Both are shoujo romance anime with similar settings: a group of friends trying to help a boy overcome his past and to help him enjoy his present time with them.

If you want a good story, supernatural forces, and a tear-jerker, this is a great show.

A group of friends struggle to move on from the death of a loved one. Both are sobering, emotional stories that will light your tear ducts on fire and never let you forget the importance of quality friendships in life.

Top Wingmen/Bro-est of Bros by the male protagonists. In ReLife, it's Arata helping his fellow classmates out in their own romances and not their own; in Orange it's Suwa & Hagita helping out their own brofriend where it might sacrifice one of their futures. A true bro, one that places his bro above himself and with self-sacrifice that it's admirable and actually heart-touching (since they're not doing their actions out of the interests that'll benefit themselves but those that they're looking after).

Both Orange and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso are shoujo mangas that deal with the the juxtaposed concepts of mortality and carpe diem. The mangas contain a similar background in which the mother of the male protagonist passes away, leaving a mental scar for the character. With the help of friends and especially the female protagonist, he overcomes this loss. The secondary focus of the stories would be enjoying the time you have with your friends while you are alive. The dramas also focus on performing an specific activity to help get over the loss. In the case of Orange, the male protagonist finds  read more

- Time-travel theme, although through different ways (but both address the parallel universes theory); - Both animes have their MC trying to change the past in order to save their loved ones; - Strong bonds and comradeship in a group of friends.

Both have similar themes: a group of friends from the future send something to the past in order to save a friend from certain death.
report Recommended by Maou_heika
Both involves depression, suicide, friendship and have beautiful, positive messages in other words it shows that mental illnesses are able to overcome it.
report Recommended by Watayarata
Both have the idea of "Akai Ito" (red strings of fate), that regardless of how much time has passed, if it's meant to be, it will be.

The protagonist of both anime gets the chance to go back in time (with their own methods) to save their friend.
report Recommended by renzospark
The main character is very introverted, however she is strong and has a good heart. The story plays out in a very cool, flirtatious high school manner with a pace that is neither too fast, and not too slow. Very emotional and humourous anime.

A group of teenager struggle to save their friend(s) from the complex problem they had. Iori's and Kakeru's problem are a bit similar (their parent issue, which indirectly affected their life). Both school anime with a lot of drama. If you enjoyed one, try the other one!

Both have slices of life that dwell into Time Travel that seemly violates Einstein's Theory of Relativity and Newton's Law of Physics.
report Recommended by JiangHaoyi1979
Both have similar animation styles and soundtracks. They are centered around high school students and the circumstances are mostly normal but with a slight supernatural edge.

Both anime deal with going to the past Both anime deal with trying to solve problems in the past Orange is very heavy anime, it covers deep topics, just be warned.

both of these has great story and good events. even Orange has more complicated story, I recommend to watch it. though I dislike the genre, it's still enjoyable.

Depressing anime. Feels train. Romance is good. The MCs are very likeable. Good story.

Both series will have you laughing one moment and crying the next, and both deal with the regrets of their characters.

High School Life. Honest-to-goodness high school life with friends, transfer students and a healthy dose of not-so-straightforward romance mixed in. If this is your cup of tea, then by all means go for either show. Orange does have a little bit of a sci-fi setting (and a good deal more drama because of it), while Just Because has a perfectly normal setting.

Extramundane. Orange and A Whisker Away both follow people who transcend what is the current world order in shifting elements such as time and shape, all for the sake of someone they hold dear to themselves. Orange does this with Naho and her friends sending messages to the past to prevent Kakeru's death. Whisker Away uses Muge and her newfound ability to transform into a cat to get Hinode's attention. Both are good school romance drama anime, though Orange has shoujo elements in it compared to Whisker Away's comedic style.

For the special one. Orange and WEP both follow a group of individuals who are willing to literally mess around with the natural order for the sake of the ones they truly care for. The main difference however is how Orange does this with students in a setting much like reality playing with the concept of time for the one that was lost along the way. WEP does this to an extreme with younger female students fighting for their life with supernatural abilities for the sake of those they lost. Both are pretty good anime, one being an incredibly sweet romance for the shoujo demographic, whereas WEP  read more

Paranormal letters. Shigofumi and Orange both follow letters which have been delivered due to MCs due to some paranormal force at hand. Shigofumi uses messenger Fumika to deliver messages from the dead called, Shigofumi. Orange is the same but messages from Naho and her friends' future selves are sent back to them with the sole mission of recusing Kakeru. Both are great anime answering the question, "what would you do if this person had died?". With Shigofumi having a darker atmosphere, being a psychological drama, Orange is an interesting sci-fi for the shoujo demographic.

