This is cheating, the teacher did mention their performance would based on merit, any regular person or first timer on that school would definitely think that this "performance" was actually academy score and not the money.
It is just a wordplay!!
So, in later episode if something went wrong, the teacher could explained everything on "merit" in order to cover up any potential plot hole? LOL
That is so convenient to explain any plot and content!
Oh, that was a pretty interesting start to the show. The main character is quiet and likable. The girls are cute. And, that ending was good. I'm gonna binge watch it tonight. LOL Well, before the second season airs. Let's get over it.
Great episode, love the concept, the characters and all that but the production is so...lacking. A better studio should've handled it IMO. Could've really elevated almost...everything.
gophercg said: Mc sounds so bored, liked his monologues.
Nice to have Hachiman, Yui, Yukino 'together' again, still playing the respective social monologue, social glue, and loner roles.
There's also Gabriel, fire guy from index & some baldman.
Not much comedy, but i trust Lerche making it edgy as usual.
Lmao, don't worry the characters are literally nothing like the ones you compared it to. Particularly the ones from Oregairu. But I won't agree with the Index comparison, although that is quite a common anime trope.
Rewatching before the 2nd season comes out, it's been a while. I enjoyed this on my first watch, will be interesting to see if anything changes, doubtful. These characters just do it for me.
Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I thought the ep started really weakly given how popular the series is but now I get it once I watched the ending. Honestly the best cliffhanger I've seen in a while so that was a pleasant surprise :).
I like the direction this series is going. Yeah the ep was a bit slow but it feels worth the build up. Excited to finally watch this series now that s2 is currently airing ><!
i get most of the teachers not earning the merit of a second month of points. but didn't the two loners in the back at least deserve points? or is this one of those things where if most he class gets no points, it reflects on the whole class? or maybe it's just the school making a point by not giving anyone points no matter what, as a teaching lesson? idk
loner girl says she's been alone for years (but she's not lonely). she's obviously going to have a transformation, right?
loner guy is pretty normal imo. i don't really think anyone else is worth talking about yet. that one guy and girl are brother and sister? they had the same name apparently?
7/10. decent first episode. shows promise. the 2 main characters so far have good potential imo
Seems like a maximum score for minimal effort guy. He and Horikita planned ahead.
Kek, boldly staring at Kushida's big rack when she asks him for help.
I hope i get used to the Mc's va cause damn i dont' like it. But I love that loner gal.
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
I'm not particularly drawn to slice-of-life anime, but with the high expectations surrounding season 3, I decided to give it a shot, if not purely out of curiosity. As anticipated, I found myself somewhat bored for most of the episode, as the generous allowances were abruptly cut off due to poor student performance, as I had expected. The existence of the "freebies section" in stores was a significant indicator of this change. Nevertheless, whether it's my curiosity about the two main characters introduced or the slight sci-fi vibes that reminded me of a fantastic British show called Black Mirror, I found the cliffhanger intriguing enough to make me want to delve deeper into this series before deciding whether to continue watching or not.
I can't say that I particularly enjoyed the comedic elements, but overall, I believe the setting holds promise, making me eager to see where the narrative takes us from here.
It's been what, 5 years since s1 aired, s3 is about to air and here I'm not even sure why or when I added this to my plan to watch.
