Akudama Drive is a dystopian cyberpunk world with fun characters and good action similar to Edgerunners, but just don't expect the same level of emotional draw and quality as Edgerunners.

Both are gory and dark anime where nobody is safe. In both are young main character joins a gang of mercenaries/assassins that fight against the corrupt elites.

Hyper gory and sexual with a weak person getting something that makes them stand out in strength. Similar melancholic feeling endings.

As a hard sci-fi anime, Cyberpunk is actually a more edgy and darker version of Cowboy Bebop. Both shows are inspired by and reimagined Western sci-fi classics to show just how insidious and dangerous a world of ever-changing technology can be for humanity. Expect from both anime a fight of a truly good MC with a constant risk of drowning in cynicism and lack of integrity, criticism of the corporate mentality, as well as a good combination of action and light SoL elements.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners disappointed me in many ways, despite being very well animated. I didn't care much for the plot, music, and pacing of the show. I am always excited to see new content in the cyberpunk genre, but this was not my thing. If I ask myself what my favorite anime in the cyberpunk genre is, the answer is season 1 of Psycho-Pass. I have a lot of love for classic films like Akira and Ghost in the Shell, but Psycho-Pass is a near perfect psychological thriller that sets the bar for futuristic dystopian stories and anime villains. Psycho-Pass has an incredible soundtrack, story, and above  read more

Although Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is based on a Western cyberpunk video game, this anime is clearly inspired by Akira, which is one of the defining film of Japanese cyberpunk. The characters in both anime are parts of gangs that trace their attitudes and behaviours on the Japanese punk subculture. You can finally watch a new cyberpunk anime that isn't a detective anime.

Both share stylish edgy visuals, storytelling and also lots of action as well too.

Vivy isn't a punk show, but both have futuristic worlds with cyber related dilemmas. Both shows are very heavy emotionally, especially towards the end.

Both shows start with the MC initially having a peaceful life until a girl who belongs to a criminal organization got the MC involved and dupes the MC. Despite all that the MC decided to join said criminal gang and the girl sort of become his love interest. Both are set in a lawless town where everyone does illegal things and there is a lot of action with gunfires, loads of killing and blood. However, Cyberpunk is way more edgier considering it have some adult content in this series. Cyberpunk also takes on a different direction halfway through its show as the MC of black  read more

Both shows, however their format differs, belong to cyberpunk genre. Their story is set in a big, futuristic city. Everything is coated with beautiful visuals and animation.

Cyberpunk societies where most people are upgrading their body, with some pushing it to the limit and becoming almost fully mechanical. Both anime deal with criminal and military applications of these technologies. Top hackers play a major role in their stories, using their talents on machines and humans alike.

Aside from both being in a futuristic 'humanities-gone-to-shit' setting, this is mostly a VIBE reccomendation. Both center around themes of growing up, maturity, picking the 'bad' side and romantic elements that compliment all that. Cyberpunk is better though, I still haven't forgiven the ending of FranXX.

Episode 5 of FLCL was one of Imaishi's first directorial gigs, and FLCL is overall extremely similar to Edgerunners in tone and overall vibe.

Edamame (Great Pretender) and David (Cyberpunk) have been struggling to find purpose in a society that rejects them until an encounter with a con man and a cyberpunk changes everything. Danger. Money. Thrills. Entering a life of crime is easy, but surviving it and leaving it can be impossible. Cyberpunk is a more violent series than Great Pretender, which focuses on the inner turmoil of all the main characters.
report Recommended by lancelot200
both feature animation by studio trigger and lots of trippy chaos and action it as well too

As the same as guilty but worst OP ED OST and worst character development.

Similar vibe of fast-paced action and extreme visuals accentuating the distorted reality.

both have young male older female dynamic and much of the action happening at night too

Rather standard crime dramas with a similar underdog setup + a sci-fi twist. Also, video game adaptations.

Blood. Gore. Chaos. Insanity. These four words are what I’d describe both Dorohedoro and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Both take place in insane settings with a healthy amount of chaos, and both have a group of oddballs (more so in Dorohedoro) as our main protagonists. However, Dorohedoro is somewhat lighter and more crazy than Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Regardless, it’s something that Edgerunners might be interested in.

Similar dark futuristic theme Both have great production Honestly, while No Guns Life "extends" a bit more Cyberpunk is best at its fast paced development

Can't go in depth due to spoilers but if you liked David, a lot of his characteristics appear in the series the further you go.

Both are mature shows set in a dystopian megacity which shows the struggles and dangers of body modifications and class struggles.
report Recommended by Strikeca
Both focus around characters who were thrust into crime and are fighting against a much powerful criminal group and of course dashes of romance in it as well too and lots of wild action.

both feature reluctant mcs caught up in a world of chaos in it

Both share an edgy and stylish animation, artstyle and also visuals too as well as a spunky female lead and also lots of gory action in it as well too.

Both shows are sci-fi series with stunning animation quality and visuals. Everything is accompanied with great direction, audio, and voice acting. Characters in both animes have unique designs and personalities differing from each other. Main cast consists of likeable characters, with each one of them having their own goals and dreams.

Takeru (Freedom) and David (Cyberpunk) are street punks living in dystopian cities that decided to fight against the system in their own way. For Takeru, this means fighting to take down the system that control society. For David, this means living on the edge in a bid to be independent. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Freedom are must watch series for anyone interested in sci-fi anime.

A colourful, fast anime filled with action and set in an urban environment. The main characters live in a crazy, criminal-ridden city with crimes occurring around every corner. The protagonist is a boy who obtained an implant to his body that gives him powers but will destroy his brain if he uses it too much. He uses this power to join a band of comrades.

