Yes. It's everything very obvious and you won't have any problem related to the history.

This movie changed my mind about the whole Anime. It was everything boring but pretty (long live to KyoAni) and then I watched the movie and it blew my mind. It's beautiful.

You can, but it'll probably be less impactful, since you haven't spent that much time getting to know the characters. Also there are some things that won't make sense immediately unless you watch the series.

Well it's not necessary but I think it's better if you do watch it because it will get you more attached to the characters. I saw the series first and I think it helped me understand the characters and their emotions better.

But do what you feel like doing it's not necessary since the plot of the series doesn't have much to do with the movie.

You can't. Tamako Love Story is like the definitive conclusion of the themes in Tamako Market. If you watch Love Story first, then you might get a decent cute romance anime and it's pretty good, but the subtexts in Love Story and the coming-of-age aspects of it won't feel as impactful as watching Market first.

Tamako Market is what makes Tamako Love Story such a masterpiece to me.

You can watch it even if you don't try Tamako Market. But you know, what you're about to do is an incomplete journey.

It’s better you watch the show for the context and build up. The movie is the conclusion that the show desperately desired. It got pretty truncated at the end due to some scheduled cancelation and that it wouldn’t get a second season. So they made the movie to give it the conclusion that it deserved. It has far more meaning when viewed in that sense. So no, watch the show. It’s not that long even.

No, I mistakenly thought it was a stand alone movie and was so confused by the character relationships and you only see the end of the love story so you don’t gain any satisfaction from seeing the main couple get together

I watched the movie without watching the series and I’d think watching the series will bolster your experience in the movie.

You're missing out on 12 episodes of buildup, no way

I really loved tamako love story and I found my enjoyment of it was cuz of the 12 episodes it took to develop the characters. The movie felt as a sort of reward and a nice closure on the story so I wouldn't recommend it.

Simple answer, Yes. You don't really need a prequel, it can stand alone on itself.

But most of the character development came from Tamako Market, so it is better to watch the prequel. But then again, it depends on you.

Honestly, Yes. However, Tamako Market provides a lot of context for certain character appearances in the movie. If you can watch the series, then do so. Additionally, the movie will make you feel that the series is something it should have been, but it did not.

Same here, during the movie you get enough background information to know what's going on and enjoy it

I watched Love Story without watching Tamako Market, I didn't realize the movie was a sequel until I finished watching it. But the context is clear the second the movie starts, there won't be any problem understanding anything

No .... unless you want to toss away all the building of characters and relationships. Would make this much more watered down.
