Very similar characters. Both involve a guy who can't remember his past traveling a wasteland searching for his purpose. They each have some action and involve lots of philosophizing.
report Recommended by Danish
Both shows feature a lonely protagonist wandering dystopian wastelands and deserts. Vash the Stampede and Casshern both have incredible powers, are thus victorious in many battles and seem to be invincible. While there's a large bounty on Vash's head, the inhabitants of Casshern's world believe that killing Casshern would bring them eternal life, so they are both hunted and attacked wherever they go.

Both anime have this gloomy but beautiful atmosphere and the action takes place in the future. The protagonist, an outcast, is searching for understanding of the world and so, the main thing going on in both scenarios is his journey. Both anime have another main character, a small girl who seemingly has the understanding of the world but also innocence. Answers to protagonists' questions are given in both anime.

It's not about the action, it's about the journey and the discovery of two amazingly created worlds. They both are pure piece of art!
report Recommended by pasteroni
The biggest similarity here is the world. They are very bleak and grey and they feel as important as the main characters. Both focus on trying to understand something about the past history of the world and simply trying to survive in hostile conditions.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Both are science fiction series about a journey... Kino no Tabi is about a journey through human nature and society. Casshern Sins is a journey to the end of the world, through isolation, death, despair and hope. Both are great introspective series that will challenge your view on the world.
report Recommended by wakka9ca
It's distant future, the golden age of humanity is in the past. Main character finds himself in a strange place and realises he have no memories. He starts the journey and piece by piece finds out who is he. Both anime are gloomy, with strong spirit of loneliness and bittersweet ending.
report Recommended by Day-Elven
Both are about wandering in sad, depressing world to find something better, both have action scenes, both are in some way psychological.
report Recommended by Idan
Both anime feature nonhuman characters in a death-related setting who meet a large variety of characters that help them grasp the nature of humanity and death. They both are also very stylish in presentation and, while it's mostly dark, can vary wildly in tone
report Recommended by iBlewupthemoon
Both shows are about the journey, both literally and mentally, for their main characters to understand their world and themselves better. Despite the different setting, the emotions which both works evoke is simillar, and the topic of life and death, as well as how you're spending your time between these two undeniable facts is the main focus of the stories, albeit somewhat concealed.
report Recommended by Tyrraell
Both of these show's clearly occupy their own niche, but they also have a similar feel. I guess they also have similar themes, similar pacing, and take place in a post-apocalyptic setting. They're also both really good. Some other similarities: Morality in shades of grey. Inspired art+ character design. Thought provoking without being overly deep.
report Recommended by pt_de_lamighty
Both has awesome handfights and similar spirit of journeys.
report Recommended by zen-hikka
These two series have a very similar feel to them. Both deal with a world in ruins. The character art is very similar. There is an atmosphere of tragedy and deep emotions. Brigadoon has some funnier epsodes that Casshern Sins doesn't have, but overall I think if you enjoyed one of them, you'll like the other.

Both are Madhouse productions where the main character help others find peace in a post-apocalyptic world. KamiNai deals with a world without death while Casshern Sins deals with a world filled with death.
report Recommended by MykeJinX89
Both casshern and hyakkimaru find killing and destroying as their only reason for living but they soon gain the heart to love someone after meeting a small child(ringo and dororo). So if u love animez where an innocent smile can change a heartless MC, u'll probably like these two.
report Recommended by yabuki-kun
Main character is extremely powerful. Travels across the land of a destroyed world fighting various enemies and helping strangers. Both series have lots of action and violence.
report Recommended by Jackson_H
Both are dark and depressing that messes around with philosophical themes and tropes about reality.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both shows are somewhat darker, more serious takes on classic Tatsunoko shows from the '70s. They both deal with postmodern interpretations of the original shows' characters and stories, and update them for a new generation. They also both take place in similar, wasteland-like settings.
report Recommended by estherdevil
These are both series that follow protagonists that do not fully understand their own existence. They have abilities that far surpass that of a normal human and are put in situations that test how much they value (or don't) humanity as a whole. Casshern Sins is much darker in tone and atmosphere, Xam'd is much lighter but no less serious. The animation and art direction in both is fantastic. Xam'd has detail that stands toe to toe with the best of Studio Gibli's films, and Casshern has a moody and expressionistic style that is not easily replicated. Both stand out for their strong visual identity.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Both are about lost memories. However The Big O features a mass memory wipe, while Cassher Sins is only limited to Casshern. Both of them however, feature a dystopian future due to a past cataclysm. that took the lives of many and are the result of the protagonist's memory loss.
report Recommended by VentusCross
Both male leads go on a journey filled with despair and sadness. Both do not remember who and what they truly are, and they slowly discover the truth and consequence of their existence as time progresses. Same dark atmosphere, same philosophical storytelling.
report Recommended by Ardamaeus
Both main protagonists are titular protagonists, with the story being focused on character progression and development via their experiences with different individuals with differing strifes, struggles, and issues. Both main protagonists seek to understand themselves better, as they both are not good with understanding or expressing emotions, or even just understanding themselves in general. Both tried to find a new reason to live. Violet and Casshern both had to bear and deal with the sins from their respective pasts, knowing that none of that will ever disappear. Both of them have tried to commit suicidal acts due to almost having lost hope of finding a purpose to  read more

