I totally agree that viewers got to see a lil
.. We actually got to see a lil of everything because they rushed the entire manga of over 120 chapters in 11 episodes... Remember in the end episode 4... We saw the kids were in the jungle after the shelter was destroyed being chased by demons... We have no clue as to how the kids escaped and found the temple...

And I think it's different from the "chicken feeling bad for humans" logic because we can basically live without eating chickens.. It's a choice not a need...

Fair enough. It would have worked better if they at least spent this season exploring the Demons village or showing us some sides of Demons to let us be convinced with Emma's ideology and leave this final attack sequence to a 3rd season.

There're a lot of other problems. I expected the flashback to show us how he managed to develop this magical drug but it showed nothing? This "drug" still feels like a plot device that appeared literally out of nowhere just to progress the plot. I expected the flashback to show information I was waiting to know, but it was only for 7 minutes and showed nothing significant.

Exactly... Even though they made the anime different from the manga, they should have kept the season 2 for the build up for the finale in season 3..
There are so many unanswered questions and open points which the simply can't cover in 3 episodes...
Season 2 should have emphasized on character development and exploration of the outside world...
How can so many above 4 years sheltered kid manage to live in a place surrounded by demons... That's what we needed in season 2..

But from what they showed it seemed way to convenient..

Norman just keeps moving forward, until he destroys his enemies.

No but seriously, this was definitely the best episode in a long while, and it was mostly due to shit actually happening and getting to SEE plot development and backstory as opposed to just hearing about it around a campfire. This continues to be a pretty interesting dilemma, and the scene towards the end with the village was effective enough. Overall though, while this is an improvement, it does feel a bit too little too late in a lot ways. These ideas and developments are still built on an incredibly rocky foundation, and it's hard to say if I'm really back to being invested again like with the first season. At least I'm feeling something again outside of boredom, and if nothing else I'm more interested in how things are going to wrap up now even if I have a good guess on how things will go.

THAT WAS INSANEEE HOLY SHIT.

starting off with how norman was at lambda and how he escaped, all done greatly in about 5 minutes. they did the "im willing to become a god or a devil" rly poorly. the timing for that line was rly bad i was rly anticipating it but im just dissapointed on that now. though that last scene with him wavering on his actions, was amazing holy fucking shit. chills all over my spines.

MARTHA, WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!

EMMA, Why did you say that name?! oh he actually went through with it. Interesting.

Yeah, this is actually pretty mediocre. I thought that drug makes absolutely no sense, and is the biggest work of fiction this anime offered so far.

6/10, I think this show is slowly getting worse every episode.

Lots of shounen moments btw. Everyone comes in the nick of time. Also the ninja mortals made me laugh a bit. Maybe I'm seeing what I'm seeing because I have such low expectations now. But I'm not enjoying it as much as last sseason.

Glad Emma's dilemma is finally affecting Norman. This is what I always wanted to see. Now that both conflicts are revealed to him, I wonder what choices he and the rest of the group will make in future episodes.

Quite the turning point for me. Makes me question my verdict on this season.

I'm still on Team Norman, but I think him hearing the demon girl was named "Emma" made him relate her and all demons to Emma and humans. Very excited for the next episode.

I knew one part of me likes this second season, amidst of all the hate I hear from the fans of the manga and anime-only fans alike. But damn...for a lack of better words, this is the BEST episode of The Promised Neverland Season 2.

The struggle to find Mujika and Sonju is ON, and it was not an easy journey. Numerous dangers awaits them before they can even meet the two demons who are travelling for their peace and security. But what dazes them with their brief reunion is something horrific and unfathomable. Norman broke his promise, and with the help of his party of demon-hating humans, they wreak havoc and destruction on the Demon village.

So it seems like Norman was taken in by Peter Ratri, the headkeeper of the human farms and the upholder of the Promise. Norman unsurprisingly meets all the expectations of the Lambda facility, but at the other side of the testing room lies the true colors of this experimental grounds. Luckily, Norman and a person named Vincent manages to find a way to break free from the prison, and with the addition of others, they set off to their unknown escapades and adventures. And this led Norman to the conclusion that they shall destroy and annihilate the whole swath of demons.

You know...I'm getting Attack on Titan vibes here. Because for how much the demons are portrayed as antagonistic monsters to Emma and her siblings, the truth is...they're just equivalent to the humans as well. The cries, the pain, the agony, the bloodshed, the desperation, YOU CAN HEAR ALL OF THEM AS THE VILLAGE BURNS. And even still Norman pushes on, almost killing a young child crying for his grandfather (that gramps is actually the one that Emma & co. met in their current shelter). Just one name stopped Norman from killing the young girl, the name "Emma". A realization hits him suddenly as she can't kill a person who has the same name as his loved one. What's more unexpected is that the grandfather has the same powers as Mujika!!! That is a development, but sadly we're not going to anymore details on that.

