- Both set of characters use their Souls for Weaponry. - Both go to an Academy that Specifically trains the Students to use their Weaponry. - Both MC, and Main Heroine are Very Powerful. -

Both are ecchi/harem anime where the main guy goes to a unique school after the loss of someone close to him. I'd absolutely (see what I did there) recommend one if you enjoyed the other.

Has similar, if not the same, feeling like Asterisk - a generic dude with a goofy LE ANIMU weapon and "special ability" is surrounded by girls with one-line personality, mostly serving as cocktease for MC. It's also set in highschool, because of course it is.

Matsuoka Yoshitsugu as the male lead. Both are MC meet a white hair girl who've taken interests in him. Same with the other girls in his harem. He has a unique power that no one else can use. Absolute Duo and Fafnir use Norse mythology theme such as Midgar, Thor, Mynior, Asgard and many more. Both anime currently airing this Winter 2015.

Both male MCs have the shield as a weapon, which make their way of fighting somewhat unique. They have a lot of females around them (harem). MCs want power to protect what they hold dear even if it means losing their humanity and becoming something even more.

Same concept of partners fighting together. Soul Eater is about humans who are also weapons while Absolute Duo is about humans who wield their souls. Romance abound in AD while comedy is littered all over Soul Eater.
report Recommended by LoidNerdy101
About weapons being manifested via souls solidifying into a state that represents a weapon of some sort. Although I've only seen episode 1 of absolute duo, it seems like a promising 7/10 or 8/10 anime series where guilty crown is a 9/10 or 10/10

The main characters enroll into a fancy school that practices some special ability's and they just happened to be surrounded by chicks with one of them being the flat chested/white haired/loli/roommate. Main characters also both have a pointless tragic past

main character goes to a High school / only people with powers can attend ......main has irregular power .. romance is based around a loli

Anime dealing with partners or Duo. They must work together in order to graduate. Uncover secrets within the school and their deep dark past. One series has human/doll with powers as partners. While the other is human only with powers as partners. Both dealing with a school competiton.

Both MC enter a magic academy after an incident occurred. They must learn how to use their powers in order to protect the ones they love the most.

If you enjoy watching fantasy school settings based around combat, be it swords or sorcery, you will find yourself enjoying Absolute Duo / Assassins Pride. While these shows are about a pair / couple fighting alongside each other in fantasy worlds' schools, the relationship is either between a male student and female student (Absolute Duo) or male teacher and female student (Assassins Pride). The look and feel of both titles have similar "dark" theme without wide open prairies with lush green fields, rainbows, or unicorns.

Male Protagonist both have unique powers even compared to the gifted students they go to school with. They are both surrounded by females that fall for him Both have ecchi elements They have a similar comedy style imo

Same Genre : Action, Ecchi, School, Supernatural Male protagonist surrounded by females. In both shows there is a fighting male protagonist and a female companion. If you like supernatural anime, this anime is recommended for you ..

These two shows are really similar. They're both set in psychotic boarding schools where teenagers are trained in combat, but still have to deal with real fights on a regular basis. They have several genres in common (action, ecchi, harem etc.) and a number of characters with similar backgrounds, abilities or personalities: Tor===>Kinji- Both have a very tragic past involving the death of a sibling, are weak on their own but have a unique ability to make up for it, are seriously lacking in confidence and soon discover their past has a connection to the heroine's. Julie===>Aria- Both are very short for their age, dual-wield swords, have  read more

First of all the concept of duo is really similar in both animes. they do use their powers together to beat their enemy & also they are paired. they can't be paired with someone else or rather they don't want to be. they both want to protect their patners also they do develop feelings & starts to live in one house or a room in both anime.

They are both a harem, school animes with Freezing having a stronger ecchi content. They are both about students with special powers that give them weapons and the two main male characters have uncommon powers to the rest Freezing has a artwork similar to that of highshool DXD, so is a bit diferent to the more moe type anime that is Absolute duo. The genre of Freezing quite diferent, it is a sci fi human versus giant alian plot type, but it still has those acadamy in fighting we see in absolute duo and the typical harem in fighting over the male character Freezing is a more  read more

An awkward but original romance is a summary for both animes. The two anime's involve an interesting plot filled with creativity and interesting characters. Both anime's have a responsible male lead with a not so responsible female lead who are forced to live under one roof. The female leads both seem like characters who have a few slices short of a loaf. They are shy characters that don't mind being seen naked or near naked. But as time flows they grow accustomed to each other. Both animes involve schools and a harem. If you enjoy innovative animes filled with romance you'll be sure to be  read more

Both of these anime's an inspiring MC that meets a white haired girl who's both quiet and a little violent. They equally amusing comedy scenes, and the conclusion for both series is heart-wrenching and headache inducing (Meaning you'll be on the edge of your seat as your heart pumps too quickly and you get headache). So really, stop reading this recommendation and go watch Angel Beats (if you haven't, it's pretty famous you know).

-Both anime take place in a highly prestigious private school -Both feature a mysterious European girl and a somewhat naive but brave and honest Japanese boy

-Both MCs are IRREGULARS at their magic high school -Girls with strong magic got their back and help them in their adventures

Both are ecchis revolving around going to a place to learn how to fight where only a selected few are welcomed. The biggest differences though is that Absolute Duo is a Harem and Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid is a Shoujo Ai

Semelhances: -Madoka Magica have the Soul Gem's and Absolute Duo have Blaze's who work in similar (not the same) way -They have girl's with magical powers -Lilith reminds me of Mami -Both have some Yuri undertones (In Absolute Duo they focus more in the main straight couple) Diferences: -Absolute Duo is a Ecchi and Madoka Magica is Mahou Shoujo -Absolute Duo is more romance

- mysterious/suspicious high school - homeroom teacher is kinda "evil" (?) - main character with mysterious and dark past - both involve episodes on a foreign island, where the students must survive

Harem atmosphere and heavy fanservice. HaGaNaI is more comedy and Duo is more romance.

