Both Miyazaki...both great storylines. Each has great elements of fantasy and action,.. and to finish.. each has an amazing OST by none other than Joe Hisaishi.

Both of them have incredibly imaginative fantasy settings. Both have stunning visual presentation and incredible landscapes and backgrounds. Both of them have a vast amount of fantastical creatures (animals, bugs, plants, etc.) Both of them have main characters that undergo a lot of development on their adventure and deal with a lot of hardships on their journey.

They have nicely similar story lines... "man devastates the earth and the forest comes back with a vengeance." They both have good dramatic action. I personally liked Nausicaa more but the main character in that was a girl so i relate better with her than the male main character in Agito. Still Agito was a great movie with better art and graphics than the older Nausicaa. It was definitely one of the better movies i have seen lately. So if you enjoyed either of these movies, be sure to check out the other.

Both have girls who care for animals which are misunderstood and often violent.

Both by Hayao Miyazaki, but these two have keepers of peace that fight against darkness. Just beautiful...

made by the same guy Hayao Miyazaki. He makes great anime movies that will leave you wanting more, I can't say that I didn't enjoy watching all of the movies that were made by him. His movies are very creative and original, if you've seen one, you should check out some of his others, they are all just as good. His movies are so great that I even re watched some of them a few times. anyways if you're interested in one of his movies, you're almost guaranteed to like the others. see for yourself.

The first five minutes of the very first episode of Xam'd gave me an overwhelming Nausicaa vibe, and the feeling really hasn't diminished with successive episodes. I guess the most obvious similarity is that both feature a heroine who flies a single-person light aircraft and grows things in jars and is tough yet deeply compassionate, to the point of defending or weeping over creatures others would think of as monsters. Also, there's lots of airships and goopy stuff and morally complex war stuff and a cute animal. Basically, if you like Nausicaa, be sure to check out Xam'd. If you like Xam'd  read more

Both are centered around a young girl who seems on a higher level than the people around her, peace-loving but an adept fighter. They also both take place in a grim future where mankind's abuse of the environment has created a toxic, jungle-infested planet that is difficult to survive in.

They are both set in a lands that seem inhospitable at first, but eventually we learn that they their are refuges within them. The vibe of the movie is quite the same. Shu's resolve matches Nausicaa's in that Shu wants to help Lala ru stay safe while Nausicaa looks out for her village and people in general.

A clear inspiration from Nausicaa's worldbuilding by Hayao Miyazaki. Civilization is lost as we used to know and only a few populations are remaining. Nature has recover its hegemony in the planet and extends freely. Humanity's resources are running out and life is arduous. A legend about a promised savior. A big Empire tries to dominate lesser kingdoms for its own benefit. Even the outfits are quite similar.

Similar main character and her traits. Similar if not same themes and story. (futuristic, war, savetheworld, environmental) Aoi Umi no Elfie seemed to me and feeled like ''Underwater'' Nausicaa.

they have strong strange princesses in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere. both nausicaa and Arete feel for creatures that are scorned be man. the big diffrence is one is fantasy and the other scifi. Post-apocalyptic fantasy?
report Recommended by born2badored
Post-apocalyptic anime where earth has turned into a wasteland after being ravaged by giant man-made beings. The world is now populated by large monsters and strange plants. The main character is experienced in surviving the new world.

Both are post-apocaliptic worlds with big bugs to fight ^^. The idea its diferent in both but the worlds are similar

While watching Children of the Whales, I really thought it felt similar to Nausicaa of the wind! Both anime are about a group of people who live peaceful lives in a “paradise” of sorts, where the world surrounding them is largely uninhabitable. However, their lives change when they come into contact with the outside world, including a more industrial country and battles.

Both worlds taken over by nature

They both have similar themes of strange life forms that are misunderstood. Both Nausicaa and Mushishi are very intriguing, and nature as well as human coexistence with nature are central themes in both anime. I can highly recommend Mushishi to any fan of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind!

Both movies are about someone trying to protect something or someone! Both are full of bright colours and both have very enjoyable stories!

Both of them have incredibly beautiful nature filled settings. Both have brilliant visual presentation and incredible landscapes and backgrounds, with stunning greenery. Both have themes of humanity going against the forces of nature.

