Both these animes have great music, lovable main characters that are infailable gunmen. Both of these animes have some of the best gun martial arts, and gun fights in Anime.

Trigun and Cowboy Bebop are both similar in the sense that they both have a western kind of feel to them, except one takes place in space and one takes place in an actual desert setting. Both animes have a very cool, laid back main character, but they are both different in their own rights, too, in that Trigun's main guy is very emotional and a pacifist with the insane luck and the main character of Cowboy Bebop is a bounty hunter, with amazing luck and skill, but they both have very horrible pasts and very different outlooks on life. Each episode of the anime revolves around a different bounty hunter story or a different story about helping people in a different town and every now and then they throw in some real parts about the storyline, hinting at both the past and the lives of the other characters, but it's mostly about the main character and their views on life, their pasts and they both have guns, insane main male characters and awesome fighting action scenes with a lot of humor sprinkled in. read more

Even from the first episode, the music and mood of Cowboy Bebop struck me as being similar to Trigun, and both are awesome anime that leave you satisfied and thinking.

There aren't many series which combine the Western and Sci-Fi genre in some manner, but these two are some of the first many think of when they think of series which fall into these two genre. Both series are action backed yet have their own humor ingrained into the series.

I can think of around 20 similarities between Cowboy and Trigun - general mood, main character, plot development ect. All you have to do is watch both to understand that.

They are both similar Anime, but the way they are presented is different. in my opinion trigun is better though, because of the mood of the story. the soundtrack is pretty good but not as good as cowboy bebops

Both main characters Spike (Cowboy Bebop) and Vash the Stampeed (Trigun) are outlaws of sorts. Both appearing to be  brash, selfish, and sometimes thoughtless as a mask hiding their inner hearts. Vash and Spike have also suffered great loss and are trying to make sense of it while dealing justice in their own way across the galaxies.

Both of these animes have their own aspect of hilariousness, though Trigun incorporates more humor than Cowboy Bebop. They're pretty similar in their coloring/art style and give off the same Sci-Fi Cowboy vibe.

Cowboy Bebop have similar art styles. The drawing gives each a similar feeling, however, while they may look alike, their characters have a bit of a different feel. Both main characers [Spike & Vash] have dark pasts that are slowly revealed throughout each series, but Vash's story is the center of the plot for Trigun. Trigun and Cowboy Bebop also each have humorous and serious elements to each episode. Again creating similar atmospheres for the viewer.

Both anime is a masterpiece of a genre. In both anime society is like in Wild West, but with advanced technology. Both main characters is skillful gunman. There is great action scenes and the comedy in these anime is outstanding. So if you liked Cowboy Bebop, you might like Trigun.

Both Anime have the same feel to the main characters who both have troubled and mysterious pasts. Combine this with good music and great actions scenes and you have two great shows.

I just started watching Trigun, but when watching the opening for episode 2 comboy bebop popped into my mind. The art style is IMO very alike and i thinks that's a good thing. So if you liked the more well how do i put this i think rough is the proper word for it, yeah rough art, in Trigun you wil love Comboy bebop. And Vice Versa. 

(plot is also kinda similar.)

Firstly, the overall mood of both anime is quite similar.
Both are space cowboy themed anime, though the 'space' bit is a lot more emphasized in Cowboy Bebop).
Both have protagonists who are haunted by their past.
Both have main antagonists who usually work from behind the scenes and aren't introduced until halfway through the series.
Also, both follow a mostly episodic pattern, with subplots that are introduced and resolved within one episode.

They both have this intriguing and enigmatic main characters (Vash the Stampede and Spike), When it comes to gunmanship they are second to none, they both have this one girl that has always been like a backbone so to say. They have this crazy crew members and there is something about their eyes too. All in all they are  both amazing!!!!

I think both Bebop and Trigun have the same feel with that sensational feel of comedy-drama especially as you dig deeper into these series. You see, I have a crush on Vash while at the moment, I am in love with Spike; so both of these series will have you developing a strong passion for each protagonist.

Despite that they're not really that similar in taste. For example: Vash is a whiny and soft-hearted dude while Spike is a bad-ass and cocky guy, you will both fall for them anyway since they have about the same persona of each guy with a mysterious past and are looking for the girl they once loved. read more

Two classic series, just classic.

Both of these series has great humor and action as well as an interesting main character. 

Additionally, there's that Western theme mixed in with light and dark elements. These two series effectively pull off the comedy and gives a well rounded definition of what it is. Of course, there's some bonus gunslinger action in both series.

Both series' main character also contains a dark past.
Both series contain that jazz-theme that is quite catchy.
Both series has drama.
Both series has similar animation style.
Both series has similar structure.
Both series contain sci-fi western elements

Both shows have a sci-fi theme in them. They also have a "Wild West" feeling, though this is more obvious in Trigun. Both shows involve bounty hunters: in Cowboy Bebop, the Spike himself is a bounty hunter, while in Trigun, Vash is HUNTED by bounty hunters.

Trigun and Cowboy Bebop are two very unique anime. They are of a similar art style, very westernised. They were both made in the same year as one another, (1998). Both anime share similar main characters, focusing on their personalities and their past and future. Set in western-like worlds with "cowboy/bounty hunter" themes these anime excel at developing their plots and characters through their endeavours.

Both of these are fast-paced, stylish action series. However, what really brings these two anime together is the emphasis on story compared to other generic action anime. Both of the main characters have a great backstory revealed as the story goes on, with very unique personalities.

Both are based around either being chased by bounty hunters or being bounty hunters.

Other than these being anime classics, they both have a style almost similar. They both Have fun characters, a very thought out story, and a humor all there own. But each character has a back story that is kinda dark. There very well rounded anime  stretching to different sides to anime. comedy, action, Drama, it has it all. Plus I can't recommend one of these without the other.