As the episode ends, we got a Norman being met by Emma & Ray as they watch the village burn and continue to spiral out of control. A near, spitting image of a Hell on Earth!!!

Best episode of this second season, and it can possibly match some of the (weaker) episodes of the first. I just hope that they continue down this route, because the middle part of this season just sank the whole ship out of balance. Hopefully we can get a "passable" ending if you know what I mean.

Honestly, that was a solid episode with the exception of the CG abomination returning. Why on Earth did they think that thing looked presentable?! The director must be so sad. He directed Elfen Lied with a hentai studio in 2004 and that had better CG than this sequel to a hit anime in 2021!

The morality of this story very low. IRL when someone eats you and knows what they are doing, you don't wanna be friends with them. It's a scenario for becoming a victim hoping "the other party will change". Showing all those monsters die and try to create sympathy, making Norman the antagonist was a very cheap trick. Disgusted that this is a children's story.

Everything considered, this is a weird episode. It’s really great, best if the season, but from what I gathered many people, mostly manga readers have already dropped this show due to it’s original story.

But that aside, this episode is hands down the best of the season, everyone has a good scene, watching Emma confront Norman at the end, Norman’s ideology being shaken after seeing the damage, and even the scene with Ray jumping in to shoot the demon in the eye was badass. Sonju and Mujika were both cool this episode, and even Don and Gilda, being only in the background, was neat, and it made them feel like they actually contributed to the progression of the show

This episode is amazing, but held back due to the show it’s in

Intense episode.
So many things feel missing from the part at testing facility like was Norman really experimented on, or was he just giving tests and the escape felt rushed but I understand why.
I liked that scene with kid Norman.....feel bad for him tbh.
I guess we can somewhat be sad about the demons although it would've been better if some more time was given to us to see the demons as a species and not just monsters.
Just don't want it to end it with Norman being convinced by Emma after coming this far.
Also I feel like someone important is gonna die

It was nice to see that sequence with Norman with the test and how he escaped but damn that second part damn it was painful to watch, I don't even know if the demons are bad or not but it was really sad to see the grandfather and the little girl... so Norman really betrayed us and still activated his plan to kill all the demons, that's harsh

Pretty well directed episode. The horror and overall scope of LAMBDA was pretty effectively conveyed, and at the same time, the new characters were developed a bit. If you missed it, the guy hanging from the chains at 5:00 is Zazie. I particularly liked the part where Norman and his escorts walk past the windows containing experiment subjects and a bunch of toys, then one full of wild demons ripping kids apart. This is the kind of "showing not telling" that the show has failed to do for the most part up to this episode.

Later, in the forest, the buildup to the presence of the wild demons was slow enough to create some tension, and by the time one appeared, enough was built up to where the scene was actually kind of exciting. Compare that to episode one, where literally the first scene is a flash-forward of the kids running from a wild demon, which had zero impact. And yeah I know the CGI sucks, but at this point they're pretty much locked in to using that asset, it seems. The lighting in the forest to indicate the passage of time was also a nice touch.

Finally, I think the carnage in the demon town was pretty disturbing. Seeing the panic and fear in the townspeople as their loved ones mutated and began to kill one other was effective in portraying them as true victims. This kind of emotional weight was needed to build Emma's case (I really hate that I have to make this distinction, but I mean the human, not the demon).

The writing, on the other hand, was pretty lazy at times. How exactly did Norman get parts for a bomb, assemble it, and plant it without being detected? If they had the time to show those shots of him playing chess with himself they could have given some hints as to how he actually accomplished his plan. I get the feeling that even the writers themselves don't know. It's also way too convenient that Emma/Mujika and friends just happened to be within earshot of Norman's bombs, despite the show making it seem like they traveled a really long way to find them. Moreover, the demon loli just happening to be named Emma is also pretty corny, and wasn't even really needed for that particular scene to evoke empathy from Norman. Just kind of cheap.

Best episode of the season by far though. I would say it's a 7/10. Kind of just makes me sad though, because it's clear that this could have been a really good season if it had gotten 24 episodes.

Oh, and weekly reminder that there is still no sign of Isabella despite her being built up as the new main antagonist back in episode 4 or whenever it was.

OK, this season has been an absolute car crash, but I have to give credit where it's due as this was a genuinely good episode. The Lambda flashback effectively conveyed the atrocities committed there and exactly why Norman and his merry men became so willing to commit genocide (though, if this sequence was going to be included anyway, why didn't we get it last week instead of the terrible exposition dump of the events?), while the realities of that genocide were presented with effective brutality and emotion (even if I still think that the humanising of the demons is the dumbest thing in this entire show).

My only nitpick really would be a question of why Norman is putting himself right in the line of fire by entering the city when it's burning to the ground and when feral demons are running around. It's necessary from a plot perspective to shake his resolve, but absolutely moronic from any sort of logical perspective.

This episode is solid. Yes it become like action genre instead psychological. But for action genre, this is very good episode.

Next kinda predictable, without "promised", the story become simple. As simple as Mujika's necklace role, for Emma's plot armor.

