Protagonist is reincarnated middle aged man with great strategical mind, and his action that are meant for survival are frequently misunderstood by both underlings and enemies, painting him as a big bad - entertaining for the viewers, not so entertaining for those that that had war crimes commited against them.

both anime tells about overpowered main character leading his/her troop winning combat after combat. both anime pay enough attention to the strategy of war. both main character also has this darkish feeling background.

Set during what is the beginning of a world war, the protagonists of those are powerhouse of military/fighting strenght with a curious set of morals which leads to them commiting ethically questionable acts by current standards.

Both shows set in a was era Both shows feture similar magic Both shows are heavily based on militarism Both MCs are tactical geniuses

These shows have female characters with magic powers and they are set in similar "Alternate reality World War" setting.

Both contain amazing animation, military tactics, political manipulations, and dark supernatural elements.

Series that involve grown, accomplished men, being reborn into a new world. Other worlds are less technologically advanced than ours but have magic to compensate. These worlds are transformed due to the intervention on these main characters.

While one is not a mech anime, both are more serious war stories that deal with fighting a war that is perceived as cannot be won.
report Recommended by SaintJames012
Both series mix cute girls with a gritty, military aesthetic -- although in terms of mood, they're different as night and day; G&P is a cute heartwarming anime, while YS is a dark and cynical story.
report Recommended by Havoc_Crow
Both shows explore how religion fundamentally controls people and how this leads to the halting of progress within society. The correlation being that 'knowledge is power', and without scientific advancement this leads to systemic brainwashing via religion. If you are an atheist or think religious themes in anime are interesting to dissect feel free to compare the two.

Both series feature child soldiers engaging in warfare to survive and thrive in a war plagued time.

Isekai. Tanya the Evil and MT both feature an iskeai'd protagonist making do with the new life they have, in a new reincarnation too. The trope is extremely common, so I will point out differences. Tanya the Evil is almost like a chess game with nations being in a realistic representation of war, MT being a story of one seeking to transform into a better human with their first life wasted as a neet. Both are pretty well known isekai anime. With one being an intriguing military genre, the other being an adventure that only knows of expanding such a trek.

Both anime contain brutal battlegrounds where the fighting is portrayed with immense bloodlust. Unsettling situations are shown by beautiful artwork and animation. A child is the main character in both of these shows.
report Recommended by Crystaldragon36
Lots of fighting in both animes. However, Youjo Senki is based on World War I, while GATE is a fantasy anime. Nevertheless, both are great animes and anyone interested in military based animes will enjoy them. For those who look for something lighter with more humor involved, I would recommend GATE. Those looking for pure badassery and exlposions, feel free to watch Youjo Senki. I can assure you that neither of the two will disappoint you.

The main characters are very similar, both very smart and ready to kill... They are also both very dark with a lot of death
report Recommended by Laurin
Protagonists of both shows have similar personality, and they're being thrown into the action due to circumstances while neither of them would want to be a part of it, seeking for safe and comfortable life by (almost) any means, always preferring rationality over morality.

World Wars in an alternative version of the real history, where there are flying witches with magic powers.
report Recommended by Disillusion
Both feature an alternate history look at a time close to the World Wars of our own world, with "Saga of Tanya the Evil" focusing on the actual conflicts and "Moon, Laika, and the Bloodsucking Princess" looking at the post-war period with a focus on the space race, both with a supernatural twist. The main protagonist of both shows are also some variation of "evil" from the perspective of the inhabitants of their worlds, with Tanya being a ruthless expert tactician with a flair for magic, and Irina being a literal vampire cosmonaut.

In the two animes we follow the adventures of a protagonist considered to be "evil". In Yuukoku no Moriarty our main character is a criminal and Tanya from youjo senki can do everything to achieve her goals. But throughout the anime there mentality is explained so well that you are forced to reassess your previous judgement. Both of the MCs are fighting against powerful entities thanks to their above average intellect : god in Youjo senki and the nobility in Yuukoku no Moriarty. But what’s the most enjoyable in those show is the attention to details just on example out of many: -Blue eyes for Holmes vs the  read more

Both: heavily emphasize the nature of war, are strategy based, and have bad ass main character who seek the end goal of a peaceful life.

They both draw heavily from german military history.

Both shows hook with a sadistic badass female lead and deal with themes of war, child soldiers, and morality of battle.
report Recommended by Eoku
Both have fascist military carnage and an MC who is evil, psycho, and OP.

Main character dies and gets reincarnated to another world/timeline. Plus its's an adult man reincarnated (kinda) as a little girl.

