The Irregular at Magic High School (light novel)
| It's a trash of the highest caliber. Basically, it commits every sin SAO does AND more. You have a Gary Stu LN Stock Hero as a protagonist, who is utterly flawless OVERPOWERED, every female has a crush on him and has no personality whatsoever. Now, this trope can be executed property ("86" for example), but here it is definetely not the case. He also has a literal incestuous relationship with his sister, so if you are bothered by that, then it is even worse. Also, MC-kun and his friends solve every issue, win every fight and deal with every problem without any effort, which efficiently destroys all potential tension and suspense. Combine this with Madhouse adaptation having no comic relief WHATSOEVER and you have so god damn boring chore of a show, that will make you dizzy guaranteed. 8bit adaptation and their Visitor Arc actually introduce some well needed comic relief and MC has significantly less screen time compared to Madhkuse series, which makes this show quite enjoyable. Even the spinoff, which nobody asked for was palatable. Same goes for movie. If you somehow endure 24 predicable and boring episodes you'll be well rewarded. |

| It's basically what everyone here is saying. I really like some of the tropes in the series, like magic academy, OP protagonist, prestigious family, tournament vs rival school, and some harem, etc. but the execution of the story could be so much better. |

| Absolutely not, rather watch paint dry than this boring shitshow, I am not sure how I managed to watch over 10 episodes of this. The MC is the definition of how to not write an OP MC. He might look cool for the first 2 episodes but that gets old fast, all the side characters just suck up to him like they don't have their own lives, the whole world revovles around the almighty "Godsuya". And then there is the incest part as well. I was surprised to see that madhouse is still making sequels and spinoffs of this I guess its big in Japan. Just a big waste of time, better off watching something else. |