Quon and Casshern are both "indestructible" main characters atoning for tragic pasts.

For starters, both shows star robots and feature a large cast of them interacting with humans. In addition, both shows are almost entirely grim while featuring a tormented protagonist. If you can get past Kikaider's retro animation/style, and you like Casshern Sins, you'll most likely enjoy it.
report Recommended by Brockemsockem
Both take place in a cyberpunk setting and spend most of its run telling episodic stories about characters that ultimately tie in to a central plotline later on.
report Recommended by iBlewupthemoon
Both are dark remakes of old science-fiction anime, discussing the truth of consciousness through the interactions of robots and humans. They both have a epic, mournful feel to them as well as similar artistic directions (this mainly being updating the artwork without updating the character design). Also, they both have brief, sudden moments of English lyric songs that are meant to be mournful and emotional but come off to English speakers (at least myself) as completely hilarious. They are both really great watches-- if you've enjoyed one but haven't seen the other, I'm almost sure you'll like them both. If you haven't seen either I  read more

These two anime share a strikingly similar atmosphere. Surreal, dark, otherworldly sci-fi. The settings are post-apocalyptic, lonely wastelands where the characters wander with little to no dialogue. But when the characters do speak, it's most likely an esoteric line that ties into a deeper overarching theme. Casshern Sins features inserts of streamlined fight sequences throughout, but otherwise, both anime's pacing are a contemplative slow burn, accompanied by gorgeous music and artwork.
report Recommended by astroneet
Both are fantastic, darker and more mature re-imagined re-adaptations of old works. both are also series that deal with the nature of humanity, and whether robots can achieve that.
report Recommended by MaximumBeef
Both series involve dark post apocalyptic story lines, come from a similar era of animation and have a similar tone, so those looking for something similar in nature should hopefully not be displeased.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Casshern Sins and Soultaker revolve around powerful but melancholic protagonists, who on their journeys through a dark scifi world meet many interesting characters. Both series are dark and have a comfortless atmosphere and tragic aspects through the whole series.
report Recommended by Bocknoi
Despite being completely different genres, both have very similar character designs.
report Recommended by Cozye
Both of Them is very philosophical and make the plot's as puzzle which you must solve for yourself. Don't expect the anime will tell you everything, because the director's want you do it for yourself.
report Recommended by fertygo
A pair of anime focused on a robotic character's responsibility to save the world from themselves. They use standalone episodes to focus on the emotional development of said robotic characters, moving the overarching story a little at a time while keeping the final destination vague along the way. They use some compositions (close up shots of faces, etc.) that are surprising similar to one another, and each have somewhat unique art styles.
report Recommended by Hollani
Both are directed by Yamauchi Shigeyasu and because this is some noticeable similarities between these two Animes, like dark scenaries and the protagonists which are wandering looking for answers to their existence.
report Recommended by bereta002
Post-apocalyptic worlds, where everything is falling apart, main character lost his memories and tries desperately to regain them(kind of "lost" in Kurozuka), lots of action, both animated by Madhouse.
report Recommended by ThEoNePugNA
The main characters in each show (specifically Nagara in Sonny Boy and Casshern in Casshern Sins) are stuck in a place they don't know, and don't know why. They both are in a depressed state because they don't understand the world around them or why things are the way they are, but they want to know. Both stories take place in worlds that initially seem completely empty. Both stories are bleak and melancholic, but also bittersweet. They are both profound, almost too much, but still manage to be engaging and have a lot happen. Time is basically irrelevant in both shows.
report Recommended by MergPlatelip