If you like that late 90's kind of anime, these are perfect for you! And the great main characters: Spike and Vash will definitely give you a thrilling ride through Cowboy Bebop and Trigun.
They also have that same "Old West" philosophy of bounty hunting and things like that.
Both are great, and if you liked one, you'll definitely like the other

If you want fast-paced, futuristic action, Trigun is the show for you. The story may be a little lacking compared to other animes, but it's still a great show, especially if you like a protagonist who shoots things up. Keep in mind that Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are both canon animes from the 90s. 9/10 for both series.

Both revolve around cowboys. Both MCs are extremely skilled with gun combat. Both MCs have a nice sense of humor. They're compared to each other all the time because of these similarities.

Both are 26 episodes. Both are sci fi western anime. Both have main characters who suffered a dark and tragic past. Both are considered anime classics. The difference is Cowboy Bebop is episodic, while Trigun has more of a linear story. The main character of Trigun is also a bit goofier than the main character of Cowboy Bebop. However, anyone should see the both of them before they die.

Cowboy Bebop is about is set is a futuristic setting and follows the crew of bouny hunters aboard the ship known as the Bebop as they take down criminals. Along the way they meet interesting individuals that will change the way the crew does things.

Trigun is also set in a futuristic setting on a distant planet that has also nearly enough been deserted. The story follow Vash the stampede a crimial so notorious that he has a $$60,000,000,000 bounty on his head. Throughout the story he is followed by two insurance girls, this adds depth to the story and to Vash himself.

Similarities 

- In both the main characters have tragic backstories which makes the anime even better.
- Both have Sci-fi elements
- Both MC's seem to get themsleves into trouble without trying

Differences

- Trigun has a more comedic aspect to it, still has plently of action none the less and doesn't make it any less enjoyable
- Trigun is set on a single planet were as Cowboy Bebop is set on different planets

Both animes are classic Sci-Fi, Road Trip, Adventure, Comedy... There are not supernatural powers in them, but you'll meet some enhanced people by scientific methods. Awesome action using guns and some sci-fi weapons. 
Plus "Wild West" atmosphere in both of them. 
Difference is that one is Space Opera while other is Post-Apocalyptic.

MC both uses guns. The story is both playful and serious. I find them really similar just by watching them. I can't really explain but the emotions I felt are similar.
The airing year are both 1998.

Both animes have a western, cowboy vibe to them. They both  have a big focus on using guns, which goes With the whole western setting. Though one is mainly on a ship in Space and the other one on a planet, there are  still a few resemblances since they are both in unfamiliar Places and not on Earth. 

The MC is both smart and funny, and they are both comical.

Trigun, just like Cowboy Bebop, features a lovable doofus of a hero who has a dark past hidden behind his back. Trigun is also heavily influenced by western culture and features a lovable cast of characters. Trigun is mostly episodic filler while also featuring an underlying plot about the main character's dark past. Both Trigun and Cowboy Bebop feature villains who shared the same past with the main character, and both of the main characters cannot escape said dark past until they have settled everything with said villain. There is a main heroine who starts off as arrogant, she dislikes the main character right from the spot, but then has a change of heart at the end of the series. There is also a badass side character who has to fight off his own demons as well. The only differences I can think of between Trigun and Cowboy Bebop, is that the endings are very different from each other, and Trigun explores one theme only (Pacifism) while Cowboy Bebop tackles many.  read more

Trigun is very similar to Cowboy Bebop because of the genre; the two animes have a unique genre known as "Space Western". Also, the two animes have incredible battles, unforgettable characters and a brilliant OST (especially Cowboy Bebop). This two series were made at the same time, too.

Both of these anime are space westerns that dip heavily into the western stylistic; they also came out at around the same time and are high quality and highly regarded shows. Both are mainly episodic but have overarching plots around the MC that gradually become more important as time goes on.

Both shows have MCs with a lot of similarities (eg: the mysterious, tragic past that slowly unfolds over the course of the show, or their impressive skills in combat/with a gun). I would argue Vash is the more nuanced of the two, whereas Cowboy Bebop develops the rest of its main cast a lot more than Trigun.

The general atmospheres of the show are also pretty similar and the villains and how they relate to the MC are also similar. read more

Trigun is an amazing anime that manages to be enjoyable today even with its older animation style. Like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun has a western-inspired setting and features a bad-ass, gun-slinging protagonist. The series is worth watching based on the action and humor alone but the art and story will have you wanting more.

If you enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, chances are you'll also enjoy Trigun because both share the atmosphere of a futuristic western, creating a strong sense of that setting. However, Trigun incorporates more comedy elements at certain moments, adding a unique flavor to its storytelling. Despite the differences, both anime offer a captivating blend of action, adventure, and a distinct futuristic western vibe.

Bebop & Trigun shares a deeper understanding of morals, human reactions and our true feelings. Great use of exciting and complex characters, which you most certainly will learn something valueable from.  The villian and main character may give you philosophical ideas of what an A.I. or a more intelligent being than humans think, act and behave when encountering the human race. Splitting the moral dilemma into the two brothers makes it a great story which will stay with you forever.

Although there stories might not be too similar but they both are spaghetti western and I mean a bounty hunter (Spike Spiegel) and an outlaw (Vash the Stampede) so that's great.
they are both amazing anime *cough cough* cowboy bebop has better music *cough cough* and both came out in 1998
they both have existential and moral conflicts and ideas and both are interesting.

Cowboy bebop is an awesome sci fi action series with spaghetti western influences. It follows a group of bounty hunters trying catch a break in life whilst running away from their pasts.
Trigun is an awesome spaghetti western action series with sci fi elements, following a man with a large bounty on his head trying to confront his past.

They're very similar yet opposite series. Like 2 sides of the same coin. I'd definitely recommend watching both if you have the chance.

Both have interesting MCs, even if Vash and Spike are radically different in personality. These series have in common that the music is a strong point in them, making it so atmospheric and inmersive. Both have a gang that goes for individual most of the times but in the end they are together for a greater reason.

