No bad but not that special either.
hope Arslan at least gets a little less cookie cutter prince like, after the tragedy comes next episode.
I really doubt I though (-_-)

'Maryam'
It's promising. The prince has shit parents, her mother' design is great though. She's beautiful.

Yes please. He's nice & all but I hope he doesn't remain that way throughout the whole series.

Did anyone else cringe at some of those robotic-looking CG soldiers? Especially when they were walking single file down the streets.

the anime seems almost follow panel-by-panel from first chapter. hmmm, following this pace, we might have enough material from first and second novel

if compare with old ova, this. 'introductory' chapter might be needed to show the background of the series (different view and conflict about slavery and religion. between two countries for instance) old ova just go straight to. arslan's maiden battle (uh, is that a new term? because I'm almost burst out laughing when seeing the title) without explaining anything. still, even with less explanation and overly rushed and densely packed per episode , I still enjoy. the old ova, hoping will be the same with this new version

ed song istill cannot beat the ova version though, I think 'Ryoutei Ippai' is best ed song

Should be some avant-garde fujo materials but damn son it's good and interesting.
I see it as a gem among all the other series in this season hohoho (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
You will soon learn that a heart that choose to exist, even in a life filled with pain, will one day allow us to meet again.
With the world's blessings, we will meet again and again, forever returning to the homeworld we've yet to see.
Many, many times.

I had underestimated this anime in the beginning.
Good thing I gave it a try as to how it seems promising so far.
I'm excited to see Arslan's character progress.
I know he'll turn out to be a great king someday.
Lovely ED, I can't wait to hear the OP by UVERworld!

Beautiful character designs.. at first I was a bit worried on another adaptation of Arslan senki, especially when I saw that trailers of CG cavalry charge. But when it shown up in the series it looked more 'fit in' perhaps because they handling the transition between CGI with drawn scene carefully.

They really didn't waste time for info dumping on first episode, which is good, in truth I almost can't believe they could convey the world-build setting so well in just one episode. Especially regarding the cultural differences and the general attitude of the people from both kingdoms.

I can't wait for the next episode!

I'm fine with Arslan, as saw in the arts he also got some cool face later on.
Totally agree with Farangi though.. I don't know what decision changes her from this:

I liked this more than I expected. It felt like well designed fairy-tale knight-fantasy.
The interaction between the prince and the blond boy was great, and gave a good picture about the prince's character (spoiled, lazy brat, who has a great heart and is going to grow up a great man).

I also like the visuals in this, the palace, the characters, the giraffe...
And the ending was beautiful.

Also to add information the 2015 story was taken from the Hiromu Arakawa manga version, which is based on a novel by Dr. Yoshiki Tanaka the creator of Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

This is probably my favorite first episode of the season so far (though I have not seen many).

Great animation and backgrounds, epic sound, solid pacing. Overall it was a pretty exciting first episode, which made me want to see more. I really liked the character designs though that is to be expected of Arakawa-sensei.

The show is not really subtle with its political messages about slavery, human rights and religious fanaticism but I like how there are different characters representing those different viewpoints.

At the end, when Arslan was saying that his father will remain in power for a long time, that was like seriously tempting fate. It looks like he will be forced to grow up very fast.

Hmmm this series looks really promising! There are lots of things that can be developed, and I hope it will be well done.
It was pretty solid start. The animation was very good(some CGI parts were stunning while some were awkward tho, but that arrow scene, wHOAH) and the sound is very fitting to the tone of this anime. The backgrounds were GORGEOUS. ; u ;

Looking foward to more.

I've no idea what to really expect here as I haven't seen much historical anime in the 1st place. So, I suppose all I can expect for now is a good coming-of-age adventure. I'm not familiar with any of the staff on this either, so going into this one completely blind. All I know is that I WANT this to be good. There are obvious budged issues here but if it keep's consistent like this and not go any lower I'm fine with it.

Also, Sion, is that you? :P

Wow, after about 5 seconds of listening to the music at the very beginning, I immediately thought, "Am I watching Suisei no Gargantia?" Lo and behold, same composer. I think Taro Iwashiro just surpassed Hiroyuki Sawano in having similar sounding soundtracks...

Anyway, decent start. Let's see where this one goes.

Whoa. This is from the creator of Legend of the Galactic Heroes and the art's done by Hiromu Arakawa? This is a very good situation we're in here.

Good start, event despite the 3D CGI.

Laughed at the obvious death flags for the father at the end of the episode.

At first, I was really disappointed with the shitty quality at start even though I got the 1080p version. Everything after that looked relatively good though, so that was a relief.

I thought I wasn't going to find this any interesting, but I'm hooked up now and it looks like it's going to get pretty good. Looking forward to the next one.

PS: it's always cool when you can identify a VA. The queen didn't even speak much, but I noticed almost immediately that her VA was the same as Caster's from F/SN. Cool beans.

It was okay, somewhat enjoyable. There was some action and background history, however it was a little bit boring for me. CGI was bad, but oh well, there wasn't a lot of 3D moments so I can let it slide.
I will watch the next episode for sure.
3/5 for the episode.

I just finished reading all the 22 chapters of the Arakawa's version and I really enjoyed it, the first episode had done justice to the manga, and the seldomly used CGI wasn't distracting and it really gave the combat scenes a certain scale of epicness. I really liked the camera angles in certain scenes, it had a cinematic feel to it. Until now, it's an 8 out of 10 for me.

Suzuki-sensei and Arakawa-sensei sure get along well (Both drawing ending cards for each other´s anime lol) I like this.

Anyways, this new version of this history is better than I expected. Arslan is just too precious, Arakawa made him a cutie~ Oh, and the giraffe part was simply the best. It´s nice to see some bits of humour in this kind of series.

The CGI didn't strike me as THAT bad.

I do like the setting, and the show itself is giving me a few FMA vibes. I'll probably follow it at a regular basis.

This could be good series and everyone is fine but I have big problem with main character - he is precisely that useless, careless and weak type I hate, not to mention they made him look like woman almost. If nothing else that thing alone is dealbreaker for me and it's driving me away from this series.

But the setting felt fine and backgrounds were well done. Well, guess I'll watch one or two more eps to see if anything changes in his coming of age.