Both are a darker take on their respective series with realistic themes. What they have in common are pretty much high caliber animation and visuals with better art and character designs. At times I can't help but feel depressing moments in both series. What they have both in common is deconstruction of what it means to be a hero.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both are dark stories about a certain individual trying to fight their personal struggles. Also both stories have an apocalyptic and dark feeling to it.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both take place in an apocalyptic setting with a bleak future due to mankind being on poverty and that a source is needed to cure the cause. Both shows are Sci-Fi themed with the exception that CS is realistic and GC is supernatural. The main char in both shows deal with philosopical and emotional issues.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both shows emphasize in emotion, visuals, soundtrack, and storytelling that convey of what it feels like to be alone and hated. Kenshin and Casshern are cold blooded killers to begin with but at the same time they start developing to the point where they feel human and not a monster.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both are set in a post apocalyptic setting caused by a singular entity. Also the tone in both stories are gritty and psychological.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Casshern and Dante are powerful warriors who cannot be defeated easily. The little girl in both shows have a similar relationship. The tone in both shows are gritty and dark fashioned. Not to mention people have been comparing Casshern and Dio's rivalry to Dante and Vergil. Personally I thought of Casshern Sins as Megaman mixed with the elements of Devil May Cry since Casshern was the one that influenced the birth of Megaman.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
MegaMan X and Casshern Sins are quite similar even though their stories are different. First off, both of them have a cyborg protagonist who is designed for fighting. (Fighting styles are different though) Secondly, both series feature a world in which cyborgs live alongside with humans, almost as equals. It also seems that the human population has decreased in both of them. Character desing is also something worth noting, since the main characters (X and Casshern) look very much alike.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both take place on a fictional world filled with partially humans and partially different beings (Demons in Claymore and Robots in Casshern Sins). Both Casshern and Clare seek a purpose of their life by fighting in an episodic fashion as they meet allies and enemies alike. Madhouse produced both shows with high caliber quality and music.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both are reboots which are considered to be the darkest entries to their respective genre (Casshern Sins-Robot and H x H-Shonen) and both get deconstructed to make it depressing and realistic.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both are dark, edgy, and depressing that hits you at some point of the story.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Casshern and Fuse start off as ruthless killers whom both later shows emotion later on as the story progresses. Both anime are very dark and explores psychological aspects that it portrays and are adult oriented.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both are dark take on their respective series and take place in a post apocalyptic setting. Yusei and Casshern are similar in terms of personality and are willing to protect their friends as well as finding a way to establish from the very sin they were involved with. Also the main female are similar as well (Aki and Lyuze) Not to mention, Shinigami reference in the show (Dune and Kyosuke Kiryu)
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Casshern like Alucard is OP and can't help to compare between Dio and Alexander as well. Hellsing Ultimate on the other hand is a masterpiece but Casshern Sins as an underrated show deserves to be one as well.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Immortal main character with no recollection of their past wandering through a ruined world.

Attack on titan season 4's biggest characteristic is Eren yeager. His extreme complexity is what drives the entire season. Casshern Sins has inspired a huge part of Eren's character to the point that They are pretty much the same characters thematically. Scene by scene, line by line, AOT has been heavily influenced by Casshern sins. It borrows the most things from it. Casshern and Eren are 2 of the most complex characters ever and even though Eren still wins in pure complexity, Casshern is able to achieve relatively much more in a significantly shorter run. Other similarities- 1)Extremely depressing tones (CS>>AOT) 2)Great OST (AOT>>CS) 3)Heavily philosophical and tackling similar themes

