THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Welp, the first half of this episode got pretty intense. That brutal bite and vampiric transformation...

To my surprise, they actually didn't censor the violence. It got the point across but Jesus Christ, this look...

Glad to see Ruler taking on her role well this episode. Kinda nice to see Archer and Chiron working together.

Mmmh, it is R17+ they don't need to censor it. But I am confused after Re:Creators fiasco I could be losing the hope in this series too.

It was cool, even if some parts could've been better (but probably it's just me, I re-read this part of the LN multiple times, so I had my own imagine of the scene and I was simply caught off guard by the anime interpretation)

I got my Kyrie Eleison scene tho so I can't complain

Yes, Ruler has Command Spells. This has been said from like episode 5.

Darnic has been said multiple times to have soul-binding magic and to have even eaten souls, and for a vampire drinking blood is kinda like devouring one's soul so it works

You could google it. Remember that Servants in Fate are people from history and/or myths, so if you search their names on internet you'll find infos.

So, an Einzbern who looked a lot like Iri was Shirou master?
The Dracula fight scene was cool but felt a little short.
Also, Darnic's voice actor...
I know Nobuyuki Hiyama and I like his other roles, but dammit that high pitch voice was annoying IMO.

Overall, a really fun episode.

I thought Rulers only have 2 command spells for each servant.

Amakusa Shirou Tokisada is an apocryphal saint who lead a Christian rebellion against the Shogunate, and was beheaded at age 16. His final words were that he would return in the future and take his revenge.

You may know him from some other media, such as the original main villain of the Samurai Shodown series:

and the demon Tokisada from Shin Megami Tensei:

She has 14 in total for each side(so 14 for Black and 14 for Red, 28 in total). Don't listen to forcestriker. All he gives is false information.

Sry I can't do math.

Yeah, 28. 2 per Servant. I was thinking of a normal HGW.

If they adapted the religous debate of Vlad then it will make more sense why he didn't want to turn to a vampire even though the debate itself is not that good.

Ruler has two CS for each Servant.
As stated by others in this thread, that makes 28 in total. That big winged tatoo on her back is not a simple tatoo. We can also see that appearing and part of it disappearing in this episode, when she uses a CS.

Darnic said himself that he's from Fuyuki. In the Apocrypha world we know that the last HGW in Fuyuki was the Third one, in which Darnic participated. So that is the Third War, none of the events regarding Kiritsugu or the Fourth War (shown in Fate/Zero) happened here.
And it's stated that he's a Servant, so he can't quite be a Kiritsugu what if.
Even tho there will be interesting parallels between the two

this is a fucking disgrace, just end it already
they really had to go digging deep in some unknown tribal histories to come up with servants such as "shirou" and "karna" but to have dracula literally shake in fear of them and get killed by a couple daggers makes my skin crawl

also I like how grey this anime is with how the good guy jannu is actually more selfish than this evil "shirou" man. nice touch

Black Keys are literally holy weapon specialized in killing demons and vampires, and Shirou was also reciting a powerful exorcis-you know, nevermind

Man, I feel really bad for Vlad. He wanted to erase his reputation as a vampire, and he was forced by that shithead to not only turn into what he hates, but he was possessed by him too. In his own country (well, not exactly cause Hanging Garden of Babylon, bit it was still in Romania). What a way to go ;_;

He is a hero known at the very least by aprox 1,300,000,000 people. You not being in the same cultural sphere doesn't mean that he is not famous.

Also, it's really ironic for you to say that about Dracula's death when he was killed by a normal dagger in the Dracula novel. Using sacred daggers and a exorcism is far more than what it killed him in the story where he comes from.

It's not just about holy elemental, although the anime didn't really explain it. The Baptismal Rites the priest used for the exorcism turns it into a contest of faith where power levels are disregarded, and he secretly had a Ruler level of magic to pour into the ritual.

Regular elemental weaknesses aren't enough, vampires are weak to fire too and Vlad survived point blank fire Noble Phantasms from Karna, one of the strongest Servants, which is an incredible feat in of itself.

No, he's right. Holy =/= Christian, but Apo Materials describe Legend of Dracula:

Apo said:
Due to his oral tradition, he incarnates into his Dracula image. Transformation into a vampire.
Becoming Count Dracula, Vlad III's normal skills and Noble Phantasms are sealed in exchange for: extreme amplification of the body's ability, animal and fog shapeshifting, healing ability, Mystic Eyes of Enchantment, and a vulnerability to light and holy symbols weak point is also obtained.

So holy things in general, not just Christian, will hurt him.

Isn't the "holy" in vampire legends usually intended as Christian, or at least religious, tho?

Well 'holy', by definition, is religious or having a divine quality(which links back to religion anyway). Darnicula also gains some Dead Apostle attributes so, even if his fictional side is immune to non-Christian holy items, the part of him that shares the same nature as Dead Apostles wouldn't be.

Mmh, I see.

Thanks for clearing it, I always had doubts about that part of Legend of Dracula, since there's the whole "he is a vampire but not quite a DA" thing

Some people don't know/get it and (rightfully) ask explanations, but sadly these threads are also usually raided by trolls and shitposters so it's not that easy to have a decent discussion without insults, fake infos and misconceptions

I feel really bad for Vlad. He didn't want to be turned into Dracula, but he was forced by his idiot master. His transformation was great though. He looks very creepy. It would be really bad if he got the grail. Shirou took him out. He's going against the rules of the Holy Grail War to save humanity. It's interesting to know he's the first Ruler.

Really wish the subs would come out consistently......watched it raw since I'm an impatient bastard.

Vlad's transformation looked pretty crazy, and all of the servants fighting him was awesome. We finally got to see Ruler make use of her ability to command them.

Vlad is gone, and now Ruler is having a confrontation with Shirou.

After watching the subs, it's interesting to see that Shirou is also of the Ruler class (I was able to make that out when watching raw but I wanted to wait for confirmation), which I guess explains why the 3 Red faction servants mysteriously stopped attacking Vlad. Also, we got to learn Shirou's identity.

I do not know much about a lot of things. But this episode really did surprise me. Although I think I should've understood what kind of Ruler class is suppose to have since it was hinted in their class title. I never thought that would be the real case. The show improved a bit. I understood most of things, anf since i read your discussions before posting, i got the idea of rulers CS, also about the Iri lookalike.

The fights are great. How ruler got up there? And Dracula, still... Hurts after seeing Vlad wants to erase that title.

Talking about holy and Christian, i guess here in Indonesia its pretty much the same, holy=Christian, albeit we mustn't talk about religion a lot here.... Its a religious country afterall...

I don't like Vlad's Dracula form, but otherwise I really enjoyed the episode. Definitely didn't expect Darnic to take him over with his command seals. Jerk. It was mostly Darnic talking so I'm glad they showed Vlad resisting one last time before his end. Thank you for at least entertaining me for half the series, Vlad.

That was awesome.

Vlad went full vampire mode, kinda sad to seem him turn like that when he really didn't want too.

Jeanne's entrance against the vampire was epic, I loved how she appeared breaking that projectile directed at her. Guess it makes sense for Ruler to have the ability to command the servants since she does exist to mandate the war.

The fight against Vlad was awesome, A1 are doing a great job animating the fight scenes. Atalanta and Karna's shots are still the absolute best among all the fight scenes. Wish Jeanne had more action scenes though.

Interesting reveal about Shirou, did not expect there to be another Ruler class servant. I thought only one Ruler was summoned, wonder what the reasoning behind all this is.