One of the main things that these two anime share, is very unique set designs. Both Nausicaa and Iria: Zeiram, feature some of the most unique set designs ever featured in anime. Many anime feature run of the mill buildings, or worlds that seem very similar to our own, but the toxic forest in Nausicaa and just the general world entirely in Iria, are very interesting visually. If you like anime with very unique set designs and world designs you will probably like both of these. They also share a main character of a girl who in many respects are similar in their feel. They both have the living in the sky factor however drifting dragons (kuutei dragons) is about the hunting of dragons and making use of the entire dragon, while Nausicaä is about living in harmony with life. While watching drifting dragons a lot of it felt inspired by Nausicaä. Like the sky pirates outfits, this one old man in the big city, how the air ships are shaped. Either way I love both. I highly recomend you try one if you've seen the other.

These classical stories revolve around the corruption of mankind and see how polluted earth is due to endless wars, destruction, and negative human aspects created by the legends of their era (Hayao Miyazaki & Yoshiyuki Tomino).
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
During the time of their eras, these films revolve around the pollution of Earth and the corruption of humanity that explores more into the nature and the very personalities of the civilization that drove them into such state. One can say that Hayao Miyazaki and Yoshiyuki Tomino were at their peak at that time (Miyazaki writing more of Ghibli movies and Tomino as the helm of HF back when it was a LN alongside directing other Gundam series during the period). If you like one, then no doubt you will enjoy the other if you like the themes of nature, earth pollution, corruption of humanity, etc.

At the first sight these two don´t seems alike, but both have a cyberpunk world, with bio pollution. Have a lots of actions scenes and a great pyschological and plot development.

Both Landlock and Nausicaa are post apocolyptic sci-fi/fantasy and have similar themes such as war. both anime also have a teenage female main character(s).

- Protagonist was born in a village/ small place - Similar story - Some people are oppressed by others - Amazing places - Giants monsters manipulated by humans - Use of science - Nausica is more poetic, but have action and an amazing leader, Shingeki have more violence and they try to survive radically - They want a peacefully world
report Recommended by Biarogs
Epoch anime, fantasy, adventure - Protagonists who are leaders of other people - They always seek to protect others, even if it puts you in danger - Are extremely kind to their people, allies, animals, and even enemies. - And, they are hardworking and fair

Both of them are dystopian fantasies with evil monsters patrolling the lands

the post-apocalyptic world of nausicaa and the fantasy world of byston well in dunbine have a very similar feel to them in my opinion, and the efficiency with which these anime build their worlds is impressive in both cases. additionally, the mechanical and creature designs of the two would likely appeal to similar audiences. in fact, because the nausicaa manga had already begun its serialization by the time dunbine aired, it's not unreasonable to suggest that dunbine director yoshiyuki tomino and nausicaa creator hayao miyazaki may have been vaguely inspired by each other's work at the time.

- Mystic - Tragic - Human Greed - Adventure - Nature scenary - Beautiful animation and scenery - Strong protagonist - A medieval or something like that scenery - Peaceful people are oppressed by peoples of the expanded kingdom - They had a pacific life before these people came - Ugliness of the human soul
report Recommended by Biarogs
The short anime as well as the active imaginations of the characters in Eizouken are very reminiscent of Studio Ghibli films, especially Nausicaa. The desert-esque city settings with old fashioned weaponry are present in both in one way or another. They both also have female leads.
report Recommended by Eziprez
- Are directed by their original mangaka - Only focuses on the first two volumes of their manga - The plot is vastly different from those two volumes for the purpose of condensing the story. - They are just not as good as thier original manga even with the mangaka as director. - Both are post-apocaliptic action stories with god-tier animation and cinematography, I guess

Both are from Hayao Miyazaki. Both are set in post apocalyptic world. Both have the same theme of protecting the environment. Mirai Shounen Conan is a series of 26 episodes. So that is a bonus!

This show definitely gives me a Miyazaki vibe with the world/scenery and unique creatures that inhabit it.

What struck me quite early on when it comes to Flip Flappers was the underlying eerie feeling whenever the main characters would go on their seemingly happy exploration adventures. It was an eerie feeling I had felt before; while watching the exploration adventures of Nausicaä. I... it's hard to put words on it, but, at least to me, Flip Flappers and Nausicaä give you the same kind of eerie futuristic feeling, a feeling of the main characters bringing a shred of light to the otherwise contaminated and dark world? Although Flip Flappers might take a different turn as the series progress, I'd still really recommend  read more

The environmental question is in focus in both animes. Note 9 to and Ozma and 10 for the epic Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. /o

Both series have two female main characters that happen to be of royal blood on opposing sides of a brewing war, and both anime begin with the invasion/destruction of the main character's homeland.