Op mc Calculating mc Cool mc Smart mc Both mc change body after death Both mc best grills
report Recommended by LBestDetective
Both anime revolve around nihonjins reincarnated as little girls with innate magical powers, and detail their rise to fame and power. Both have leadership as one of their themes. However the atmosphere is completely different. One show is near-iyashikei wholesomeness with a little drama mixed in, the other is a brutal, inhumane masterpiece.

Both Animes: - Have a Girl that can be considered Insane/Crazy - Have a Main Character that is willing to Kill for personal gain

The characters in both anime tell about unjust life & they also hate God.

Tanya is young soldier who battles for Germans in WW. The nations war is similar with guilds. Tanya is apathetic equally as Quanzhi Gaoshou MC.

-both mc are sent to another world against their will -same setting and genre

the stories aren't similar AT ALL but the MCs of both shows are underage blonde girls who are in the military bc of their good combat skills.

Extreme utilitarian gets isekai'd and commits war crimes they believe are justified means to get to their goal.
report Recommended by abystoma2
It's absolutely not same as genre or story or etc, but you will find one thing. The MC is crazy af. Yandere, yeah that's it. If Kakegurui means "let's gamble like crazy", then this anime means "let's war like crazy".
report Recommended by Heika-
Both shows has protagonist has been reincarnated to a different world agaisnt their will. Both shows has people who can use magic and who cannot In both shows the protagonist either doesnt believe/makes fun of the god. Both protagonist; smart and tacticalist. Both shows' protagonist often has bad luck.
report Recommended by alperencpt
Both are isekai anime series. While 'Youjo Senki' leans more towards action, both anime feature a substantial amount of military and civilian strategic elements, as well as political considerations influencing every decision.
report Recommended by Alexei77
Both shows - are isekai; - are focused on mind games/tactics rather than pure fighting; - have a unique art style; - have a cool loli as one of the protagonists.
report Recommended by NTaya
Both mc's are brave, independent women who fight alongside mainly men, who are often less capable compared to them. They also have a similar appearance (younger, blonde, blue eyed).

the main caracter have a weird personnality he is also overpowered and IT's AN AMAZING ANIME

both little girls in both series are like a demon in the body of a little girl. both little girls are explosive dynamite. although they are both different genre, what got in common is the feared highly volatile little girl. in both series very action are packed with intense battle one in actual battlefield the other is domestic violence respectively. if little girls did not strike you fear before, maybe you will think twice after watching either show.

Both feature a main character with a slightly antisocial personality voiced by the same VA, who is transported to another world in which a god-like figure wants to watch them struggle against an unfair environment. Both characters are reincarnated into an undesirable form that turns out to have hidden growth potential that lets the main character become overpowered, and they both just want to live a peaceful and quiet life.
report Recommended by nikarnik
(shiki) Even though the hair is crazy the characters feel like real people and think like real people even the shiki do too BUT i warn you it's slow paced at the start and you may not like that (Youjo senki) germany in ww1 with magic and a crazy little girl that's actually a business man goes around shooting people and talking about how much she hates god lmao the only thing that really connects the two anime is that people die and that they both have psychopaths and that god doesn't give a damn
report Recommended by Teto_lily5
An OverPowered protagonist, making through against the adverse conditions, both shows are unrelated and not even of same genre but both share a somewhat of similar spirit. While in Major Goro makes everyone inspire by his baseball love in Saga of Tanya , Tanya achieves things by pressing the practical issues and with almost straightforward pragmatic solution irrelevant of the consequences, in the grander scale Tanya has the win. Both focus on getting people towards a common goal while one is on battlefield other is baseball stadium.

I can't quite put to words how exactly these a similar, the brand of humor, the colourful animation and charming characters mixed with the brilliant sense of strategy just give off very similar vibes, albeit the themes of the shows themselves couldn't be much different ofc, excluding the reincarnation trope that is

Both have really similar setting and both have a young girl as the main character. War is also a main theme in both of them.

Similarities - Both MCs die and reincarnate from a modern world into ancient world - Both MCs use strategies from the modern world in ancient world - Both MCs are straight male (or at least in the past life) - Both MCs fight against stronger opponents Differences - After reincarnating Youjo MC becomes female - Youjo MC kills humans Vs. Wan Jie MC prefers not to kill humans - Youjo MC is a mortal human VS. Wan Jie is an immortal god - Youjo MC is a soldier VS. Wan Jie is a wandering god mixing with humans - Wan Jie is a cultivation/xianxia story Vs. Youjo is a action/fantasy/adventure

Similarities - Both worlds feature an enemy invasion on their kingdom - Both MCs transport into another world - Both worlds have social and military hierarchy - Both MCs are overpowered (modern tactics/inventions vs overpowered gear/abilities) Differences - Dendrogram transport into a game world VS Youjo Senki is reincarnation into another world