1. Mama/grandma/peter will appear soon, and become main target of united lambda+grace field. They defeat the villain and spread Mujika's blood. Human and demon live together. Medetashi medetashi.
2. Lambda survivors help by Mujika's blood. They finally know there is a good demon. Mujika's blood actually can tame demon's hunger too. Mama appear after killing demon's royals and Peter. They live together. Medetashi medetashi.
3. After point 1 or 2, Mama appear and show the children a way to human world, she bring Phil and friends also. Medetashi medetashi.

Norman backstory at Lambda facility and the first met with Doctor 'insane' Ratri. Big brain Norman surely expected with all of his scheme to ran away. Unfortunately, its looks like he got poisoned by those drugs, forcing him to rushed a thing and broke the promise with Emma. Guess what after that? The child demon with the name of Emma doubting his heart and mind which was already made up before. Guess what else? The old demon actually had the same power like Mujika, and somehow its inflicted the damage to Norman too. Gladly Emma number two stop the scene before everything got pretty mess up again. I wonder whats goin to happened between them and the rest of the Lambda's people with those kind of route. Lets see next!

I dislike how this anime tries to portray demons in a good light. Besides that, it was good episode and they finally explained something people were complaining episodes ago.
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

By this season's standards, this was actually a good episode. I am guessing that guy that gave Norman the pen was Smee, cause we don't ever really saw his face before even in the manga.

The OST while Norman was fucking up the village was fantastic, and that whole sequence has some good directing too. They really pulled of a Martha from Batman v Superman lmao. I wonder how they'll end this. 3 more episodes.

This episode was so intense, it really broke my heart seeing all the demons struggling to understand what's going on and losing their family members right in front of their eyes. Norman's flashback was a little short, I wish we were shown more of how he escaped, but it didn't ruin the mood or tone of the storyline too badly.

I loved when Emma saw Norman as a scared crying boy, it reminds me that he's still a little kid that had to go through and witness horrific things. If he was meant to be shown doubting his actions however, it could have been done better, it's out of character.

Also, am I the only one who shares Emma's ideologies? I get that they're rash and logically impossible but...I guess I'm just a hopeless optimist.

Looking forward to the next episode!

FINALLY WE SEE WHAT'S BEHIND THE DOOR. Wasn't a lot of actual animation, but it's something interesting. The shot of Barbara cowering while a demon was devouring someone in front of her hit me hard.

The demon girl being named Emma... that just struck me as pretty dumb for a plot twist.

So now what? Is Grandpa demon or Mujika or whoever has that magic blood going to give all of the other demons some so they'll turn permanently human-like and Emma will make everyone pinkie promise not to eat humans anymore?

I feel kind of bad for the demons, but not that bad. I also would be fine with Emma dying about now.

This episode was one of the best episodes of the season by far. I loved getting to actually see lambda animated (though it sucks that they didn’t go into enough detail, nor did we see a certain character) and getting a glimpse into Norman’s mind. And that ending scene with the massacre is the first time I’ve actually felt strong emotions this season. Seeing Norman in that state where he just wants to charge ahead and destroy the demons was like wow, I just couldn’t believe how dark he’d gotten, but man as he started to waver when he saw the horror around him, seeing families getting destroyed when all he wanted was for his family to survive, the demon being named Emma and damn, when Emma and ray arrived and it showed that young Norman yes I cried. Didn’t think this season would make me cry at all but the love that grew from s1 and starting the manga is still there, so seeing that got to me. Hopefully Norman will stop carrying so much responsibility, actually talk to Emma and ray and hopefully be able to manage all these people, the grace field kids, the lambda kids and sonju and mujika so that they can actually work together to do some good.

Oh, man, that was harsh...

I admit I was surprised to see so many TPN fans rooting for genocide (maybe as an extension of their anger towards the anime producers) and I was curious to see what the show had in store to convince them otherwise. I was afraid that Emma would simply come up with an appeal to emotion as she did with the children in the last episode, especially because there were also several strategic arguments she could bring up against Norman.

But no arguments could be as convincing as showing the damage being done. And, boy, that was heartbreaking! (Except for that Martha reference, of course...)

I hope you guys who complained about Emma rethink your position after this episode. Maybe now you see that her longing for peace is not about holding hands with the demons and sing Kumbaya. It's about not committing atrocities like these. It's about not becoming the monster you fear so much.

I don't think she will which is really disappointing because she previously was a good character. But they've gone and done the predictable and annoying 'feeling bad for the enemies' trope/concept. It's so overdone and makes no sense, especially because she literally saw Connie's body in season 1.

No, fortunately, you are not. And her ideas are not as illogical as they may seem. It is indeed possible to long for peace and goodness while admitting the cruel nature of the world around you. It is possible to fight the enemy without attributing their guilt to all the people of the group they belong to. It's just hard to think about it when you are feeling menaced all the time. That's why Emma is so misunderstood.
