Synopsis

A powerful necromancer known as the Corpse God dies during a legendary battle, only to be reborn as Polka Shinoyama, a young boy in modern-day Tokyo. In the process of trying to adapt to his new physical body, he gets targeted by various groups that deal with the supernatural. Among them is Misaki Sakimiya, a high school girl who can see spirits and is out for his blood from the very moment they meet.

Attempting to make sense of this situation where unknown parties want him dead, Polka eventually meets Takumi Kuruya, a contractor skilled in surveillance and hacking, and Lisa Kuraki, a crime boss operating out of Shinjuku. Alongside these—and other unexpected—allies, Polka braves danger to reveal the truth of his reincarnation and the fate awaiting the world he now lives in.

At first look the anime isn't much different than some of the generic Isekai I've watched but it changes really quickly. The story is not something to write home about either. Every episode seems to just ravel things up except for a few ones. The story is different however, it's a good way to take a break from all the "trashy Isekai" that tends to follow the same kinda plot. The ending was a lil bit rushed as well. But there's already a second season so I'm not complaining.

Over all the anime is different from the generic Isekais out there and provides a different taste ...

Reverse isekai urban dark fantasy isn't a direction you see a lot of anime taking. It has a promising start with a good first episode twist and some interesting setup and conflicts in the early episodes, but it starts to show flaws in key areas as the series progresses. The main problem is structural; for all its attempts to affect the tone of a mature thriller, it's a shonen battle series at heart.
