This definitely felt like watching a protagonist advancing his way in a dungeon crawler type of game with the show's leveling system.

Not to mention, he also had to face a serpent boss too. One thing though, Jin-Woo seems like the type of guy that isn't afraid to take on what's ahead no matter how challenging as it seems. He also has a somewhat tactical mind as he made his way in that dungeon. Anime is also starting to live up itself with all the 'leveling' stat showing up. New items are being introduced too.

Hell of an episode and we're back to all the action.

Jinwoo's first real fight as he starts leveling up on his own.

Venturing into an instance dungeon with the subway station as its entrance, Jinwoo defeats monsters one after another, leveling up along the way. As he progresses, a long staircase leading deeper underground appears in Jinwoo's path. Stepping down to the lower level, Jinwoo arrives at a decrepit and rusted platform. There, a colossal serpent awaits him, towering above. To leave the dungeon, he must defeat the colossal serpent, and so the showdown between him and the serpent begins.

It still bugs me, even in the anime, that Jinwoo went off to prioritize dungeon crawling instead of, you know, checking up on his traumatized healer friend first, or even his own mother. We're getting more Joohee content, which is great because, if I recall correctly, we don't see much of her after the first dungeon for a while. But man, A-1 really nailed this episode. I always had my worries about Solo Leveling getting an adaptation, considering how Japan handles Manhwas, but A-1 seems to genuinely care. From the animation to the soundtrack, everything was perfect. Even the mini golem "fight" was well done. Thank you, A-1. This is everything I could have wished for.

Back then, Jinwoo couldn't even beat a boss, and now he's defeated two in one day.

Solo Leveling cliffhangers are back! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Jinwoo enters an instance dungeon via the subway entrance and levels up by defeating tons of monsters.
Soon, as he goes deeper into the basement, Jinwoo finds himself with a massive snake towering over him.

Taito Ban's voice acting is incredibly impressive! I can't still move on from episode 2, especially the monologue with screaming in the background, that was peak!
And yet this scene where Jinwoo screams while attacking the huge snake was so hype!
Animations are smooth and the visuals are stunning! This episode is truly banger!

Earlier episodes already established that there's no such thing as leveling up nor the concept of going stronger by exerting efforts,
And someone just gave Jinwoo a system which he's the only one who can level up.
You'll love to see this unique power fantasy, he really deserve this glow up after all he went through previously as "the weakest hunter of all mankind"

A1 Pictures, sticking to the source material of both the manhwa and novels, is a big win.
These guys are not playing around with this adaptation, I have complete faith in them.

I can't wait for the next episode. Thanks for the meal.

That fight against the giant serpent went crazy. Jinwoo is becoming way stronger and by extension, much more confident in himself. I mean, he nonchalantly took down a golem with a single throw from a sword on its last legs ๐Ÿ’€ his progression so far has been impressive.

So apparently in the international version the OP is fully in English, while in the Japanese version a part of it is in Japanese. Interesting.

20 gold must be very valuable, now that he said that
I wonder where do these names like briga, razan, kasaka, etc. come from. Do they mean anything?
Omg I love the last part of the battle with rough lines
18:05 In the Japanese version it's "Hataoka station".

The animation was amazing this episode. Nice to see Jinwoo getting stronger finally. Really looking forward to him being badass more.

Yeah, after ep4 I think it's safe to drop this show now since there's no interesting plot left for the show , because it'd follow a super predictable plotline from here.

Our mc, Kirito at home, master Jinwoo has shown to become this op competent guy now in a spam of 1 day combat and a few days of training cuz he has higher stat now :>
All his past harsh experience of failing to fight a Goblin is only because he lacks the stat, not because he never use his brain or hone his combat skill.
It's all because he lacks the stat that he failed so miserably in the past :>

Anyway, kinda lose interest in the story already. Wish those who stay enjoy the animation.

This episode was full of fight scenes. Loved them cause they were animated very well.

Jinwoo is finally getting OP. I'm guessing the more he levels up the more his personality will change.

Waiting for the next episode. Kinda wish I didn't watch this now so I could binge it later.

So lvl unknown as I don't think it was shown how many levels he received after defeating Kasaka, I suppose around 18 aybe 20, make him already above D-rank, I suppose he is comparable to C-rank right now, despite still being oficially an E-rank hunter with pro-gaming set which allows him to level up. I wish the multiple lycan scene would be better animated but so far fine episode, anything outstanding in this episode for the story, good music, I wonder what'll happen next.

Facing the steel-fanged lycan black wolves alone, Jin-woo is in danger unless he can brandish a weapon quick, and compared to the dungeon, this Instance dungeon feels like child's play for him to understand how the system works as he progresses along. But still, this is Jin-woo's story of literally soloing through the many monsters the system can spawn at him, pushing him far beyond his limits. Joo-hee gets a call from the Hunters' Assocation to free up her space in healers, and Jin-woo is able to assimilate what works for and against him, as he walks down a stairway to find a potential monster boss.