I personally think Bebop is better but I love Trigun too and if you do like any of those, you have to see Trigun / Cowboy Bebop.

both anime follows a post-apocalyptic theme where the protagonist are pretty laid back and are a force in their own right,also they have a western feel to them and lastly they both have episodes which tend to be more episodic than to narrate a story throughoutly

Trigun is the less mainstream and popular Cowboy Bebop in my eyes.

Both are episodic anime with great music (Cowboy Bebop has jazz music with Trigun having rock music), and have a similar animation style. Both are just really similar in general. Just watch both please!

-Cowboy Bebop protagonist is a bounty hunter and Trigun protagonist is a man wirh a bounty on his head
-Both anime are episodic but the plot and the characters are well develloped during the anime
-All episodes on both Trigun and Cowboy Bebbop has a unique plot that makes the anime better
-Both anime going deep inside the past of the protagonist and both carry their past and thier suffer for a long time
-Both anime are in my top 5 and i highly recommend you to watch them both

Yep. Let's just get this one out of the way. This is easily the most compatible recommendation pair you can find in the world of anime. They're both really solid space western shows with strong male characters, one's a bounty hunter (Cowboy Bebop) and the other's got a bounty on his head (Trigun). They both travel the world and/or galaxy picking up new crewmates along the way and causing mayhem down the road. These two are totally different shows, but feel so similar that I was genuinely surprised they weren't written by the same writers.

Both have amazingly unique sci-fi worlds that feel like they truly haven't progressed. 
Both have a cast of unique and entertaining characters. Both have fight scenes that are very entertaining. 
Both are episodic with memorable adventures in each of them (Trigun becomes less episodic in the later episodes). Both were released in the same year and in the golden age of anime. 
Both are classics. 
Trigun is more comedic and it's art is not as fancy as Cowboy Bebop but it gives off a certain tone perfectly. It's less emotional but has a similar vibe. 
If you love cowboy bebop, you'll surely love Trigun.

They share a similar setting/genre being futuristic westerns in outer-space. They both have a high quality dub from the same studio so they are enjoyable in English. You can hop into almost any episode and enjoy it out of context they are both mostly episodic rather than serial until the ending.

another 1998 sci-fi anime... With a funny - extriemely strong - but mysterious main character. For some reason, I had similar vibes watching it. Also, there are in each one of them a main quatuor with 2boys and 2girls that is very interesting to follow.

Both involve bounty hunting. In cowboy bebop, its about the bounty hunters. In trigun, its about a guy with a bounty and his encounters with bounty hunters. Both shows also tell about the characters pasts.

Trigun is a classic Sci-fi, Action, Adventure, Comedy series with an amazing Western concept the same as Cowboy Bebop. Vash, the protagonist of "Trigun" , wanders from place to place, hiding his power levels under a goofy exterior. It's not really that much similar cuz Cowboy Bebop draws more heavily in sci-fi but still there are some of it that made them similar to each other like good Actions, Travelling to another another place or going on a journey. If you guys want to see these kinds of genres then this is definitely for you, should check it out it's the same episode as Cowboy Bebop. read more

Towards the last few episodes of Trigun I had thought that this might be a new 10/10. Not only was it a masterpiece, though but it left me completely awestruck and solidified itself as a top 5 of mine. Cowboy Bebop keeps that dystopian cyberpunk blend with western drama and adds on to it with a really cool bebop soundtrack (hence the name). Both gleaming with existential dread and unbearable plot twists but that's what keeps them alive after all these years.

If you've seen Cowboy Bebop but haven't seen Trigun you might be new to anime or you didn't have Adult Swim in your area  growing up. You'll find that Trigun is also a space western but you don't follow bounty hunters in this series, you instead follow the "bounty hunted". The series is a great entry anime since the western influence is quite heavy here as well, so much so the only Japanese used in the show is for one joke and the anime tropes aren't many (but you get the exaggerated chibi reaction faces so you have a chance to start absorbing some dank Japanese culture). There is both light hearted comedy and serious action here like Bebop but the story and world building is much more important to the plot this time around and so much so you'll have to rewatch to pick up on all the little things that go over your head the first time. Good pacing, the characters and setting are all unique and everyone's personality makes sense along with their choices and actions, men with big guns, stuff explodes, the story holds many themes and morals and gives you plenty to think about. From beginning to end you'll be satisfied. If you're a western viewer new to anime and you like action with a story that makes you think about things this is right up your alley (if you're a vet hurry up and watch it already jeez). read more

Well, Cowboy Bebop is my Favorite Anime of All Time I've ever seen before. Trigun and Cowboy Bebop are both Westerns, Both have Main Characters in this Series. If you enjoy Cowboy Bebop then you might like Trigun instead.

Trigun is similar in many ways to Cowboy Bebop, but it is different in that it takes the Western theme further, featuring the classic cowboy look. Cowboy Bebop fans who want another space western owe it to themselves to watch Trigun or its more recent reboot series Trigun Stampede.

Although one anime (Trigun) has a Wild West Cowboy feel, and another (Rurouni Kenshin) has Samurai, they both have a simalar story to tell. Both have a main character who dosen't kill no matter the situation, and both main charaters are skilled badasses. If you enjoyed Trigun then you'll probably enjoy Kenshin just the same, and vicea versa.

Here comes the "incapable hero", but there is absolutely no way that they're THAT hero, because they're from all appearances the bumbling fool - or so everyone thinks. While the genre is different, one being of the historical genre and the other being of the space opera genre, they're both action and humor packed with very colorful cast of characters that will likely make the viewer fall in love or laugh their heads off, possibly even both.

If you want to see a pacifist MC with a dark past be pushed far beyond his limit of patience, pushed into a corner, and forced to destroy his enemies in awesome fight scenes, look no further.

The main character in both animes seems like he is totally oblivious and clumsy, but he's really a major badass. That's about the only similarity, besides the fact that they both rock =)

Both protagonists have a dark past, are immensely skilled fighters, and are being hunted for some reason. Both also appear unthreatening and vulnerable until forced to defend themselves and other, are clumsy outside of combat, and serve as their own comic relief.

