| Pretty cool, I can sort of see how MMORPG's were influential for the whole thing ex. can't die (Respawning), NPC's and THE BANHAMMER ANGEL. I really like how quickly it started up without dragging out 2-3 episodes for character introduction. The characters do seem quite good, Yuri is quite typical and reminds me of Haruhi SO much minus the rape. Our main hero seems like he won't actually have a really big part for a while, but it's always cool to have the perspective of a newbie. 5/5 for the first episode being one of the better first episodes I've seen for a while. |

| Even if it's a rip off, it doesn't have to be bad. Yuri seems just a bit like Haruhi and not that much how I imagined - she's still a pretty cool charakter. Loved the episode. Story seems interesting and the action scene was decent (+ music! <3). Finally an Anime in 2010 which isn't bad, thaha. |

| Am I the only one who didn't see a parallel between Yuri and Haruhi until someone pointed it out? That aside, a pretty good start. There are still a lot of questions I have about the background world, but I'm sure they'll be answered a bit later. Nice animation and music, of course. |
| Donno if it just me that whenever I hear Otonashi voice,Izaya Orihara (Durarara!!) picture came up in my head ^^;; At this point,I can't take Otonashi seriously after Hiroshi Kamiya voicing epic guy like Izaya.A manipulative bastard devolve to amnesiac guy...doesn't look good to me. | It feels like every cliche from the past year in anime has been shoved into this episode/series... The ep I saw didn't have the OP, which is the part I really wanted to hear D: The insert song and ED were okay though. |

| the animation is really, really nice. That's all I can say for now since I don't get the story very much. Also, Yuri reminds me of Haruhi. Her orange hairband. The character designer should know better than to design her with orange (or even close to it) hairband. |

| Pfff, I hope and expect it to be much better than Railgun. I loved the music, and Im not (only) talking about the insert and ending songs. The background music was awesome as well and pretty different from usual anime bgm. |

| I aboslutely adored it! The landscape/light effects. Story wise I find it stupid yet mysterious....I mean attacking Angels? For what purpose (getting lunch tickets seems stupid for enough for me for now) but I know there are ulterior motives.....Character opinion wise: Tenshi is monstrous in terms of her "Distortion" power (she can deflect all projectiles) and her "Sonic Hand"......rather interesting she reminds me a little the same weapon that Miyu uses in Mai-Hime. Yuri looks to have a nice eye/hair combination and a leader position that abuses Hinanata with hits (don't mind it snce I like Zero no Tsukaima). Blood well done and comedy wise it is not bad. What bothers me to know more about is the world setting....it looks like that place where bad souls go to reincarnate as something else or human based on some conditions that are "X" decides who you come back as......Looks like also that wounds do not count because it's just the soul and the setting of the world is only a school? NPC 's are people with paranormal powers.....right? They call them Angels......right? What is this erase thing? The memory loss.....is that not part of all souls reincarnation processes? | Wow I didn't notice it at first‚ but the series already have Off-Models... http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/04/03/angel-beats-quality-from-the-get-go/ But that still won't stop me from enjoying the series!XD And this will be cleaned up for the DVD release anyway so its ok. |

This was surprisingly bad. It looked and felt really cheap, but without Shaft's stylish excess to cover it up. The jokes all uniformly fell completely flat. The characters felt even flatter than the jokes. Yuri might have talked about the other students being NPCs, but really, half the SSS members felt just as generic--especially the guys. I don't usually notice things like lip sync and voice acting, but there were a ton of places where the character movement felt entirely off with what the characters were actually doing. Like when Otonashi wakes up from when Tenshi stabbed him, his voice felt frantic while the character's actual movements were sluggish and awkward. Again, surprisingly bad. |

Also, don't try and complain about flat characters on episode one. You know next to nothing about them right now, which is obviously nowhere near enough to make an intelligent judgement about them. The characters have an entire series to develop over, so take a chill pill, 'kay? |

Oh, they have to fight against.... GDO along with his/her sole petanko servant!!! A bunch of various muscular dudes with some Moe shit girls gonna gang up on a small petanko girl maybe for 4-6 eps or so.... Awesome plot device there I tell ya. I expect this hot shizz to sell well since it's like Hahuhihaha after all and I hope all anime will follow this trend from now on too, just as KKK ( PS: KKK means plan) |

| After watching the first episode... It was really amazing! But, I didn't like the insert song, and Yuri reminds me of Haruhi when I was watching the first ep. Can't wait for the next ONE! |

If ya can name me a recent anime where the characters went against GOD (GDO?) in the afterlife, then I could understand that remark having some weight. I can't think of any though. Anyway, people who say that Yuri acts like Haruhi doesn't know Haruhi at all. Haruhi is not capable of focusing a single goal for an extended period of time. There is no way at all she could lead some small rebellion like Yuri does. Haruhi would also never take suggestions for the SOS brigade's name. Basically, with Haruhi it's all about her. With Yuri, it's all about the rebellion and her squad mates. They're actually pretty oposite in that regard. |

Regardless of how much anime you've watched, I'm sure anyone is sharp enough to pick out the cliches, the gimmicks, the archetypes, etc. etc. As ShibuyaRiver had mentioned, it's always a plus to have some sort of originality. I mean chick flicks for a example, they are all the same - any viewer can tell you that the couple is going to end up together. How the cliche is carried out is what really matters and what interests the viewers. I think the same thing applies to animes too. So far, the concept behind the series is interesting....how it was carried out was, as some people have mentioned - a bit cheap. I mean Yuri is a splitting image of Haruhi, not just the looks, but the personality and the way she talks. That doesn't sit well in my books. Tenshi is borderline similar to Yuki. The concert scene is obviously a rip-off from Haruhi's "epic concert" because to be honest, I see no logical purpose behind the concert, other than to maybe drown out the sounds of guns. There is a lack of information on the characters and the storyline, all they really showed was pretty effects, music and "humour". Yes I know animes develop the characters and storyline over time. But there has to be enough information to actually capture the viewers' interest. I could tell just from the trailer that the main reason why I'll be sticking with this anime is because of the production quality. Something told me that it was going to struggle in the plot development department. I'm truly hoping that my intuition is wrong. Let's also not forget that this anime is only 13 episodes. They've already wasted one. Will they really be able to cram in enough depth within the characters and the storyline in the remaining 12 episodes? I certainly hope so. |

Goodness some people have good eyes. Then again I'm usually busy reading subs and don't get as much time to view the animation as people who can speak Japanese. Even then, the animation and artwork was stunning for the most part so I feel this anime was destined to be brought down, maybe people weren't happy that a different studio (Not Kyo-Ani) were behind this Key anime. Most mistakes are excusable here though, the sniper one is a bit odd though. Also, she isn't the only character that resembles Haruhi so people need to stop using it as an excuse to avoid the anime/put it down. Lots of anime characters are similar, boohoo. |

Duh, too tired to go back and waste 20 min of my life just to see more of OBVIOUS PHAILURES and please the audience <_< And yes, all I listed were archetypes thus why I didn't bash on it, did I? Those are the things that make me love it from the get-go but see how I didn't drop it, as well as the other stuffs that I considered 'awesome'? Because I stilll hope they will turn out to be even better and gimme some surprise so Imma persistently stick with 2 more eps of those shows before running out of patience, burn those eps to my DVD(s) and kill random passerby(s) with them a la GTA.