Nausicca has a similar environmentalism themes, but much, much less heavy handed than Pom Poko. Done by the same studio as well.

These classic movies are perfect for a family setting, with thrilling and imaginative backgrounds, enabling the viewer to be in tuned with an exciting sense of heroism, self belonging, and relation.

Both about independent girls who love nature ... save their families from danger ... and studio ghibli productions ^_^ ... great animation!

Plant life is trying to take over the earth and there is only on person, a young teen age girl, that can stop it. Take my word for it, if you liked Warriors of the Wind, you'll definitely love Blue Seed.

I think the main plot is very similar. And I also got the same feeling from the music, which sets a beautiful atmosphere in both movies. If you liked Escaflowne, you might well enjoy Nausicaa even better. I sure did!

the art style and feel are the same, if you like one you will like the other

Both have a world that is struggling to survive after a catastrophic war. Past technology is pursued and preserved by the goverments to wage even more war. History has been mixed with myths. Still some believe in the good in people and not in violence.
report Recommended by isokana
Both are stories about the difficulties of humans and nature/wild animals coexisting. Nausicaa is well known for focusing on the effects of pollution, while Tottoi is a simple story about a boy who discovers and later tries to protect a mother and baby seal in a place where those seals were believed to be extinct.

How can you not see the similarities between Nausicca and Symbiotic Planet? Both planets are surrounded by an atmosphere that is dangerous (Nausicca) or potentially dangerous (TO) to humans. The planets are both inhabited by strange creatures and societies that are at war with one another. In Nausicca its the Valley of the Wind against Torumekia and in TO its the American colonies against the European colonies. Where Miyazaki's world is set far into the future on Earth and TO is set on an alien planet is probably the only difference but I would suggest that the Future Earth depicted in Nausicca is the same  read more

PROTECT YOUR ENVIROMENT!! Earth day before the start of the nausica movie, there is an logo of the WWF ( world wildlife foundation) wich appreantly used this movie as a promotional 'eyeopener'. both hokuto no ken and nausica storyline place after humanity ravaged the earth wether its a nuclear fallout or a global war, but more in naucsica case there is an effort to discover to revive the earth and let the humans learn from their mistake

Ecology, Human VS Nature, human nature, self destruction, humans ignorance and arrogance, all these themes are raised there. "Earth Girl Arjuna" - "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" - "Princess Mononoke" - "Mushishi" - ... They are similar, with some same context and themes risen, but they are different in presentation of those themes.

This recommendation may belong to every Miyazaki's film, because of pretty same characters design and story narration. At the same time I would reccomend Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995), because of the equally drawn post-apocalyptic worlds.

This anime are quite similar for the general feeling: exploration of strange worlds, strange creatures. However Miyazaki's settings are always the most complete and his protagonists the most characterized.

-similar postapocaliptic ambient and atmosphere, angel's egg is more gothic though. -steampunkish/dieselpunkish machienery -both have outstanding landscape designes and animation

The protagonist in both movies (a girl in Nausicaa and a boy in Kaze wo Mita Shounen) flies on the stream of wind. Moreover, both movies touch the problem of war and a man conquering the nature, and both contain drama and slight romance. Kaze wo Mita Shounen happens to be more "mature" in its atmosphere.
report Recommended by Arrvilja
Both are about surviving in a world after the destruction of modern civilization. Nausicaä is much more of a sci-fi/fantasy story, though both do contain elements of this. They feature very distinct lead characters that choose to embrace the way of the world they live in, but they have a curiosity about what happened before their time. They both have a lot to say about humanity, the environment, and the ways that civilization as we know it can be flawed. The worlds themselves are very much characters here.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
If you've seen one, its highly recommended you watch the other. Both animes are involve a conflict between humanity and giant insects, called "Blue" in Blue Gender. and "Om" in Nausicaa. Both animes are set in a post-Apocalyptic world. In Nausicaa technology regressed, but in Blue Gender, humans are merely endangered. In Blue Gender, the Blue evolved to destroy humanity because humanity polluted the Earth, in Nausicaa, the Insects are what keep humanity alive with their purifying trees but humans are hostile to them out of fear, thus they are engaged in conflict.

If you like anime inspired by Moebius art, you should check out both. Nausicaä is definitely the better one, but for a 20 minutes OVA, Dragon's Heaven ain't bad. And nobody is going to make a mecha anime with that art style anytime soon.