True enough, he encounters one: the orange-tiled blue venom-fanged kasaka, which throws its punches at him, no matter how much Jin-woo tries to run for his life. He certainly may be the Weakest of All Mankind, but what Jin-woo has is his persistence to take it down by any means, and holy moly, A-1 cooked this fight up to 11. The rewards are exponential as the Instance dungeon returns back to normal, and Jin-woo surfaces back to Earth, realizing a dungeon break that has all Hunters engaged regardless of ranks. Even after a week, Joo-hee is still shaken up, but Jin-woo knows that he can take down the monster by assistance alone for other Hunters to finish the job.

With a strike, the D-Rank golem is down, and Jin-woo fades into darkness...not without Joo-hee noticing him. Remain in darkness...

“Kindness won’t save me so I’ll get stronger” Man, I can’t lie. I got chills. Sawano and A-1 delivered a masterclass.. the boss fight was immaculate and I felt every bit of Jinwoo’s anger, sadness and insecurity in that final strike. His seiyuu did an amazing job.

Jinwoo admitting he’s tired of being looked down upon and being weak was so damn powerful man. Reminds me of the black clover quote “there’s no shame in being weak, only in staying weak” his determination to get stronger one monster at a time and take care of his mother and sister is so admirable. There’s also just that social stigma he’s trying to beat. People talking shit about him behind his back and not thinking he’ll amount to anything. I love how real he feels sometimes.

Like I said, A-1 cooked. The animation during the entire dungeon clearing was great, but especially during the boss fight. I’m taking peak A-1 over damn near anyone besides ufo these days. The camera angles, cinematography, just wow.

Taking down the golem that other top hunters were struggling with in just 1 throw.. that dungeon really has completely changed the trajectory of Jinwoo’s life. Can’t wait to see where he goes from here.. he won’t be getting mocked for being weak anymore that’s for sure..

Also bro’s arm is JACKED. Those pushups and exercises really paying off lmao

The production and voice acting are really carrying this show. Because it consistently looks great and the voice for Sung is always belting out his lines. The emotion in his voice can be felt every time an intense scene happens. While the story and the world aren't doing much for me. Sung continually fighting the steel fang wolves was cool until it wasn't anymore. I understand he found some easy monsters to kill and level up fast but it was weird how he kept trying to talk himself into leaving only to change his mind at the end each time. He could've easily left and leveled up somewhere else instead. Keeping going further into the dungeon alone is not a good idea, idk what Sung was thinking. That giant blue serpent was a boss much stronger than him which he beat through shear luck. His rapid increase in strength is something I'm hesitant about, the whole going from weakest to strongest trope isn't one of my favorite but we'll see how Sung continues to improve. I think he worked really well in a group setting in those first episodes and I like his character a lot better in that compared to these lone adventures, maybe just with some stronger allies instead of people who run.

Well, this episode will shut up a lot of people that initially though that A1 was not on par to deliver the quality animation that the manhwa deserved.

Such a HYPE episode... Hiroyuki Sawano delivering on the theme on that fight perfectly!

Also, 10/10 on Taito Ban voice acting

After this episode I am 100% sure that ARISE will be very VERY well animated :D

Nice episode but the main heroine that I assumed is losing her place... damn.
I will definitely remember this fallen heroine called Joo-Hee Lee. ๐Ÿ˜’
Now then, who to ship? ๐Ÿ˜–
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Beautiful episode. We saw Jin-woo's real journey's start in the dungeon. He got through his perseverance and hard work and got constantly stronger.

Really loved the fight against Rasaka. Also the OST is fantastic.

And we got to see how strong he became. He took down a golem in a single shot which even many Hunters couldn't defeat together. But this is only the start.Eagerly waiting for the next episode.

Again, more tutorial-esque episode. It's like watching a video game playthrough.
Generic monsters, generic fights, absolutely nothing at stake, no sense of danger, not worried for characters, nothing to lose, cheap pseudo-cliffhangers just to push people to buy the source material.
Disappointing so far. Surely overhyped...
Here we go again with the "just wait for next episode" with promise of the story really taking off next week... they say that every week :/
If at least the S-class guys in the first episode had done something impressive/catchy... but if this was supposed to be a teasing for the top hunters... yikes.

I'm not officially giving a rating to a show until episode 12, so I'll wait, but so far, it's between a 4/10 and 5/10 with essentially no potential for rewatch. Sorry to break it to you.

Did we even watch the same episode???
- It's episode 4 and he was level one. Why wouldn't he be in a tutorial-esque situation?
- Nothing at stake? He could've died at any given moment!
- Cliffhanger? What are you talking about? This episode didn't have a cliffhanger.
- The monster was really well animated and wasn't a generic one because there aren't anymore similar ones in the story. Orc are generic monsters in the series, they show up a lot.

So he goes from not being able to beat 1 wolf, to being able to just beat 2, to being able to beat 20, then being able to solo a boss unarmed that is stronger than the boss on the street that a full team with gear couldn't beat.

You know how Force Awakens sucked in part because Rey was a Mary Sue who could beat a Sith Lord trained by Luke Skywalker despite having never used a sword before?

This guy is 100x worse.

Also the fight scenes were pretty terrible.

Oh well, wasn't expecting much but this is well below.