Both shows feature a highly-skilled warrior with a troubled past, wandering throughout the world on a mission of peace. Yet, despite their efforts, trouble follows them around, constantly challenging their main principle to not take a life.

Of course, this is all done in a hilarious manner, but while in Kenshin the last 20 or so episodes are just funny filler, Trigun turns more serious the closer it gets to the end.

While completely different in setting, Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun share a main character who is trying to escape a violent past through a life of pacifism. They are helped along the way by an often pugnacious female and a really cool second male lead. Trigun is thematically like Kenshin, but has action more akin to Cowboy Bebop.

Fans of the bad ass pacifist of Trigun, meet Kenshin, a sword swinging total kick ass sweetie pie who knows how to do laundry. If you loved Vash you'll love Kenshin.

 While playing in widely different settings, Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun both revolve around a protagonist who has sworn to never kill anyone after realizing their bloody actions. Both shows feature the journey of the character, while also having lots of action and a bit of comedy. The animation is also very similar.

both rurouni kenshin and trigun set in a old fashioned historical time period Rurouni Kenshin feudal Japan/Trigun old wild wild west  and both series star a dorky yet  friendly  warrior   who  has a dark past and are striving to reform..repentance....both vash and kenshin  have morals   so in both their cases when they fight the bad guys, they fight without killing and somehow manage to pull it off!...both rurouni kenshin and trigun came out in the late 90's.... and for those who like english dubs,  both rurouni kenshin and trigun share  most of the same voice cast (decent dub cast by the way if you're a critic)... both of these shows are very wholesome. packed with moral values...both kenshin and vash are way more humble than a lot of other shonen anime MCs ...so if you are going old school  want a clean wholesome shonen anime  that share the same voice dub cast and values       i'm sure you'd like both of these classics. read more

The true personality of both individuals surprise the other characters who only know of them by their reputation.

Both anime have the same post-apocalyptic desert setting. They also consist of a goofy, comedic, and nearly unbeatable main character. The only exception is Desert Punk doesn't have a immense background as Vash does. But other than that both anime are pretty much the same.

Both are set in a post apocalyptic desert setting with horny, gun wielding juggernauts as their protagonists that are constantly down on their luck. Though both share similar elements they both end up going in different directions. Trigun tries to preach pacifism and shows the difficulties that come with it while Sunabouzu supports selfish mercilessness and the type of person that that makes you.

Two characters are the same and they both have twin older brothers that despise each other. They even have blond hair and round glasses. Well, besides the physical similarities, both characters are very powerful and different from the average species. Both of the series contains comedy, suspense, action, and some blood. This series are a thrill to enjoy, especially with awesome characters, action, and humor.

Both protagonists have similar backgrounds. In fact, Abel (Trinity Blood's protagonist) and Vash (Trigun's protagonist) are so similar that the Anime/Manga Character Flaw Website's (http://amcflaws.awardspace.com/) flaw for Abel  is:

Both of the animes have fun loving, seemingly silly main characters who are in fact beings with powerful abilities. Also, both main characters have evil brothers that seek to destroy the world. The similarities really start to become apparent during the last 10 episodes of trinity blood. If you like Trinity blood, you'll probably like Trigun, but it doesn't necessarily work the other way around. Trigun is superior to Trinity blood imho.

Goofy main characters with haunted pasts that carry a great burden and don't really fit in with their world.  

To be honest, I'm tempted to say Trinity Blood is just Trigun with vampires, religion, and a darker tone (Trigun tends to be more whimsical and light hearted, using it's dark and serious moments much more sporadically and poignantly, making the contrasting moments pack a bit more punch in Trigun.)

The resemblance between the two shows kind of feels like Flame of Recca vs Yu Yu Hakusho, where the premise and content are so similar that you can't help but draw parallels (maybe even going so far as to wonder if one is a knock off of the other) and can't help but notice that, while you may enjoy both, one definitely pulls it off slightly better.

hmmm... well the plots are very different. but there are several things that remind me of eachother. both fight for good. both are always hungery and broke XD and they both have to deal with alot while helping others. well i cant say much because i have only just started trinity blood. but that shows how simular they are. if you have watched one  plz watch another. thanks :)

Many people say it TB is a ripoff of Trigun. It seems that way, but that doesn't make it a bad show by any stretch of the imagination.
If you're looking for more Trigun, Trinity Blood is for you. TB is a modern spin with vampires and politics, while Trigun is a classic western/sci-fi style show.

In both Trinity Blood and Trigun, the main protagonists are both creatures that grew up in a "facility" like setting off of the planet and in some form of transportation unit that does not need to return to earth or land to be replenished. They both have brothers that oppose their ideals and absolutely hate humanity. There is a head female figure that both protagonists looked up to, acting almost like a mother that would guide them and teach them about life. Vash and Abel, both, originally hated humanity for one reason or another. They realized their error in judgement and have repented their sins, using God's name, and have been doing what is right for the sake of humanity.  read more

I think both were developed by the same people and this would make sense because they are very similar in style to each other. Trigun is less gory and violent but still very good. Both have a great storyline, higly developed emotional characters, and action packed gun fights. I higly recomend if you enjoyed gungrave to check out trigun you will like it.

Both characters are excellent gunsmen and are portrayed as such throughout their animes, both in their former life. Grave is more on a revenge trip than Vash though and definitely won't hesitate to kill... most of the time. I think Gungrave is a little darker then Trigun but give it a try if you enjoyed Trigun.

While Trigun is filled with comedy and action, anyone with a brain can see the serious undertone of the series, especially in the second half. Gungrave lacks the comedy that was found in Trigun, but the emotional ride is just as good, if not better. Not to mention, the final episode of Gungrave is quite possibly one of the best endings of an anime I have ever seen.