-Both are dark in tone and themes. -Both have main characters who have complex and contemplative personalities. -Each show has well choreographed and cool action.
report Recommended by Cozye
Both have a very bleak tone and no major villain or high stakes to the plot. They also take place in a very beautiful and fantastic setting that feels real due to its worn look and the story's bleakness; one gets the sense that the world of Casshern Sins could have looked like Gunnm before the apocalypse. There is also an amnesiac cyborg with mysteriously strong fighting ability for a protagonist and similar fight scene choreography.
report Recommended by kerberos242
Similar format. The show is largely episodic but has a main story that develops over time. In addition, they both have top-notch animation, sound design, editing etc. Doesn't have the "feel" of most conventional, commercial anime.
report Recommended by INeedAnAlias
Both feature death as a major theme.
report Recommended by Dengola
Both are similar in that they have sci-fi elements that follow their own set of rules, their main protagonists that are confused about who they are throughout the series, and both have main storylines based upon the ultimate destruction of the world. Both Argento Soma and Casshern Sins also similarly have a younger secondary protagonist who interacts with the main protagonist and helps them discover themselves. Although it isn't labeled as one, Argento Soma has loads of psychological elements like Casshern Sins as well.
report Recommended by Enivlens
Both are sci-fi action flicks with androids as protagonists that contemplate similar questions: meaning of being alive, finality of death, religion, AI cognizance, etc. Similar post-apocalyptic settings. Casshern has a more melancholic tone on the whole.
report Recommended by Varcolacsquadron
It amazes me that no one has made this recommendation. Both shows portray a dark, gloomy yet beautiuful post-apocalyptic world filled with mysteries. We also have female leads acting as a tsundere (and they're not annoying at all! I like them a lot). However, please notice that romance is a subplot so don't expect anything sweet.
report Recommended by destinical
Both series are slightly existential and cover heavy themes, both deal with the survival of humankind, and both contain supernatural elements in a semi-realistic world. For similarities concerning the main protagonists, both end up in situations where they must unwilling fight in order to live, both are condemned by almost everyone in their lives once they know the truth about who they really are, both have problems with their "girlfriend", and both have a few metal breakdowns throughout the series.
report Recommended by Enivlens
Both deal with existentialism and whatnot, have superb visuals and some pretty cool symbolism. Although sins is rather slow paced, a lot of people who enjoy Eva can really find something out of this show.
report Recommended by Dust_
It's like Dororo's atmosphere and world-feel in Jamurai Jack's robot setting and episodic-ness with a sprinkle of [Mushishi] introspection in places. And fuck tonnes of post-apocalypse [Angel's Egg] darkness.
report Recommended by mtsRhea
The main characters in both shows are OP and have mysterious past and how they acquired their powers. Casshern Sins is the opposite of OP Man for the following Reasons: -Underrated to OP Man's Overratedness -Darker and Grittier tone to OP Man's Light and Goofy tone -Casshern is more emotional as opposed to Saitama's lazy demeanor Both shows are produced by Madhouse and if you enjoyed one or the other, watch it.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both shows deconstruct the concept of what it means to be a hero. Another thing they have in common is that they are darker than their previous counterpart series with better visuals, soundtrack, and artwork.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both take an alternative approach of their series in the most depressing and dark manner. Music and animation are god tier thanks to Ufotable and Madhouse. They show protag trying to struggle just so they can find a reason by continuing to fight. Definitely a show for mature audience and taken seriously.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both shows portray main char to be OP who never loses any battles. Tatsuya is more stoic and stable whereas Casshern angst and goes emotional which is the difference.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Vrains and Sins are the bleakest series in the entry so far. The themes will hit you to the point of depression, realism, and edginess due to how dark they are. Yusaku and Casshern starts of emotionless and ruthless searching for the meaning of their life during their journey and at one point meet companions and enemies as the story rolls along impacting their development. Though Vrains is shonen, it is far more seinen than 5ds due to the tragic backstories and deaths that the cast has. Sins on the other hand is the departure from Casshern only to target adults making it the quality show that nowadays has  read more

