference is that Araki deconstructs the genre while Oda embraces it while simultaneously giving us likable characters, an engaging story and amazing world building. Mother's Basement once said in his 10 Best Anime of Fall 2020 - Ones to Watch video that not every anime needs a novel concept and that there is something to be said about good execution on a truly classic formula while talking about Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai which is a remake of an old anime by Toei Animation which is an adaptation of a manga based on the JRPG franchise which predates Final Fantasy. Guess what, it is one of the best-selling manga of all time. I watched the remake at the end of December of 2022 till January of this year and I loved it. There is a right and wrong way to handle a classic formula. Do it right, you get One Piece, do it wrong, you get Fairy Tail.

It’s not just the fandom. The show itself isn’t a bad show but it is far from gold.

I can't even name a single thing MHA does really well at a high level, it just puts school super heroes on the screen and goes through the motions and people eat that shit up
Sometimes you just want to hear anime girls squeak and squeal

True, Like it's a very good show but there's some people out there who's job is to stop people from watching mha. They say that it's a kids show.

unless you're stuck on season 2 or somewhere around that I don't see which part of it is bland or uncreative.
Bland as in if you mean the same thing keeps happening - I think the premise on which each season unfolds is different than the other. The fundamental elements, that it's a world of people with superpowers, and that we got heroes and villains and small time crooks, that remains the same (but that's a given 🤷🏻‍♂️). Other than that -
first season: the students enter UA, undergo hero training and tests to evaluate what they're capable of, learn what it's like to be a hero. See pro heroes face off against villains for the first time.
Second season: they have to compete with others in a school tournament, undergo training under a pro hero
third season: they face their biggest challenges yet as the ultimate antagonists make their appearance together.
You get the gist. The students evolve over time, each getting to know each other better, understanding what they can accomplish by themselves, and together as a team, and get to know their own selves better as well. Honestly if anyone paid attention to what was happening instead of trying to be nitpicking all the time the series is neither bland nor uncreative, atleast from a neutral perspective. If one were to go quibbling at every minor development that went against their wishes then it would be a different story though. But each to their own I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.

the show has high, highs and really low, lows. I'd say it is over all a solid 7/10 show, not great, but not bad. personally, I wouldn't watch it again, but watching the newest season, I would
