dub for sure,it makes the most sense for this show,and the VAs do a great job aswell,not to mention the amount of cursing that you dont get to see much in any form of entertainment is great

honestly, this show uses so much English in the sub that it'd probably sound more natural in dub. I'd also say that despite most dubs being questionable, this is one that works really well.

ultimately though, watch in whatever you feel more comfortable watching it in.

Ignore the numb nuts that responded to you first, the dub is the way to go for this series imo. Maryke Hendrikse absolutely killed it with Revy’s voice acting, she’s awesome.

Dub is the best for this, i actually never watch anime in dub but man this anime dub was great and it matched the overall anime itself cause the anime actually Doesn't have any Japanese background & except the one character every other character is outside from Japan so the dub matches with them

There are so many accents and dialects present in the dub you might miss them with subs, so dub is good. If you don’t want to hear them, then sub.

Dub, there is lots of different nationalities and the dub gives a better immersion then the sub as the VA have accents. This is from someone who almost always does sub too if that means anything.

Definitely watch the Dub. Since there are a lot of characters with different nationalities and backgrounds. You can’t expect everyone to speak Japanese when the Main Character is the only one in the crew that’s Japanese.

For example, there’s a scene in season 2 where Rock is translating English to Japanese for Balalaika so she can communicate with the Yakuza. It just doesn’t even compare in the sub.

Don’t listen to the sub only elites.

Do whatever makes sense and makes it easier to follow.

I’ve watched it in both and I prefer dub for simplicity.

Well, i vote for sub, 100%
I was pretty much forced seeing one episode in dub and it just sounded wrong to me...the voices don't match the characters and they don't portray emotions well imho
But then again, this is all down to preference, i am a sub purist but i won't look down on people watching the dub, it's their choice how they want to experience the media
But i recommend sub, it's much better imo

I enjoyed the sub (also watched all the extra content) but it's really up to whatever you prefer. A lot of ppl seem to be recommending the dub so could be worth a shot trying the dubbed version first.

Dub 100% I’d say it had one of the best anime dubs ever produced ngl. Not to say that the sub is bad, but the dub nails the emotional moments down way more.

the dub is amazing in Black lagoon not many animes have good English dubs but black lagoons is one of the very few exceptions that the dub is better than sub

Both are pretty good, but I like the Dub more. Like people said, the accents are more prevalent in the Dub.

Damn, good question! I watched sub originally and after I finished my friend told me I should have watched it dub, but I hate dub. But got curious so watched a few episodes dub and it’s really good dubed! One of the Very few animes that dub works! I think it’s enjoyable either way !

Dub there is too much dialogue and exposition mixed in with the action it would be easy to get lost if you were reading. Also it’s probably one of the most culturally diverse group of characters that watching in sub would take away from the show. Some of the jokes between some characters wouldn’t land right when spoken in Japanese like Revy and Shenhua.

cursing (rated R) is one of the reason I asked this question and cursing doesnt hit same in Japanese. Well i will be watching this in dub, thank you for the suggestion.

When I see too many foreign characters, a doubt always arises in my mind abt sub And dub. Thanks for clarifying it.

No point in me answering at this point, but I still want to chime in and say that the dub of this show is one of the best things that’s ever happened. Although a weird show to compare it to, it holds the gold standard along with Ouran High School Host Club for immaculate English casting.

personally i liked sub more, since i had just finished monster and 2 VAs i liked to hear were also in black lagoon, but the dub makes more sense

My vote would be for sub because the Japanese cast is amazing, but If you aren't used to subs go dub because there is a lot of action so can be difficult to follow

Laughing at the sub purists up top. The dub is far superior in this series and just fits naturally with all of the different accents that are involved. Something you can’t get with the sub. They actually kept some of the Japanese dub for later episodes involving the Yakuza, which I thought was really cool.