 Gungrave is Yasuhiro Nightows most underrated work ( Though he was only the character designer for both the games and anime) Genuinely interesting series with a lot of good characters and a good mix of grounded drama and more fantastical elements, all things that made Trigun interesting. Gungrave is set in a more modern and realistic setting, but has a lot of crazy things going on. The only other major difference to take note of is the lack of comedy in Gungrave compared to Trigun. Also, despite being based on a game, it doesn't expect you to have played it to watch the show, and it is pretty good (most anime based on games i've seen are pretty meh, with the exception of Tales of Zestiria, Sengoku Basara and Gungrave) read more

The protagonist Brandon Heat is very similar to Vash the Stampede, a character with a senseless name, with huge guns that puts himself in improbable poses in the midst of intense gunfights; both characters seem initially simplistic, but acquire depth when (as the plot advances) they'll be tormented by their past.

Vash (main character of Trigun) and Van (main character of Gun X Sword) remind me of each other, although not all of their characteristics match. Both main characters are kind of laid back but still hardcore fighters.
Even though Gun X Sword is a mecha-styled show and Trigun isn't, I think if you were to watch the two you could probably make little lines between the shared qualities like the land and towns in both.

The main characters share many characteristics, that include having abilities that aren't human, being chased by events from the past, being (or at least trying to be) loners, being kind and generous, having unusual weapons and they both are funny in their own ways.
The two animes take place in a post apocalptyc enviroment, and the current civilization is like the western type filled with the blessings of the long forgotten technologies.

The main characters are very similar in beliefs, mannerisms, food obsessions, and "hey look at me I'm harmless JUST KIDDING HERE'S MY AWESOME WEAPON!"ness. Even the planets are similar. Both shows have that sort of "Mad Max", post-apocalyptic-planet feel to it. Both shows have their main character bent on revenge, but while Vash is a pacifist, Van just doesn't give a damn, yet the two are also absolute badasses, with Vash being an Android and Van having a humongous mech that falls from space. They have seemingly-inept companions accompany them on their merry quest, go on adventures, visit weird towns, need to take up jobs for some money, and the like.

Both of these shows are space westerns with quirky main characters who are helped along on their journeys by a girl or girls. Additionally, the characters' growing connections with other characters help them on their journeys. There are also plenty of amusing moments in both shows. Vash the Stampede and Casshern both have incredible powers, are thus victorious in many battles and seem to be invincible. While there's a large bounty on Vash's head, the inhabitants of Casshern's world believe that killing Casshern would bring them eternal life, so they are both hunted and attacked wherever they go.

Both deal heavily with the moral weight of wrong actions and the psychologies of the characters who bear the guilt of these actions.  The main characters are similar in that, although both of them have sinned grievously, they both desire to atone for their sin and place a great deal of importance on protecting others whom they care about. Both anime made from manga by the same mangaka, Yasuhiro Nightow. They have very different plots and settings, but similarities in themes of self-sacrifice and strong western influences. Both anime have an episodic feel to them until the last few episodes where the plot kicks off to a conclusion. Both also have a slapstick style of humor interspersed with unexpectedly tragic plots, and pretty wild action sequences. Oh, and did I mention that they both feature twins? If you've already seen Trigun and are considering watching kekkai-sensen, keep an eye out of a kuroneko-sama cameo!

Kekkai Sensen and Trigun are shows from the same author, Yasuhiro Nightow, but there's more to that connection. The main  character's stance on violence is reminsicent of Vash's, but the whole way the show handles it's blend of action, comedy and drama feels very simillar, the transition is fluid and the moods are not really meshed unappropriately. If you're enjoying one of these shows, there's very high chance you'll like the other as well.

Nightows typical intense and fascinating storytelling that we experienced in Trigun, but in a battle shounen setting, which allows him to up the comedy and silliness in ways he didn't in Trigun, but it still feels very typical to his style. The supernatural elements and superpowers are also scaled up from the previous two series (those series being Trigun and Gungrave). This series is still distinct enough to stand on its own, but also recognizable to fans of Nightows work due to the artstyle (he did character design for the Gungrave franchise), writing (in the case of Trigun), and overall vibe surrounding the series.

Both shows have a single lead character(Trigun = Male, Genadier = Female) who ,while supremely skilled, is not totally invincible. The worlds also are in a similar state with interesting variations such mountain pass where the wind is so strong it keeps dead bodies flying around in a perpetual swirl. Also in both shows interesting and powerful boss characters show up to channelge the hero and their unlikely allies with both placing a small but focused dedication towards comedy. A++

I think Trigun is way better then Grenadier. But, here's how I find both animes similar to each other. Rushana is the female version of Vash the Stampede and the story is almost the same. But both of them are different in some ways.

Grenadier is more or less "If Vash were a woman..."(or Trigun is "If Rushuna were a man...").  Basically both series are about peaceful protagonists on the journey, who avoid violence, fight only when they must and try not to kill their opponents. Also fights are similar in both series (revolvers, canons, pistols, dudes with robotic armor, main characters' extraordinary bullet evading skills). The main difference between the series is that Grenadier is more light-hearted, while Trigun has a touch of drama. Also Grenadier has an element of ecchi absent in Trigun.

Trgun is yet another series I suspect influenced the original source material for Canon Busters, yet is probably less likely than Cowboy Beepop and Samurai Champloo. A lot of the same humor courses through the series, yet don't let the fantasy genre deceive as there is a sci-fi element built in. In fact, there is a definite old versus new ways going on and lost technologies in both series.

Both these shows start out in a scifi desert/wildwest setting.  They start out with similar wacky outlandish episodic episodes.  Vash and Philly the kid are both immortals with bounties on their heads traveling from town to town unable to avoid trouble.  They are also trailed by two female/(female-voiced robot) companions whom they initially view as pain but later regard more as friends.