MC goes to magic academy. Both are tested and divided into a group/class. All the girls fall in love with MC because of his unique powers.

Absolute Duo... Well it says in the name that these people work in pairs. It is a fighting anime with some elements of romance with a young female character. Fighting happens, and it is interesting to watch, only one season, so you'll probably have to go and read the oriinal source for a continuation. Btooom!, though spelled in a peculiar way, is also a good anime. It has fighting, strategy and is a little romance sprinkled on top to create a cliche.

In both shows, a guy has some unique talents that distinguish himself in fantasy magic academy. Both shows also give the MC a harem like 5 episodes into the show quite randomly.

Duo. Absolute Duo and Assault Lily both have the common factor of "the duo" being a major part of the story, without one, the other falters, there is no singularity, only the duo. Assault Lily isn't fixated on this way of narrative, though it does dive into the idea a lot with its whole "sister" attribute. Absolute Duo is the same though it calls the pairing a literal "duo". Both anime contain both parties swinging around their respective pair fighting enemies that behold whilst also learning about the mass magnitude of things their respective curricula permits them to. Both are good action anime, though they don't seem  read more

Male protagonist surrounded by females. Similar to any harem type anime with a bit of action and a 'saving the world' premise. They both contain use of some form of magic.

The protagonists are OP and have disturbing pasts. In addition to attracting much of the female cast around her.

In turmoil, a boy unintentionally gets a harem and fights his enemies, searching for a way to get over the loss of his lover. One is a school, the other is zombies.

Romance, action, and a harem that mostly hurts the show rather than helps it! I personally prefer AD, but logically speaking, SAO has better action. However, what AD lacks in action, it makes up for in the relationship between characters. Also, Absolute Duo, unlike Sword Art Online, has characters not suited for its genre, making it rather interesting. If you liked SAO, you may like AD.

-Both MCs go into a magic high school -Both animes are ecchi and harem -Lots of bishoujos with big breasts, dressed in hot school uniforms -The MCs can use a cute loli as a "weapon"

Main Similarities: The overall layout of the two show seems very similar. It involves the main character attending a school. It turns out that the main character is unique. The mc befriends many people (mainly girls) which ends up falling for him, creating a harem. And so on. They also share similar genres (action, harem, romance) and a similar feel. In my opinion, these two shows are examples of what a typical harem is about.

Both anime has weapons that can only be used by some people so not everyone can use the imperial weapons in AGK and in absolute duo some people can have a blaze weapon and for me Akame Ga Kill was really good for me so give it a go

Both anime involve the mc to have a special weapon (irregular weapon) DXD is a harem, ecchi type anime so if u like harem and ecchi I recommend DXD so if u like absolute duo u should try out DXD

Infinite Stratos is Absolute Duo with mechas. If you like action with a dab of romance smeared all over I'd recommend you take a jab at either of the two. Both animes start off with your average unaverage teenage boy that has a special power that others don't. They are later both forced into a dorm with a beautiful girl, which in Ichika' case is an old childhood friend, and in Tooru's case it's a girl he never met but is interested in him at first glance. The point is they both forge a strong relationship with each other. But then shazam a whole whorde  read more

- Super cute and pretty girls with similar art style (My favorites are Mio, Maria, and Kurumi in Testament, Julie and Lilith in Duo) - Great fanservice (Super heavy and explicit in Testament, so hot if you watch it Uncensored) - Strong intimate relationships that is warm and sweet (New sister family bonds in Testament, Duo pairings in Absolute Duo) - Good strong male MC AND female MC haunted by a past (Perfect for those who want OP brave guys putting up some work, and importantly BOTH male and female MC shine and has own badass powers) (As said in Testament, little sisters can protect their brother  read more

Both anime contains exceptional animation. Both anime features the main characters being able to turn part of their bodies into weapons.

These anime are similar in many ways, with the protagonist in both being OP (although to a lesser extent in Absolute Duo) and the academy setting. Where Absolute duo has a large focus on the academy life Kenja no Mago looks more at the world in which they live in. These anime both have well animated action scenes and likable characters. Both of the protagonists also only go for one girl (although in Absolute duo Harem tropes do appear). The music in both pieces aren't anything to be amazed by but they complement the action well, and Absolute Duo contains a good opening as well.

High School DxD BorN is similar to Absolute Duo because they both have the same genre and they mostly have beautiful girls.

Both animes feature a male and female character working together in a school environment that involves magic. They are also forced to live in a single dorm together. The two animes also feature a harem and a lot of action. If you were to enjoy one you'd be sure to like the other. Happy Watching~

Revenge of a student fighting for her dad (or alternately fighting for his sister). Absolute Duo isn't very strong but the theme is similar.

Characters attend special schools were students have special abilitties. Both main girl characters have silver hair.

Within one episode you can tell that the main characters will develop a special bond by the end. The romance is stronger in Clannad, but still nice either way. Also, the main character already knows who he wants to be with him, and doesn't stray from that path.

Both have a main character that ends teaming up with a girl (loli) that share the same room.

Both feature a pair of main characters of equal importance who can't do very much on their own, but are nigh-unstoppable when working together. Sora and Tor both have the same seiyuu (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) and are expert strategists, while Shiro and Julie are both quiet and reserved on the surface but sweet and loving on the inside, and are the more action-oriented of the duo. Additionally, the openings of both anime are sung by the same person (Konomi Suzuki). They also both have an improbably female cast, though "No Game, No Life" actually has even less male characters despite not being a harem anime. I'd definitely say  read more
