Stories are about war that is brewing. Lots of drama that is tied to war: suffering, sadness etc There is good amount of interactions between both sides of conflict. Soldiers of opposite side are likeable even though they arent human.

- Battles of monster faction and human faction - Multiple stronger characters among mooks - Main character being weakened, incappable to participate - Characters from original world of protagonist have impact on the story. Its hard to find something like this in other isekais

Both are great anime within the same genre. They both have characters that get transported into a game or different world and have to find a way back home. The main difference is that in SAO it was more focused on romance, while in TKA it was more about e-sports and competition.

War in isekai world. Troubles with loging out. Threats that can destroy world. Struggle and tension. Both are worth checking out because they are branches of main series and could have been omitted.

Two medieval action stories with gore elements and a similar feel. Both anime have great visuals and shared VAs, and even though the plots and settings might differ, they feel highly alike.

-Both contain plenty of politics, and well thought out war strategy. -Both have amazing soundtracks. -Both have amazingly written characters. While both are great, Sword Art is probably more well thought out.

They both ditch the main cast, nearly entirely, in favor of establishing a new group of people that are present in the world. In Overlord II, you get insight into the lives of the people on the other side of the battles against our main characters. In SAO: WOU, Kirito, the main character, is in a coma and an all new cast has the take over. The "new" cast that takes over the  read more

If in this season you liked a war in a fantasy world, then I recommend this anime, that is most of it about wars

SAO Alicization War of Underworld and Gate are very similar in style. Their plots seem very similar while at the same time they take different approaches. Gate has a way that immerses the protagonists in a fantasy world, and they enter with their physical body. However Alicization sticks to SAO's roots and the Main Characters enter virtually. They're both great Animes.
