| This show is so boring, and I can't get invested in anything that's going on... I've stuck it out this far, so I'll finish it, but I'll probably be giving it a 2/10. By 18 episodes, I would have expected *something* interesting to have happened by now. |

| I think there should be a Bechdel-Tatsuya test** for this series. Basically, an episode passes the test if there is at least one scene where at least two characters (neither of which are Tatsuya) do not talk about or mention Tatsuya in any capacity. It'd be interesting to see how many and which episodes come out unscathed. ** 1. It has to have at least two non-Tatsuya characters in it, 2. who talk to each other, 3. about something besides Tatsuya. |

The original test was intended to apply to stories as a whole, as far as I am aware. Modified to be solely about the relation to the main character, I'm pretty sure Mahouka as a whole passes it already, but that doesn't change the fact that Tatsuya is a black hole of a character at times. Likewise I am certain that I could write a short story without a black hole character that fails this test with regards to, say, the story's main villain. The change you've suggested applies it episode by episode, which raises several questions: 1. Why should anyone care if a given episode fails it? I am almost certain that shows without characters as all-encompassing as Tatsuya would fail this test for some episodes. 2. How many times should the test 'fail' for the story as a whole to 'fail?' 3. Why is it valid to conclude that "X episodes failing this test" actually indicates that Tatsuya is a black hole character, as opposed to basing this on the general way the story presents him? The problem of whether the test measures anything worth measuring still remains. I would call Tatsuya a black hole character no matter how many episodes pass or fail this modified test. In short I do not believe the Bechdel test provides an accurate measure of what it is supposed to measure, and I am not convinced modifying the test in the way you describe changes this. I apologize if any of this sounds rude or overly dismissive but I do not like "mary sue calculators" (which seems to be what you have turned this test into) and similar things (such as the Bechdel test in its original form). It is my opinion that they encourage people to find an easy answer without thinking about whether the answer they're getting is actually an answer to the question they're asking, and to unthinkingly accept the opinion of somebody else as their own. |

| Picked up an episode from this series after a long drop - hell, Juumonji or Ichijou are so much more interesting than the MCs. I wish for the upteenth time that this series had been about conflicts of clan-oriented magical prodigies with normal set of emotions, not an OP incestual pair of Sues. |
| Lol that CG at the dance was terrible. This arc was pretty boring, but it had its few moments. The only good things about this anime is the visuals and ED 2, but the LN is rated fairly high, so i'm guessing MADHOUSE fucked this one up,doesn't seem like them, but oh well, no one is perfect. |

| Well, this arc ends faster that I thought. Good news then, they could have more episodes for Yokohama. Have slight doubt that they would animate the Beach sidestory in the future, since what Fujibayashi said in this episode basically covered that (in terms of information). Good episode this one. Great to see Decomposition in action as well. Well now, bring on Yokohama. |
