Meh, I think this was one of the dumbest episodes so far. An ice enemy, but for some reason Sailor Mars is useless? Um... fire vs ice lawlwut? Suddenly Mamoru shows up out of nowhere? In fact, the whole editing and pacing of this episode was ridiculous and disjointed. And Sailor Mercury hits the enemy with one water attack and saves the day? Chibiusa speech saves the day?!

Not one of the best episodes, that's for sure.

Sailor Mercury finally got an attack. Bubble Spray was fine, but she was always playing the "support" role, she finally gets a "damage dealing" attack. Haha :D

I agree about the fire vs ice thing, but why are you still trying to find logic in Sailor Moon. The logic didn't exist since episode 1 of the first anime x)

I agree with SuperSaiyen that we shouldn't care BUT I thought it was kinda unrealistic how Ami was like "durrhurr I'm gonna go to Germany!" and then "LOL JK" two seconds later... -w-;

The only reason I can see why Sailor Mars couldn't use her fire attack, was because she was too cold, or something like that. Yaya, Mercury got a new attack, but her transforming music is still annoying. It sounds like a fire truck ._.

yeah not the best episode. it was really unevenly paced in the 2nd half, even though the 1st half was really well done. i would've liked all the new transformations at the same time but i guess one is okay. i'm just glad ami can stop with that damn shabon spray.

I wanted so hard to like this episode, I really truly did. I like Ami. And OMG I am so glad we finally get to see Sabao Spray upgraded to the actually USEFUL Shine Aqua Illusion (which might be my favorite Mercury attack in terms of animation...)

But...so many nonsense things. How does Berthier's plan work? People will just keep eating ice cream there for the next 1,000 years, thereby making it...impossible to put a Crystal Point there? Sweetie, there is no store on EARTH that is going to last for a thousand years, regardless of whether or not it's made of evil magic. And why on Earth were Luna and Artemis holding out on the star pens? If they were just lying around waiting to be used, why didn't they give them to the senshi back before...you know...the girls died in the first season? Are Luna and Artemis just jerks? Did they lose the pens before? Did they magically forget and then magically remember the pens existed? Did the pens have to be carefully handcrafted by...cats? It's such nonsense.

And how...explain to me the logic about how Mars' attacks would not work on ice. Because usually when I heat up an ice cube it melts. Although at one point they did say it was too cold to use their powers. And...I'm pretty sure they worked just fine at the freezing North Pole at the end of the first season. Maybe the walk-in fridge was colder than the North Pole? Even so--their powers must really suck if they have a limited temperature range in which they can be used o_O; And...and yet...attacking ice with MORE ice somehow makes the first kind of ice...freeze more? Um what?

Also we have mysterious stalk-y Mamoru, who just happens to be in all the right places at all the right times and randomly escorting around a nine-year-old around Tokyo while no one seems to care...and Rubeus, who has a "I will now explain our evil plan even though I'm pretty sure all of my subordinates are clear on the details" moment.

Sigh...I hope the next episode is better. Burning Mandala, here we come!

Reasoning in this episode was non existant. New attack is nice, but Chibi-Usa being a bitch to Ami is the reason she has her epiphany? I want to slap that brat.

So many funny comments in this discussion episode. I love it!

Like the others I agree it's odd that Rei would have trouble with an ice monster, but it's within my suspension of disbelief.

To be honest, Ami leaving for Germany was kind of sudden in and of itself. It's such a coincidence because I just visited Germany this January, and now I watch this episode.

But anyway, I'm glad that Ami got such a powerful new move. She really needed one.

P.S. All this ice cream is making me crave a Häagen-Dazs / Ben & Jerry's. Argh, too bad I don't have any right now.

Honestly, if this was the real world and Ami wasn't my favorite character...
I would have been disappointed if she didn't go to Germany to get into a prestigious doctorate school. That's her life -- to study for that moment.
I feel like if they really need her help that bad to win against the enemy, she might as well be the leader at that point, ahah.

Still a cute enjoyable episode even if the logic wasn't all there. ^_^;
Kinda wishing these filler episodes would be over so we can start the real Black Moon arc... monster of the week episodes get old pretty quick.. :/

uau nice episode. Liked decision of amy, For a moment I thought she was gone for real.
But she brushed aside in favor of the teamwork.

who knew water was strong against ice...

chibi-Usa has a lot of growing up to do. real friends honor each other's wishes, and the enemies don't go on vacation, so someone has to make sacrifices to stop them, right? the start of the episode had a good pace, but the second half became a little disjointed and rushed.

i like that sailor mercury finally has a decent ability that isn't all about crowd control! still a somewhat decent episode even though the logic wasn't really there. i did wish ami went to germany, though the whole idea of going to germany was sudden. it would have been interesting to see how the senshi cope without sailor mercury, but oh well.

They got their upgrade weapons, and Ami wasn't there, and someone commented "I guess Ami-chan don't need these anymore". That was already pretty sad.

Then at the last moment, it turns out Usagi's gift is Ami's new weapons.
Then there's a frame of Ami's profile running back to her friends, while the music is playing (which reminds of K-On! last ep, where Yui running back to her friends, all the while a very inspirational song is playing).
I love this running motif. Already it's used in the ED clip. Hope there's more of it.

The song is so damn nice. They play a whole song!!! This is the second insert song?? After the one in Season 1 where Mako protected her childhood friend?

Oh I hear this ep is filler.

Hahaha Sailor Moon so far for me is all about fillers. The fillers outright beat the manga material.
Remember Nephrite and Naru?? Or Rhett Butler? Or 2 episodes featuring Ami's (near) boyfriend?
And they gave each character their own episode. Ami didn't get hers in the Hell Tree arc, but this makes up for that. Ami's episode is never, ever not good!

This one has no Tuxedo Mask, so, A+.

I didn't really like this episode. The plot didn't do much to engage me and there wasn't really much good action/humor/emotion to lift it up. I also felt Ami's reason for staying was sorta shallow.

Luna's reasoning is really inconsistent. She gets pissy at Usagi for not taking her duty seriously enough or for being selfish despite the fact Usagi's rarely actually neglecting her duty in the end and isn't all that selfish, just a bit immature. But then she still gets pissy with Usagi when she points out that losing one of the most valuable members of the team would actually kinda suck because she's not considering Ami's feelings enough. When Ami leaving the country to study in Germany, for admittedly understandable reasons, was basically abandoning her duty and kinda selfish. (But not unreasonably selfish really, my complaint is just Luna being so inconsistent here.)

Unless it's freezing, water's actually surprisingly good at melting ice. It transfers heat fairly well which heats the ice up and causes it to melt.

Nice to finally have an Ami-centered episode, and to have Chibi-Usa actually act somewhat likeable for once, but I don't get why Rei couldn't stop the enemy, fire melts ice, you know.