Both series is set in a wild west spaghetti setting with little to no rule of law, the protagonist is an travelling outlaw with a bounty on their heads who reluctantly allows two female companions to travel with him and from time to time a badass gunslinger/samurai pops up to aid them on their journey.

If you liked Trigun you will definitely like Cannon Busters.
Yes, it's not very similar, but still, the western feeling was brought over good in both of them and both anime have very very likable characters, i dont watched cannon busters to the end yet, but still, you should enjoy it if you are a fan of trigun

Looks into more ideas about the recreation of the world, though this one is preapocalypse. Also contains a lot of serious storyline and only inserts comedy into each episode where it fits, never has a whole episode of silly. I felt trigun did this as well. It's also about some mysterious characters that do unexpected things for the personality you think they have.

This action comedy has some similar characters. Although instead of a steampunk western this is a historical samurai series.

Expect the same kind of humor and epic plots. This is the only anime i can think of that even holds a candle to the epic masterpiece that was trigun. Same great production quality and similarly deep plots with a little less humor.

Both series revolve around a surprisingly nice living natural disaster, both of whom have enormous bounties on their heads, and take a pacifist approach despite how easily they could kill anyone and everyone who stands in their way.

Both characters caused widespread disaster in their backstory for reasons that are kept hidden. Their motivation revolves around a woman in their backstory whose significance is kept vague.

They also have a brother with similar abilities, who they are enemies with.

Their setting is entirely different since Trigun is westernized and is set on a fictional planet based on American Old West, whilst Monster is set in Europe with real life locations.

 What these two anime have in common, is the apex of psychological drama, both of these masterpieces reach (sooner or later) as the story progresses. Several characters from Trigun are very similar to those in Monster. Nicholas D. Wolfwood and Wolfgang Grimmer first come to my mind. Then Legato and Johan, although Legato isn't the main villain. Nina and Meryl (well, kind of) .Both series feature the twin brother as the main antagonist. Both series deal with the themes of superiority. Overall, I think Monster is a better anime but I love both.  read more

Yugioh GX and Trigun starts off with a light hearted and comedic fashion until at some point it gets serious and dreadful which almost makes you want to lose hope. I find Judai and Vash similar where they are very protective but at the same time must face harsh consequences to overcome their obstacles.

Mob Psycho 100 addpermalink

Trigun and Mob Psycho both engage with deep philosophical questions relating to violence, nonviolence, and the value of human life. The protagonists are also similar in that they both have immense power, and engage with the responsibility that comes with it.

Mob Psycho is, however, much more lighthearted and comedic than Trigun, and takes a more optimistic tone overall.

(e.g.: storyline 
[DMC is just a little slice of Dantes life, there isn't much is known about his past, 
Trigun is a full story, including his past, reasons, etc.]),
but the protagonists shows resemblance to each other.

Dante and Vash have several similarities, including but not limited to:
-like the lone wolf role, but both have fellows
-long red coat
-marksmanship skills
-custom handgun(s)
-personal sense of justice that prevents them from killing humans
-non-human aura with a human appearance
-an evil, identical twin brother

(ps.:  Interestingly Vash english voice actor is Johnny Yong Bosch who did Nero's voice in the game, DevilMayCry4.)

Both are sci-fi comedic anime, but most importantly the lead characters are very similar. Both Leads are outwardly dullards, foolish, and they both make rash seemingly insane decisions/actions. However, both characters actions have a deeper meaning and they are proven to be capable due their hidden talent, or genius. Despite this however both leads are given little respect and even less credit for their successes by their peers. Most importantly both these anime do an excellent job of comic relief.

Both happen in desert. Both have main characters who are unbeatable and their enemies know it. Both characters are also the opposite kinds of moral extremists; Vash doesn't kill anyone and Kenshiro kills everyone who has harmed someone.

While at initial glance neither series seem similar - one having a rather fluffy tone and the other having a dark, Gothic tone, there is the fact both series end up drawing the viewer in with the characters and the mystery, not to mention they start off with a very episodic format and yet end up building up to a major ending which may or may not be unexpected.

Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach is trying to save the world from evil spirits called Hollows. Vash the Stampede from Trigun is trying to save himself from the brink of INSANITY!

Basara and Vash are quite similar as they both hate to fight and their appearance with glasses look similar. Basara using his music and Vash use his humour or "stupidity" with their evading skills when they battle and their purpose is same I guess. The main girls in both animes are also making troubles for the main character but they are helpful too.

Even if the settings and the plot are diffrence I think you will like them both but you have to like the music in Macross 7.

More specifically, both series tackle a particular brand of humor which is easy to implement but difficult to get right. Many other series have tried to replicate the humor found in Trigan only to fail, but Hetaila is quite sucessful.

I'll be writing this recommendation based on the underlying themes that these shows both represent.

Both explore the concept of learning and experiencing the plight of humanity and the lives of the people in various difficult circumstances the world has to offer. Human connections get tested and the weight of life and death echoes deeply for the main characters throughout their travels. They both also explore the nature of humanity in the cathartic journey to find their subjective form of "paradise" and freedom. 

In their journey through life, they will suffer; yet they continue to live, carrying the will of their predecessors that have taught them the value of living as well as carrying their hopes; Whilst facing many dangers, they will be hunted by enemies that wish for the destruction of humanity and will struggle to protect everyone they love. Fushi and Vash will have to face many tribulations such as Death, Survivor's remorse, Morality and Inner Turmoil in finding the way to save everyone; despite the possibility of them unintentionally causing collateral death of those around them; which in turn, must force themselves to live an everlasting non-sedentary journey. 

Both musical scores masterfully adds emphasis into significant moments in the stories; allowing them to truly shine and create emotional impact to the point of spiritual catharsism. 

There is also a correlation that both the protagonists are otherworldly organisms(...?) that transcends normal humanity.

How are these two series similar? Mostly the similarity is a feeling regarding the tone of both series one really can't put into words. Both involve characters with mysterious pasts that unfold as the series progresses, but the chances of the viewer watching either series and falling in love with the characters is high. Neither series holds back on torturing the characters.