Also why is the name so long? sadge
welp I guess i shoulda expected. i honestly dunno man
anyway from a personal or otherwise uhm, large scale perspective, selfishness or selflessness
and equality vs equity is a really headache of a topic too
and dont get me started on the whole meritocracy thing
i was thinking that most anime dont really pay that much attention, but i wonder if bus vs train is more common compared to real life
average class size. here it looks like exactly 5x5 so 25 in total, 4 classes means "only" 100 students in a year, 300 students in total. setting aside the issue, im pretty sure even by japan standards 300 students is really small
since the whole concept is the students are elites, and with such a small size, curious
well its implied that since they're class d, 4th out of 4th that they're the lowest ranked i guess
if the whole school only has 300 students do they really need such a huge campus? curious how they're weekends are going to go
for more anime topics, im really wondering how the characters is going to work
the premise is kinda interesting, though it really depends on the character interactions
since from the whole concept its about merit and/or results otherwise
still, our mc here sounds very different from others
kinda curious really
taketatsu ayana is so distinctive, even if i briefly had a look at the character page you can clearly hear her
the others im not so sure yeah
anyway yeah most likely there will be some kind of plot twist soon or something
kinda curious but welp
anyway even a small thing like this, suzune is super sharp (for now) that she clearly (successfully) guessed that it was a setup
still kinda weird that she would be ok, but then also not
i do wonder though are there actually children or students who have been alone their entire time in school
like i know loneliness is a thing but like really for like 10 years or more
anyway still a bit too early to be thinking about character development
i feel like its going to be one of those things where the story goes very slowly.
the anime is supposedly really highly rated but i have no idea
its kind of funny and convenient. in most anime the dorms i think are in pairs, but apparently this school is so extravagantly fabulously rich they can afford pretty big single room dorms?
i mean clearly something seems to be going on. autonomy so to speak, if anything it feels like a trap, or most likely a test
still
ok yeah.
so before that, i have to say, like, usually the class teacher is like something, but this teacher feels very, well different thats for sure.
so yeah, they deliberately didnt go into the details. i was worried at first but
so the first month, april, the points were given "for free"/granted, so they had a false sense of security, but then the next month may
(curious though, what happens during the holidays? also im assuming the other classes COULD share their points IF they wanted to. but uh)
so yeah, im not sure, so apparently it seems like the teacher has the ability to basically just withhold/penalty all the points
grading as a class? thats both a good and bad thing since group effects seem a bit weird compared to the whole individual merit. though japan probably has a bigger sense of group over individual
So yeah, a fairly quiet first ep with basic introduction and the first episode plot twist/reveal at the end.
I'm not sure how many first eps have an entire month timeskip though
I feel like a broken record since I say this on almost every single anime, but have to see how ep 2 goes. I mean. I dunno honestly.
The main character(s), like. I'm not even sure what to say, its definitely kind of a thing. They did vaguely mention the student council president who may or may not be linked to suzune. Otherwise.
One thing that was left out, which the other eps will have to fill in the blanks, is how the other classes performed.
Our MC here used just under 20k points/yen in just a month, which while not low isnt high either, and suzune presumably spent even less.
Also despite being only the first ep it seems we get 3 sets of freeze frame text at the start, middle, and end of each ep, nevermind all the text in the op(?)
Kushida is voiced by kubo yurika, which is fascinating. Otherwise I have no idea if she's actually going to be relevant, since the entire class is 25 people, and what not.
Apparently the teacher is voiced by sato rina?? Damn I totally didnt recognize her.
Suzune is kito akari yes but I've know that literally since s1 aired since it was one of her first big roles
The end of the episode was a surprise!
Although the usual thing would have been that since the rookies had money, the sempai would bully them to get it, but I think that the merit system will be quite good.
We'll see how it develops!
Alright time to finally watch this goated ass show after lacking on it for so long but imma watch it now to catch up to season 3 since it’s airing rn
The guy Ayanokouji acts like Nagi to me from Blue Lock which is jokes I like him I can’t wait to see why ppl has this guy up for being one of the best manipulators in anime
The girls in this show are H O T asf Horikita is hot and Kushida got some big ass tiddies😩😩😩😩
The students should’ve known that there was a catch with the “free money” they got I’m smh that’s what they get for slacking off in class sleeping and shit💀💀💀
Hmm.. this was a decent start of a series, I like it so far. I've alr read the 1st year light novel quite some time ago so I'll remember bits but not so much and I assume Ayanokoji is going to be quite different than his LN counterpart by seeing the critics that this show got.