I find that the two anime are similar, and if you look closely, you will find that in both anime there are high school students who suffer from problems and face strange phenomena, and the hero seeks to save whoever cares about him

If you love a romance story that makes you cry. I RECOMMENND YOU, YES YOU TO WATCH ORANGE OFC. I found it enjoyable and wholesome, some parts made me tear up a little bit. There is also a movie for it too and boy, IT WAS CONFUSING but other than that try it

Time travel related - Orange is short (13 episodes) and the story takes place in high school.
report Recommended by buchyy
They both are very heartwarming stories. These 2 anime series are about losing someone very close. Even though the concept isn't the same, they are similar. If you like an anime that makes you cry this one will get you.
report Recommended by Sarix1
They have similar vibes. Both main characters are quite introverted but are trying to overcome that for the sake of their relationships. "Orange", however, touches on some more sensitive topics whereas "Say I Love You" is a bit lighter. Also, both of them focus around likable friendgroups in their highschool years.
report Recommended by homoady
Both have themes of new-found friendships and death, and involve an attempt to bring a character out of their shell. They also have a sombre feel, and do not sugar-coat the idea of loss, making them both highly-emotional anime.
report Recommended by Mitsumi_
They both time travel in a high school setting. Both the future version of one of the characters comes back to help the main character with their decisions and how his of her choices will influence the future. In my Opinion Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu is less focussed on drama/romance, but very similar in the subject of time travel.
report Recommended by Agunua
Similar feeling of realistic and likable casts Both gave me similar vibes with their first impressions Both are very calming
report Recommended by RoarkTenjouin
Similar vibe, both focus on mental health, both tearjerkers, both coming-of-age, similar episode count length, both in high school

It associates itself with overcoming mental illness, also involving science fiction.

Both of these anime deal with the every day school life with a twist. In both of these animes time is important. In Orange it's because Naho receives a letter from the future. In Nagi no Asukara it's because relationships change through time, you'll have to watch the anime for more details about that. Orange and Nagi no Asukara are both about a group of friends that experiences something out of the ordinary. Both are romantic slice-of-life anime that can make you cry. If you enjoyed one, chances are you'll enjoy the other one as well.

The main character is a cute girl (with orange hair and brown eyes as the MC of Orange) who is going to try to help her friend (a dark hair calm ikemen as Kakeru) overcome his culpability regarding the death of his grandfather. (He was supposed to look after his sick grandfather but went out and his grandfather had a stoke when he was out). There is also a love triangle: She is helped by her other friend (a hot headed friendly orange-haired guy as Suwa) who is secretly in love with her while the feelings of the MC goes towards the friend they are trying  read more

Both of these relatable, slice-of-life animes will let you ride the rollercoaster of depression and let you become invested enough to feel the highs and lows of the main character's depressing life. Perfect for emotional masochists.
report Recommended by IAmDare
Both animes have a similar ambiance. While watching Ore Monogatari I kept remembering Orange and it made me want to watch it again. Although one is more serious and one is more comedic, both are about high school friends trying to help one another, with romance and drama involved as well. I think if you enjoyed one of these you are likely to enjoy the other! Both have strong themes of friendship and empathy

Except from both being Shoujo / Romance Dramas, Bokura ga Ita and Orange have quite a lot of other similarities. The main characters are very similar: Motoharu Yano from BgI reminded me a lot of Kakeru from Orange (both experienced a tragic loss of a person, whom they loved, both are suffering from it, both are in a relationship with the main heroine, but are not able to make her happy because of the sorrow in their heart. However, Yano seems to be a stronger personality, than Kakeru), while Nanami and Takeuchi are somehow similar to Naho and Suwa. Besides that, both anime deal with  read more

The best thing about Nana is that there are a group of interesting characters and you can relate to each of their lives. It gets you in the feels and you have grown to understand why people think and do the things they do. And people learn in their own way how to grow up and make changes. Also catchy and loveable music, drama, love triangle, regrets, pain and happiness. Orange is very similar. if not, the same. Minus the music. If you want to go through the same feels, gain a smile time through time, shed tears of sadness and joy, and enjoy the  read more

Brotherhood! Both Suwa in Orange, Sentaro in Sakamichi no apollon not only have similar character designs i feel but they also have similar character. Both play critical and influencial roles for the main charcters in the plots. Both are giants, kind, good in something that have main characters trying them too(Suwa- soccer, Sentaro- jazz) and can cry!

Well, let's be honest here. Do you like love hardships? But sometimes likes to see a little more cruel side of reality? There you go, here we got two fantastic slice of life animes that never failed me to put me into tears from time to time. They differ in regards to their respective plots, and yet they both undergo through schemes of human nature thus putting in the spotlight loneliness, guilt, and selfishness. Dont get me wrong, they are not that much of realistic, in Orange we get to see a "timewavy space continum" thing that I won't explain here for you to go  read more

Both revolve around the idea of diaries and the future; in Orange the MC keeps a diary which she uses to know the mistakes she made to tell her past self. In Mirai Nikki, the MC(s) use diaries that tell them of the future. Both revolve around this but present the idea in different ways; I'd recommend watching both!