Trigun gave me some occasional Jojo vibes with it's villains. They are very over the top to the ridiculous degree. One villain has a flame thrower lighter with which he lights his "cigarette", which is basically just one of those fireworks sparkler sticks for kids, if that doesn't tell you that this show has "rule of cool" elements idk what to tell you. Very ridiculous, but very fun and cool in the same dweeby way that jojos is fun and cool. Most similar to part 3 in particular because trigun is mostly a villain of the week show were they're constantly moving from location to location in a desert like environment. read more

both are set on a post apocaliptic wolrd where basically everything is just dust and deserts..only difference is that in trigun they live on that enviroment in middle west type towns, and in chrome they made special cities inside domes so they could live.

there is romance in both of the series.

Both series have a protagonist that have a completely different attitude from the rest of the characters and don't really fit with the setting. Like Saitama, Vash the Stampede is an enigma who is extremely skilled compared the vast majority of fighters (not super OP like Saitama though), but is almost misunderstood by everyone. If you like Saitama, you will almost definitely like the way Vash fits in with his respective universe as well.

The style of the visual directing and the soundtrack in both shows seems fairly similar, which gives the serious moments in both shows a fairly similar atmosphere. However, Trigun focuses more on comedic moments early on while Escaflowne is more consistently serious.
However, both shows share similar design sensibilities for the characters, and the villains are written pretty similarly. The sci-fi elements also share similar designs, having a fairly organic and pulsating feel to them in both shows. The story and setting are different in each show, but they're similar in that they incorporate sci-fi elements into a setting which is typically devoid of sci-fi.

they both are adventure anime,when the main char,Vash from Trigun & Jing from King of Bandit Jing,travels from town to town,in order to find something,and help to a lot of people in the way,while their journey,they encounter a lot of enemies that know that there is some great King of Bandits like Jing & Vash the Stampede,and they dont belive they facing the real ones,both are comedy,adventure anime, similar to each other,if u liked one of them,I almost sure u will like the another.

On the first note you migt say what berserk? It is nothing like Trigun. But I say, yes it is. In both Series we have a male main character, both alone in the world, very closed not showing much of themselves to the outside world. Vash hunts his evil brother, and Guts kills for Griffith who he would give his life for, but later on, their relationshipturns bad. What happens to Guts and Griffiths relation is the same that happens to Knives and Vash's relation.

Hunter x Hunter (2011) addpermalink

There are no such absolutely unrivalled and invincible heroes in Hunter x Hunter as we see in Trigun, but the show still bears some striking similarities in both style and mood. The main hero, Gon Freecks, looks exactly like chibi Vash except for his dark green hair, and there are some other character designs being borrowed as well (e.g., Genei Ryodan's Franklin).
In general, HxH has a strong character development theme that Trigun lacks, but otherwise it explores and advocates the same kind of moral ideals.

Vash and Kiritsugu have horrible pasts which led to to a perilous battle to fight to save the world. Trigun has comedy and seriousness whereas Fate Zero is pure seriousness. Not to mention both have major deaths tolling along making the story even darker than ever. Both have guns as well.

While Now and Then, Here and There is much, much heavier than Trigun, both series feature an idealistic protagonist who believes that all lives are equal and that killing is always wrong. Unfortunately, in both series, their philosophy doesn't do them much good in the cruel desert world in which they live.

With these two anime they are two of the best I find for relaxing and having a laugh and both and have great fighting in them and a good mix of funny times in them. I have re watched both of them a few times as they are always a great one for me to go back to and would suggest anyone that love the relax funny type of anime like trigun to give it a go

Both are supernatural western anime with a great sense of humor, following wandering main characters with bounties on their heads. On the way, the main characters both get into trouble with people of the law and make friends with them. 

Aside from being male, Vash can be seen as a combination of Nadie and Ellis- like the former, he's a master marksman who prefers to disarm his enemies instead of killing them, and like the latter, he's a mysterious blonde-haired person with strange powers that he can't control. He's more developed than both of them, however, and his story is a lot deeper and more interesting.

Basically, if you like "El Cazador de la Bruja", you will definitely like "Trigun". read more

Both are extremely funny and are better viewed through Dubbed version, with awesome voice actors that make it that much more entertaining. 

Both have mid western themes with similar art work.

Main characters for both series are good nature and would help any helpless person in need.

The two series have great Comedy, Adventure, Si-Fi, and action elements.

Both Trigun and Fruits Basket begin with much humor and get more dramatic as they go along. The hero in Trigun, Vash, is much more goofy than Yuki or Kyo, but was also cursed from birth except he was cursed with "what" he is. You'll understand that if you watch the show. If you like humor, action, drama, meaningful... and did I mention humorous animes, you will love both Trigun and Fruits Basket.

They both have super sick main characters. Vash and Hei both have sibling problems. Hei and Vash both have multiple personalities. They both contain a lot of action. Trigun is definately funnier.

First, we see the "Trigun" Vachs guy with an interesting character, it all began very funny, but then in the middle, telling why he has such strength and such a "price", etc.
I guarantee involute plot and interest in this product!

Many compare it to Pokemon - this is nonsense, not listen to them, actually anime based on who the Zed where he got such power and who is Amil Gaul, yet become clear that his mother was crazy hospital, etc. ...
These anime are very interesting, after watching identified many secrets and is actually jealous of imagination and ideas of the authors of the product ^ _ ^

Многие сравнивают его с Покемонами - это бред, не слушайте их, собственно аниме строиться о том, кто такой Зед,откуда у него такая сила и кто такой Амиль Гаул, ещё выясняться что его мать попала в псих больницу и т.д. ...

Famous Protagonists with particular personalities with bounties on their heads. Featuring Guns, Awesome Storyline and a lot more. Cobra's Storyline is much darker in sense of more violence, Naked women but in terms of an good action and storyline they're both good.