David (Cyberpunk) and Joe (Megalo Box) are outcast who aspire for more in life. Despite their potential, society never intended to give an opportunity to succeed so they took matters into their hands. For David, this meant transforming his body with cybernetics to become powerful. For Joe, this meant rejecting enhancements to prove his skill is unmatched. David and Joe walked their own path with no regrets until the end.

Cyberpunk and Super Crooks are two very stylized anime series that pulls your attention with their settings and character design. Super villains and cyberpunks have similar lifestyles involving danger, crime, thrills, and money. Always ready to push the risks for a chance at greater rewards. Could you do the same?

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Deca-Dence will deliver on everything you need in a good science fiction: a futuristic society, engaging world building, and imaginative technologies. Most importantly, their storylines examine the impact of living in such a society on the main characters. Of course, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Deca-Dence are part of different sci-fi subgenres and have different tones. You don't want to miss out on these sci-fi anime.

Fast paced, ultra-violence with a lot of sexual imagery + awesome colour palette and animation.

Both The anime are set in a 'dystopian' or 'to be ruined' future. Where the main characters are Given a kind of tool to implicate heir powers, Psionics and Cyberware and they join a group of such similar people, Scarlet Guardians and Edgerunners respectively, to fight with robotic antagonists. The setting can give the same vibe even if the rating of both anime differs by 4 stars . It can grant a vibe of a futuristic setting.

Very similar except Lycoris recoil has a good ending for the MC. Both are very action based. Both MC's fight for a cause which then becomes a person.

Hellsing: Ultimate - A Bloody Good Time! Hey folks, You've got to check out this anime: "Hellsing: Ultimate"! It's like a wild vampire action movie starring a dude named Alucard – yeah, like Dracula, but way cooler. So, there's this secret organization, Hellsing, dealing with supernatural troublemakers. And Alucard, the main guy, is a total badass vampire hunter with a flair for the dramatic. The boss lady, Integra Hellsing, runs the show and shows everyone who's boss. The animation is top-notch, the fights are bloody (not for the faint-hearted!), and the soundtrack kicks it up a notch. If you're into dark action with a dash of vampire madness,  read more

Despite being separated by hundreds of years both series are set in the unforgving words full of violece. Hectoliters of boold are shead and dissmembered body parts fly left and right. And in both cases the violence does not exist just for the shock factor but is an istrument of world building and catalize development of the heros. Main characters are like mirrors immagies of each other. David starts the story as fully flaged human but with the passing time he replaces them with augmentations Hyakimaru starts his journey as a corps without his senses and limbs which has been replaced with prostesis. While the plot and art style of Sky Crawlers and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are pretty different, there are some similarities that really stand out. -No spoilers, but the way our main protagonist (Kannami/David) is built up to be this extraordinary individual, their-self realization, and their climatic meeting with the big bad (Teacher/Adam Smasher) and its result is almost identical in both. -the female protagonist in both (Kusanagi/Lucy) are pretty similar, initially appearing as this emotionless women, but later on revealing their aspirations/desires. -Both deal with some philosophical themes: what is the true purpose in life? What are we meant to be as humans? Whose dreams are we following? -pretty minor,  read more

Both are masterpieces that don't shy away from darker topics and build remarkably memorable characters. While Edgerunners is far shorter, more casual and faster-paced, LoGH is a slow-burn with plenty of political intrigue, twists and heart-stopping moments. There are other reasons and general feelings behind the shows that you'd just have to watch to understand. "You can't defy your fate, after all."

While Cyberpunk: Edgerunners isn’t about arms dealers, I feel that there are some similarities with Jormungand. Both are dark anime involving a young boy getting involved with a dark world. Funnily enough, both of their bosses have white hair…however, David is older than Jonah, and Jormungand isn’t as explicitly violent. Jormungand also has a second season. However, I think Edgerunners scratches that Jormungand itch pretty well, so check it out if you haven’t!

Nicely paced, well executed. great cast. 0 dull moments, great comedic timing, very nicely directed, high octane action . Though the genres are miles different from each other you will enjoy them both. You are in for a treat

Dark themes, grim visions of future, lots of action, guns, occasional sad moments, etc. Art style could not be any more different.

Same director and studio, similar levels of insane, over the top, cartoony violence. Both feature stunning animation and banger OSTs. Kill la Kill is more light-hearted and goofy, Cyberpunk is edgier and more serious, but I enjoyed both greatly and feel many others would as well.

Both are based around popular video game series, as well as also sharing an edgy stylish characters, story and visuals as well too. And also rebellious themes too.

Both Katanagatari and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners feature young men finding purpose in their lives, as well as a cast of conniving characters, all willing to pull a fast one in order to achieve power. Both David and Shichika start off rather aimless, but after meeting a white-haired lady, they find what they values and goals they'd like to achieve. Both MCs are also gifted with overpowered skills that give them an edge in their respective stories.

Both are sci fi themed stories with a focus on robotic technologies, conspiracy theories, lots of action and a reluctant mc getting caught up in the action of the story too.

A group of young people naively accept work from a shady businessman, and get punished for it. The main character starts losing his metaphorical soul to a machine the harder he pushes himself. They also push themselves so hard out of respect for a charismatic leader figure they look up to.

Mezzo Forte is like a shorter Cyberpunk spin-off. They both have the same theme of the corporate exploiting the masses. Both also have a gang of outcasts who try to live by in such a futuristic dystopian world. Mezzo Forte may in no way be connected to the Cyberpunk 2077 but it has a feeling of being a side quest or DLC mission of the game. You might enjoy this one if you enjoyed the Edgerunners anime.

Dedication to the cause, dedication to the crew. Each MC is willing to take a beating and dish one out when they need to. They will go to the wall and back for their friends, their girl friend, or for the sake of a fight. Daniel and Takemichi are, the strongest.