Because, Both of animes have some sadist characters and have psychological terms. I think, They are so good animes. I suggest both of two anime.
report Recommended by Tugra_Enes_Bal
Both series are concerned about living in a world without a God, and the MC got that. Except here, the concept is more sardonic than it is idealistic. It is also a comedy and surprisingly, not an isekai
report Recommended by LifeinTandem
These children challange godly stuff, they are intelligent and yea they are in weird universes. They are clever as hell, watch it.
report Recommended by mini_pudding
While they may look really different, both shows are situated in a war. The big diffrerence is that in Youjo senki the MC fights in the front, and in princess principal the MCs are spies. Both have action scenes and have some magical artifacts to help them fight.
report Recommended by Elzombi47
Both animes deal with inherently dark plot and have similar feels. Though the general contents of the animes are quite different the mature content and smart combat focus is present in both.

tanya and kiritsugu are very similar imo, both psychotic, intelligent, pragmatic, sad middle aged man lol though tanya may be a little more umm energetic, if you enjoyed watching one, you should the other. both animu have war and magic

Crazy girl and world domination. Also somewhat similar artstyle aesthetics.
report Recommended by abystoma2
Both animes have a very similar character. Watch to find out which one. They both include 'war', but nobody really cares about that. It's the perfectly developed characters that make the series a masterpiece.

A blond(e) and haughty youngster must make their way into the military world and earn the respect of their superiors. Lots of talking about military strategy, powerful battles and struggles for power.

- Both anime are set in a Alternative Reality (World war 1 with magic) and (Japan losing much of its area to submergence) - Both features a Protag with bad luck (Tanya and Mashiro) - Both features military weapons that are used for war - Both are based on militarism

If you are in the mood for military uniforms, rifles, and warfare, these both give off similar tones (at times). Golden Kamuy is much more focused on comedy and adventure, but the military aesthetic is strong in both. They are also both set in historical wars (though the war in Tanya seems to be a parody/alternate version of the real world).
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Zipang is a historical fiction anime set in the Second World War and following the conflict from the perspective of Imperial Japan. Saga of Tanya the Evil is an isekai anime set in an alternate universe during a reimagined First World War and following the conflict from the perspective of Imperial Germany. The main characters in both series use their knowledge of the future to change events, which may favour Imperial Japan and Imperial Germany. Anyone who likes military anime based on historical events should check out this recommendation.

A second chance to continue living after death, but with a condition: very hard fighting to survive. Main characters are being forced to kill enemies for their own lives.

A middle-aged man who became a little girl, both Ryofuko and Tanya are female children in appearance, but are actually adult men.

Both are stories of a company build up with people with superpowers in fictional versions of real life world wars. -Also, both have ridiculously strong protagonists from the start.

Although these anime are different as a genre, one is about fantasy world, another is about XX century world. HOWEVER! Both have same concept idea, and that MC was sent to another world via time travel by someone who is superior (P.S. this isn't a spoiler as long as you watch 1st episode of both). It is interesting to mention that even opening of Youjo Senki is also very similar to Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Issekai one.

This anime centers on war and magic, has a little blonde girl as the protagonist although is different in the development of the story Youjo being more mature and Junketsu being more innocent they're both great shows and fun to watch.

Both about ruthless blond haired aces rising through the ranks of their respective military factions.

While the settings and aesthetics of these animes are very different, if the aspect of having ulterior motives being "just so" misunderstood as to benefit the MC gives you a feeling of catharsis, then you'll probably enjoy both these anime. Furthermore, using knowledge from one's prior life to one's advantage in the reincarnated life is satisfying to watch. Finally: a cute blond shoujo doing cool stuff.

In summary :3 Both of the main characters spawned in different world with their old memories. Also, Both of Tanya and Shiroe use magic to defeat their enemies. Finally both of the main characters (Tanya and Shiroe) :} make good strategies and think twice before talking to reach their goals. They both known as devils lol. A Lot of points but i used the most important, realized ones However, If you like. -Strategies. -Magic. -Stuck in game style. In summary. Both of the anime shows are in old second war style ( you will get it if you watch one of em lol ). Both of the main characters try to kill overpowered character to get their revenge because he/she made them poor af. Over exciting, action a-a-and killing with cold blood... you know. Tanya and Angelo use strategies to take care of people or get promotion in their corporation. Finally they got innocent kind of stupid supporting characters. A Lot of points but i used the most important, realized ones. However, If you like. -Action. -Guns. -Wars. -Strategies while wasting souls. -Revenge and anger mode. Because winter seasons are apparently great for short dark military animes, dark settings, grey characters at the best, "realistic" magic/mecha warfare accompanied by convetional war as setting.
