I just finished season 1 and I thought it was okay and it seemed that it set up a lot for the future. I was considering checking out season 2, although I haven't heard good things about it.
Should I watch season 2, or not at all, or even switch to the manga?

Season 1 already missed some details you need to know just start the manga from the beginning and enjoy it will save you a lot of time and confusion.

i disliked season 1 so perhaps i’m not the best to answer this question but season 2 is marginally worse in every single way and is genuinely one of the worst seasons of anime i’ve had the displeasure of watching. even if you thought season 1 was fine, you’ll probably dislike season 2. safe to just drop the show or if you’re interested in it read the manga but if you do that start from the beginning because season 1 adapted poorly.

S2 was garbage 4/10, haven't read the manga tho but everyone says manga is superior so go and read if you are interested.

see this, this is all ya need to say. most of S2 ,aka Root A, was a original take on the second cour of the story. in tht sense, it’s not even canon so watch it, don’t watch it, makes no difference. however, they’re completely different experiences so be aware of that goin in👌🏾

actually NO. THE END OF TOKYO GHOUL IS SKIPPED IN √A. Switch to manga now or you will get headache searching why this or that happened in TG:RE.
Please watch Sword Art Online Progressive, it's the peak of SAO.

I recommend reading the Manga from the beginning tbh.
season one of the anime was good but still doesn't compare to the Manga because they skipped so much.
season 2 is a train wreck and I couldn't get back into it for Re so idk about the anime from season 3 onwards.

Just episode 1 from season 1 alone left out quite a few important details, imo.
The order of events were somewhat rearranged (Also, the doves arc happened before the gourmet arc, which to me, felt like a crime against humanity)

The people in charge of the anime adaptation of Tokyo Ghoul: re:
"Ahh yes, just like that, 16 volumes tightly condensed into 26 TV episodes or so fit perfectly. Pretty sure the anime fans coming from Root A won't get confused or anything"

Like...wtf

i have read 3 times both manga, probley in here i know better than anyone and can help you most.for now you should better watch season 2, because anime at ep 8-11 is better manga, fight in these four episode is so muche better and longer than manga but don't watch ep12. then you finished it, go and read manga from the beginning, some important detals isn't in anime i mean manga in season 1 about 4 ep more have.and some few scene only is in anime that's a good thing. but for season 2 manga is very deffrent compare to anime, just ep 2,8-11 is the same like manga.anime season 2 is good 8/10 but manga is 10/10. and for tokyo ghoul re both manga and anime isn't good enough. anime season 3 is exactly same like manga but season 4 no. anime season 3 i rated 2/10 manga 3/10.and season 4 anime i rated 4/10 manga 5/10. you can watch tokyo ghoul re, but for season 4 read manga.
