Can't say I expected this, but I'm reasonably pleased with the news as the first season was mostly very enjoyable.

We are getting so much sequels these past years.
Wonder if we'll ever get a Mondaiji s2 and Hataraku Maou Sama s2. I also hear the former band iirc T.M revolution also teased that Gundam Seed movie was in the works. Well not really that hyped for Mahouka with that being said but I'll still check it out when it comes out.

Onii sama. So it's not Madhouse. Hope it doesn't turn into like OPM 2.

All hail Onii-sama, because in his glory, he allowed his series to have a second season.

May more plebs be rekted by his unlimited glory. Amen.

It's been a while, but was this the show about an MC so OP that he makes Kirito look like a weakling? And I think his sister wants in his pants or something?

Well... Im keeping my expectations low, because Mahouka was pretty much an average anime for me. I usually don't mind incest, but in this anime and for the kind of serious story it has, it was just too much, it kinda clouded my enjoyment for this series and it pissed me off. The only good thing about it was Godsuya's character himself. But i'll still watch it, i want to believe that this show can captivate me and get me into it, we'll see how it goes.

Will be 7 years in 2020 since announcement of the first season, maybe that's what @Atilac meant.

Just wanted to say, totally called it :-P:

It would actually make some sense for them to release a second season in the next year or so - while the LN is already far (far, far...) ahead, the manga adaptation (which uses an odd structure where each Arc is adapted by a different mangaka, and two arcs which chronologically follow one another have overlapping release schedules) just finished the 'Visitor' and 'Double Seven' Arcs (corresponding to LN volumes 9-11 and 12, respectively), with the 'Steeplechase' Arc (LN volume 13) ending soon.

The original anime adapted LN volumes 1-4 and 6-7 (skipping volume 5, the 'Summer Vacation' Arc), roughly the same amount of material that the manga is now ahead by, and did so roughly in the middle of the timeframe that the manga covered the same content (January 2012 - October 2015), so it wouldn't be unusual for them to try to revitalize sales for the manga with a second anime adaptation covering the rest of the manga released up until now; that way, they could attract new readers, who could catch up to the current state of the manga by watching the anime.

Given that the anime usually acts as a commercial for the manga/LN for series like this (the profit margins on anime just can't compare to those of manga or LNs), it's definitely a realistic possibility. Of course, they could just as easily decide not to - but if we are ever to see a second anime adaptation of the franchise, I'd say 2020 would be the year for it.

Magic High School has been on my favorites list since I first watched the show on Netflix around 4 years ago. I regard this anime as one of the best magical high school anime in existence. Matter of fact, I recently just rewatched it like half a year ago to see if my rating of it would change after 5 years due to a change in taste. It didn't. Magic High School is still a 10 in my book.

20-7= 13. He probably just miscounted the amount of years and meant to say 6 years. 6 and 7 are right next to each other on the keyboard, after all.

Yep sure is and he’s so messed up by all the experiments he can’t love anyone else ever so what could’ve been an awesome harem isn’t even possible but I like the former seito kaicho and the sister but they were only born a month a part so I can’t remember how that happened other than explaining it’s not full blooded incest lol

So a second season of this and Arifureta? The Japanese really are masochists aren't they? I can't think of any other explanation as to why two absolutely abysmal shows would be successful enough for a second season.

This anime has been a guilty pleasure of mine just based on the magic system alone. Everything else is pretty mediocre, especially the fact that the series has no stakes because Tatsuya and Myuki are good at everything when together.

Even though this is S2 it's still a prequel to the movie. We might get more if this series does well.

I despise myself for actually checking if 6 and 7 were next to each other on the keyboard

I remember finding this series very average, but it was also in my early days of anime. I might give this one a rewatch now that second season is coming.
