Both anime have the same theme: the strenght of hummanity and it's power to fight on against all odds. Both also feature a war that humanity is involved into, bittersweet moments and hints of romance; although TTLG is more over the top and comedy centered, in other hand NGNL Zero is a war drama.

Trust me this movie with a dark universe like the end of MiA will charm you ! In a world desolated by war between the magical races, the human race lead by a touching love story will try to create a new world. PS : This a prequel to the TV anime and the atmospheres are in no way related ! You can start with this movie without any problems

Pretty dark and epic, a “Zero” story that serves as the prequel but needs to be watched after finishing the main series for the best experience. Riku and Kiritsugu, the main protagonists from the two stories, are brooding, edgy, and obsessed with the idea of utilitarianism, willing to sacrifice the minority for the sake of the majority and would do anything in order to achieve their goal.

Why would these two compare? Well the plot thickens as the story develops itself. The anime are about finding love and comfort. Both heartwarming and breathtaking. While Zero has a more dark edge to it, it still holds that you will find it refreshing and soothing to watch just like Kimi no na wa. If youve seen No Game No Life you're screaming at the end of the anime. Kimi no Na Wa also pulls out that kind of emotion.

Both main characters are, by nature, locked in a confrontation with the unjust and power-oriented world around them (and not just the world: the gods themselves). They use their strength, wits, and most importantly, their integrity/resolution to wage war. And then crap hits the fan, repeatedly, and everything becomes morally gray, but (as we see in the end) not nihilistic. Yes, there is meaning in struggle, in fighting, in overcoming. Lelouch gets more runtime than Riku and Schwi, but if two full seasons were made about them, it would be just as cool. Comparisons aside, Code Geass is more of a sci-fi world while NGNL  read more

Another great story where war thrives and girl is used as an ultimate weapon ploted in romance in a first place.

Both involve robotic humanoids trying to understand love. NGNL has more fantasy themes and is set in an apocalyptic society. Chobits is more slice of life

What connects these two movies is a story about how fights against all odds for the right to survive in world seemingly trying to make them extinct. No Game No Life: Zero is fantasy story whereas Blame! is a sci-fi story. If you were disappointed by how No Game No Life: Zero did not focus nearly enough on the struggles of humanity (better bleakness, hardship, death, a sense of hopelessness for the characters) in a violent and decaying world then Blame! provides that kind of engaging plot.

-Both shows were exquisite in story-line presentation and romance. -BGMs were top-notch . -The ending is somewhat similar for both shows but in their own way. (Can't say much without spoilers)