The animation on Blassreiter leaves a little to be desired, but the stories are similar. The lone hero fights against the injustice of their own kind to save humans.  In both cases the hero's story is where it all began.

Both explore the concept of learning and experiencing the plight of humanity and the lives of the people in various difficult circumstances that the world has to offer. Human connections get tested and the weight of life and death echoes deeply for the main characters throughout their travels. 

In their journey through life, they will suffer; yet they continue to live, carrying the will of their predecessors that have taught them the value of living as well as carrying their hopes; Whilst facing many dangers, they will be hunted by enemies that wish for the destruction of humanity and will struggle to protect everyone they love. 

Fushi and Vash will have to face many tribulations such as Death, Survivor's remorse, Morality and Inner Turmoil in finding the way to save everyone; despite the possibility of them unintentionally causing collateral death to those around them; which in turn, must force themselves to live an everlasting non-sedentary journey.

Frieren & Vash are transcendent beings that have lived longer than the rest of humanity, and they retrace the lands that they have been before; in order to keep the memories and values alive from the people whom they considered important in their lives and have made significant impacts to the world in the distant past. 

They revisit places they have saved or travelled in the past to rectify any issues they may have; (travelling along with companions & learning about each other.)  Both of these anime are made by Madhouse Studios.

The main protagonist and antagonist are connected by the past. The interaction between the two are similar in both series. The fate of humans is up for debate. 

The main plot lines are kind of similar, and the stories fill out as a tragic history is slowly revealed.

The main characters in D.Gray-man and Trigun are very reminiscent of each other. They both strive to create peace and harmony wherever they go, knowing that they inevitably bring destruction with them. Their pain becomes a source of strength in tight circumstances, however.

At first , it appears that neither series really has anything in common. But as Solty Rei progress into the 2nd half certain traits of Solty's almost mirror those of Vash , themes that I'd go into but that would be spoiling somethings if you've only seen one series or the other.

They both have good plots and decent endings, the main characters also have something in common in that they both have a painful/sad past. There is quite a difference between the shows at the start (Trigun having comedy) but as they progress you should notice the similarities. All in all, these are some decent show's which shouldn't be over-looked in the slightest.

These anime are very different.
Especially, the first 16 episodes of Trigun. Those are mainly focused on action and comedy.
However, I think that from episode 17, Trigun shares a common theme with Haibane Renmei.

Being stuck in a monotone world, not knowing one's purpose. With no certainties. Somehow trying to do what's right. Being subjected to phenomenon beyond the comprehension of an individual. Struggling to accept one's fate.
Wishing to lead a simple life, somewhere far away, in the face of cruel reality.

Other than that, I find the graphics similar - both pale.
If you're looking for something featuring existential angst, this could be it.

Both these have characters who suffer from being outcast of the human civilization because of the danger they risk. Both main characters are kind and have no trouble make friends. They both feature allot of betrayal making them allot alike.

I guess I'll reiterate my recommendation from the original;

Both revolve around traveling, gunslinging and touches into philosophical stories about the human condition. In a world that can be cruel, and yet beautiful at the same time, both shows do a great job at portraying this concept. Where henceforth; "The world is beautiful because of the people you meet along the way. They are what shape the world that we live in".

Both animes involve a lot of really amazing shooting/gunwork, and have main characters that have almost split personalities; a really tough, cool side, and a goofy or unexpected side. Also, both Vash and Jo have pasts that are unusual/mysterious for a lot of the series, and those pasts platy integral roles in how each series develops.

Both have a similar post-apocalyptic world. The main character in both is always chased by his own past where he is the key to save the world or to destroy it. Both have massive destruction scenes annihilating entire cities. A difference between the two is that Trigun is not in the mecha genre.

Both have guns and awsome protagonists. What's not to like, alto Pumpkin Scissors does need a continuation(Season 2) which is unlikely to happen in the near future.

The similarity between these two animes is weapons, bounties, and bounty hunters.  Though main character Vash in Trigun is the bounty while other bounty hunters are after him.  In Hyper Police the main characters are bounty hunters who going after demons.  There is good action in both and comedy.

Both are Science Fiction anime mixing futuristic tech as well as showing desert-like wasteland environments, and focus on the moral dissonance between optimism and cynicism, angels and devils, pacifism and practicality. In this respect Nezumi/Rat and Wolfwood both act as the cynical ones, who have disdain for Shion and Vash's optimism and pacifism, but are ultimately converted. They have very different stories, but both portray a lot of the same themes of peace and compassion for human life, the value of relationships between people, and humanity's capacity for both great good and great evil.

Sacrifice one life to ensure the safety of the rest, or try to save them all, even though survival isn't guaranteed? Both of these stories have complex themes about morality, justice and humanity: it's kindnesses and it's demons. Both have an inhuman protagonist that can change form and a human partner and foil who learns from them. Both also take place in a science fiction setting.

Lina Inverse and Vash the Stampede are both notorious for leaving a path of destruction in their wake as a result of fights. Though in Vash's case it's more of an unintended collateral damage thing that results even when he's pacifistic in his attempts, whereas Lina just goes all out in some of her fights. 

Add in the delightful fights and humor and ensemble casts and you got a lot to enjoy. Slayers Next is the second season of Slayers, but you don't need to have seen the first season in order to enjoy the second. It'll just make more sense if you watch S1 first. read more

Well, If I tell why they're similar, I'd be spoiling the whole story but it basicly the same kind of science fiction. Both stories are about the future life of humans (I can't say anymore unless I spoil the storys. Sorry.)

They both include characters oblivious of their supernatural powers and are given a goal to master them. They're different but quite similar... first they start off as funny and silly cartoons with a pretty twisty plot and then turn into serious and touching anime. Despite the fact that Trigun is more aimed at teens and Gakuen Alice is for children, but they both share quite similar aspects in plots and character development too. The main characters are indeed crybabies, klutzy and also cowardly with mysterious and determined friends by their sides.