Mushiking shares the same character designer [Yoshihiko Umakoshi], director [Shigeyasu Yamauchi], music composer [Kaoru Wada], sound effect designer [Tooru Noguchi], writer [Ryuu Kamio], and series composer [Reiko Yoshida] as Casshern Sins. And you can really tell within minutes. They're basically the same show. Coming out a few years earlier, Mushiking is the proto-Casshern Sins. If you love Casshern Sins, you will love Mushiking. Sub recommended.
report Recommended by mtsRhea
Both series feature a lot of philosophising as a lost soul wandering a dystopian wasteland continues to find danger and get caught up into fights against futuristic robotic sentience. Blame! differs as it philosophises escapism as its protagonist wanders a labyrinth of concrete and steel. While Casshern Sins differs as it philosophises the concept of death as its protagonist searches for answers concerning his identity whilst being hunted by robots who believe by eating Casshern they will achieve immortality. So, if you are a fan of stories involving a dystopian setting with some action and a lot of philosophising, I'll bet you'll love both series.

Shared themes include what it means to be human and accept those different from oneself. Also, these shows are better understood through their symbols and overall messages rather than plot events.

Both take place in a post apocalyptic and dystopian setting and have high moral grounds and philosophy that will bring the viewer to their knees and as well as life lessons that will be unforgettable.

These series are in many ways different, but both are very philosophical and thoughtprovoking. They are mature without sacrificing enjoyment and action. They also both revolve around the concept of eternal life and are partly or entirely post-apocalyptic. I strongly recommend both these series, which are amongst my all-time favorites.

This Anime will tell you about the world of "Casshern" (one of the MC´s in Infinity-T Force). There you will see his true character which is especially at the beginning hard to understand but worth to know. It has alot of action combat and also it is really sad when you reach the end of the show when you finally understand his actions and the world he lives in.

Both have the same kind of spandex white uniform and helmet. Both appeals to 70’s art and even sports the similar hairstyle. It’s like Casshern is the missing member of G-force.

Both series feel as if they move at a slower pace than other anime, but keep your attention all the while. While there is much action, they keep a more somber mood, rather than the excitement of stereotypical action anime. While you may not see much in common between Noir and Casshern Sins at first glance, I guarantee if you loved one you'll love the other.

Plot-wise they are not similar, but the colourful artwork in Iblard Jikan is reminiscent of the beautiful backgrounds from Casshern Sins and I'd say the overall mood is the same. Both feature great background music which creates a wonderful atmosphere. I'd say if you really ENJOYED Iblard Jikan, Casshern Sins may be your cup of tea.

Main characters Takaya "D-Boy" (Blade) and Casshern aren't exactly normal humans and both are very indifferent to their surroundings, but develop and change a lot. They're very powerful delivering fast paced and over the top action. Both shows heavily emphasize strong rivalries with villians that are very similar to the main characters, with Blade vs Evil, and Casshern vs Dio. Both shows feature gritty, grimdark, and post-apocalyptic settings with similar pacing. To top it all off, they share the same composer Kaoru Wada, his music in both is very similar and incredible. In both series the main characters seek to redeem themselves of sins they don't quite remember. Both sometimes seem meandering at times and absolutely beautiful at others. They also share a similar level of western religious symbolism without ever relying on overt Christian symbolism like Evangelion or Ergo Proxy.

Imagine the awesome world of Casshern Sins except instead of 70's character designs fighting each other, we have girls who never get any sunlight in black string bikinis fight each other. Now toss in a massive amount of barely related scenes from a generic high school girls setting that will bore you silly when all you want is to watch those pale chicks in the post-apocalyptic bathroom in black string bikinis fight again Ta-da~! You have Black Rock Shooter

Casshern is similar to .Hack//Sign main-character-wise. The personality types are fairly similar, and I feel that the sad undertone of each series is similar as well. That aside, actual story lines differ vastly in their own unique way.

I'm really surprised noone has mentioned these two before. They are really similar. They're both dealing with philosophical themes concerning death and what it means to be alive, and dealing with consequences of your choices in life. They're both pretty dark and slow-paced animes about a few characters travelling around and discovering their own truth from talking to people they meet along the way. They both also deal with conflicts between robots and humans.

