| It's pretty obvious that the princess is alive and not dead |
| This first episode was super engaging! Slaine seems useless so far (also his voice doesn't seem to match his character???) but Inaho is pretty funny lol. The premise itself is super cool - Martians vs. Earthlings (or "Terrans"). I agree it's pretty obvious the princess isn't dead, but using the attacks as an excuse to wage war on Earth - looks like the Knights just want to kill everyone huh? I'm wondering if the attack was planned by them or if it was a group of people on Earth and they're just taking advantage of it. I thought the music was pretty good, especially at the end, and the animation seemed pretty sweet as well. The info dumps in the beginning were shoddily done but I'm hoping the plot will be good later on, because they have plenty of things to explore. I just hope that I don't get too sick of the MCs lol :P Also, the ED was awesome and flowed/fit in perfectly with the show, but I guess I should expect that from Kalafina XD |
| Impressive visual but not really impressive plot... So Martians send their princess and she isn't like SUPER guarded by like air-support snipers and/or mechs or shit? No personal guards as well? 4 escort cars? and a not so crowded parade makes it seem like people on earth don't even give a F-k. Is this anime even serious? This was the most ridiculously staged assassination = "reason to start war" scene i have ever seen lol. At this point, earthlings, if they have brains (which i doubt since they were ridiculously stupid not to take measures to prevent this) should realize martians themselves have to be behind this. P.S both main characters seem plain and boring.. Hopefully this will change in coming episodes. P.S.S Knowing how Martians are not to be trusted, earthlings still have no air defense systems, just mechs? |
| OMFG! What an incredible episode The first half was slow but the second half was simply great...man the music and the nuke scene were perfectly in sync and great.Sawano's done it again. Animation is also good.When the bomb hit the city,the nearby people turned into ash in an instant..they showed it really good how a bomb explodes. My expectations raised a lot. (Btw wtf is wrong with the security..I mean she is the princess,so there should be a lot of security and all...but the final bomb blast scene made me forget about the fault) |

| Actually better than I expected...I cracked up so hard when Inaho said all deadpan : "There's a missile coming." Loved the music, and the art was pretty good too. |

| Such an interesting story. A very nice visual effects and good performing some CGI. Maybe not too much hope, but i guess this show can bring such a satisfaction too me. Thats nice to seeing some show like these. I am not gonna lie. Let see how Earth can defend theirs homeland from the emperor Versitian guardian squadrons. |

| With how advanced things in the space industry have become since 2014, and how closer and closer it is for humans to make their return to Moon and even its first arrival on Mars, it's only right for me to finally watch this show. The introduction was pretty solid in the way it briefly shows the main characters from both the Earth and Mars faction, got some good information on their histories as well as the advanced technology, namely 'Hypergate' which is obviously a well-known mode of transportation in the realm of sci-fi, but also one called 'Aldnoah' with its godlike powers, interesting... Well, what a way to start this original series by ending the first ep with a literal bang, anyone over in New Orleans will that was not satisfied with the pretty fireworks on the 4th of July would surely enjoy a 2 KM long castle dropping on their backyard and making a huge bang, right? Anyways, such a bombastic scene, the nuclear-like explosion wiping off the city is animated in a gloriously chaotic fluidity along with the wonderfully composed OST by none other than the man himself, Hiroyuki Sawano and the vocals by Mizuki. If you want to create an original story about some insane planetary wars, then this is how you fucking do it! The OP was nice and melodic with its beautiful vocals, pretty nice visuals, but I don't generally like OPs which uses a lot of the scenes from future eps... |

| So, another "racism and terrorism" kind of mecha anime, I expected a more futuristic setting, but other than the mechas and the space stuff the setting seems rather contemporary. Lots of good action and explotions in this first episode. |

| Glad earth is the only place where we could live currently. I've an idea about the workings of this series, so I was expecting something worse right off the bat, but this was okay, I mean the concept and everything is still the same old, "putting people of x community down because y community exists", but yeah, the music is... some real good music to ears. Also, I really wonder how they could let their princess go visit the place they're in war with such minimal security lol. Normal ministers get more cars and guards than this. Wondering when she will come back to life tho? Kalafina OP is again chef's kiss. Decent start and RIP New Orleans. |

| Would've liked more elaboration on the supposed colonisation of Mars, which doesn't have a habitable environment by default. The anime mentions a vague "Aldnoah technology" and a "Hypergate" without establishing what their function or utility is, besides them implicitly being trailblazing discoveries that helped them terraform Mars, somehow. From what we've seen so far, all the Vers people still seem to be living in space stations orbiting the Earth, rather than the surface of Mars. How did the Hypergate assist in the terraforming effort? What about the cold temperatures, lack of water, lack of a magnetic field, the C02-abundant atmosphere, or solar winds? Inaho seems to have as much life in him as the eggs he was going on about throughout the episode, but maybe there's more to him. The Vers commanders all wearing archaic, 19th century military jackets is hilarious as well. Even this futuristic setting has room for cosplayers. |
