Trigger are westaboos but ultimately they're still aiming for success in Japan.
Japan didn't really care about FLCL, which is why the old rights holders weren't protective of it and greenlit infinite bad sequels animated by literal whos.

Why not have no studio animate it? Nobody asked for this shit, especially after Progressive and Alternative shit the bed. FLCL never needed a sequel to begin with.

Most of the big production IG guys seem to have turned freelancers and some gainax people work for khara now but trigger still seems to have absorbed the biggest amount of all big names that worked on the original series.

Even if Gainax did it now it'd be complete trash.

It wasn't Gainax that made it good.
It was Tsurumaki's team. And they're all currently in Studio Khara and worked on the Evangelion movies.

If any studio ever had the chance to make FLCL as good as the first one, it's Khara. But Gainax screwed over Khara in 2014 with the rights for FLCL and Top Wo Nerae! cause they thought they're slick, and then they hit a financial wall due to their incompetence and that led into them selling off properties to like Top Wo Nerae to Gaina (a different studio, not Gainax) and FLCL to Adult Swim and Production I.G.

As for Top Wo Nerae! - the director of the first one - Gunbuster... is literally the founder of Khara (Hideaki Anno) and the director of the second one - Diebuster, is again, FLCL's Tsurumaki.

Gainax is the reason why we're even getting these garbage sequels instead of quality new entries.

It’s not the lack of Gainax, it’s the lack of Tsurumaki.
Gainax are the ones who sold FLCL to Production IG instead of Tsurumaki because they were willing to pay more.
Anno did try to get the rights to FLCL for Tsurumaki, but Gainax took his money and gave him jack shit.
Progressive, Alternative and Grunge are all just results of Tsurumaki and Anno being screwed over.
There’s a reason all the best talents of Gainax left to start there own anime studios.

Their reputation as a studio was ruined by its own President who had a scandal that caused the company to be disbanded everyone who was a part of that Company left because they didn't want to be associated with the Company for its bad reputation.