-Both have an Overpowered main character -Both characters go on their journey ALONE (for the most part) for similar reasons -Both stories introduce many characters in one episode arcs Casshern's sins does have much less romance than sword art online. It focuses more on people fearing death. Sword art online looks at this a little bit but turns more towards the romance and trying to beat the game.
report Recommended by grthr
Though there is a lot of action, both series are more about drama. Characters you've known for multiple episodes will suddenly kick the bucket. That said, half the cast could have been easily replaced by redshirts and no one would have noticed.

The plots are complex, driving the action, and the characters of both shows utterly wreck stuff with their fists.
report Recommended by 1231415333
Similar overall message, but more padded and vague (in the case of Casshern Sins), as well as pointless. But there's some action and a post apocalyptic feel to it, so that may be a plus for some. Plastic memories does the job of relaying the message far better in my oppinion though, in a much more real and emotional way.
report Recommended by mkzxwing
Dark, soul-crushing action mixed beautifully with deep emotional drama. Main characters who are known throughout the land as legendary fighters, but are, on a deeper level, lone wolves who struggle with the purpose of living and fighting. Through existentialist themes and emotionally charged soundtracks, both shows accentuate the beauty in bleakness. Casshern Sins does this in an episodic post-apocalyptic scifi while Berserk does this in a more overarching medieval fantasy.
report Recommended by astroneet
Semi-overpowered main character does things he doesn't want to do to save the world from ruin. Along side him is a loli character who has more of an impact to the story than you might think. Along the way, the protagonist meets different characters that he befriends/betrays. Casshern Sins is more of a psychological anime with slow pacing compared to Rewrite which is more of a fantasy/action anime. If you like one, I am sure you will like the other.

Gatchaman Crowds and Casshern Sins are more recent re-imaginings of classic Tatsuonoko Production anime made back in the 70s. But while Gatchaman Crowds is an optimistic portrayal of Japanese superheroes, there's a heavy dose of bleakness in the world of Casshern Sins. Either way, both series prove that certain characters and concepts in the anime medium are timeless.

Casshern Sins and Accel world have both characteristics of humans, robots, and fighting. Yet both are completely different in story. Both have robots and fighting in another world-like place, yet Casshern Sins is more of the futuristic apocalyptic type, Accel World is more of the futuristic happy ending type . Accel World has more chicks while Casshern sins is sad and lonely. Either way both animes made me anticipated to see the next episode leaving me wanting more.

- Storytelling thru avant-garde animation style; Casshern Sins has a darker colour palette - You follow the MCS in both shows as they grapple with existence, their mortality, and things outside their control - Both MCs are like children learning, thru each ep and with different new scenarios, their place in the world, and why they want to protect it from something so much bigger than them.

Similarly vague and bleak worlds that get developed/explained throughout the story. Both use color and space fantastically to convey their worlds and themes. If you want a post apocalyptic story with a strikingly unique art-style, either of these are good picks.

Both main charcthers from these series are suffering from amnesia and both series show how they find out about thei past and what they do when they remember. And they are feared an both get false rumors made up about them.Other than that the series couldn't be more different,Casshern Sins is about a guy who doesn't know what he is and is in a futuristic time and he fights robots while in Dusk Maiden of Amnesia the main Charcthers a ghost.Even though they seem completely different you'll enjoy them both if you just like to watch series where the Charcthers have to regain their memory.

Mostly recommended for Suzaku fans. This series has a main character who shares many similarities with Kururugi Suzaku: (Spoilers) 1. has committed a great wrong in his past, 2. goes beserk and becomes almost undefeatable when attacked, 3. has a 'curse' upon him such that he can't die. 4. Also spin kicks and cries abundantly. Secondary (female) character of the series also bears some similarities to Kallen. In sum, if you enjoyed watching Suzaku angsting/brooding and trying to find atonement, you'll probably enjoy Casshern Sins.

How a lot of the people kept captive in Deadman Wonderland where either guilty of their crimes or not, they eventually found reason underneath the hell they've been put through..yet later realize that reality can't be changed without a reason to believe. In the end, the use of light is both dramatized and metaphoric between Casshern and another man during the last episode.

Shared themes include what it means to be human and accept those different from oneself. Also, these shows are better understood through their symbols and overall messages rather than plot events.
