Both series revolve around a journey of self-discovery for a protagonist who is literally a weapon, and feature a unique artistic style with highly-stylized characters.
Both stories feature a walking weapon of a protagonist making his way across the world searching. Both anime also contain a fair amount of dialogue but split it up with some intense fight scenes. Casshern Sins differs with its protagonist searching for the answers of their identity whilst also being set in a dystopian wasteland and philosophising concepts of death. While Katanagatari differs with a duo searching the land for the 12 deviant swords whilst containing less action but more comedy and romance.
