Although it's been quite some time since Penguindrum's incest love-tri x stalking love dazzled me, it's the only anime that truly reminds me of Tempest. They both have a love triangle at their cores that crosses over into obsessive love; a 'sister' being caught in the middle as the love of those closest to her pushes them to do anything to gain understanding and protect/avenge. There's this feeling nothing else I've watched quite captures of the balance of the bond shared between two male leads being closer than anyone, yet at risk of being damaged beyond repair by how strongly the feelings for the 'sister'  read more

Both anime have time travel theme, but one is time traveling to correct/bring back to original what shouldn't have been done while another time traveling which leads to the current state. Which is which is for you to find out.

In the greater sense, these anime are quite similar. Offering a mysterious beginning giving an unknowing and tempting view towards the viewers on what the anime has to offer. The characters will gather and head for a grand adventure, while experiencing strong friendship, or something even beyond that. An adventure with some sort of power, yet not only being tested physically but mentally too as they deal with powerful emotions. To anyone that likes a dark, complex anime that slowly gives off its secrets, I can almost ensure you will find the anime likable.

Both pieces display some plot similarities, like for instance the typical "the world is in danger" due to a virus that kills people by transforming them in crystal/metal and the hero with a mysterious deceased sister that was also connected to the other hero. Both animes have great soundtrack and character designs. I must say I enjoyed Znt much more than GC. In my opinion, ZnT is GC done right: that is, even if they share plot similarities, the stories differ completely, the direction of Znt was well executed, not containing any of the flaws, plot holes and fanservice of the former. Also, the characters  read more

Two anime fond of shaking that age-old spear that is Shakespeare. One is the loosest of adaptations (RxJ); the other takes inspiration from Shakespeare's work as it happily throws around quotes from Hamlet & The Tempest (ZnT). It's HIGHLY DOUBTFUL Shakespeare would've envisioned flying horses, trees fighting and the like. And you aren't going to find dialogue that tries to be faithful to the source material's old English roots unless you watch RxJ dubbed. BUT, both anime are tragic love stories given an anime twist, so they're still easy to link as anime.

In both: - A mysterious phenomenon takes place: In DTB is the appearance of Hell´s gate and in ZnT is the Tree of Genesis. - A group of people has supernatural powers related to that phenomenon: In DTB are psychics and in ZnT are mages. - The use of magic requires remuneration. - One of the main girls is able to use powers related to time, while other has a power that can be used for good or evil. - Both have complicated dialogues/plot and are by studio BONES. IMO, Znt had more likable and more "human" characters than DTB.

Well... + There is a mysterious disease that spreads fast and kills people. The government is doing their best to hide it. + There are two main characters, both guys. One is extremely active and loves to fight while the other one is more reluctant. + The two main characters were friends for a while but then get separated for quite a long time. Later, when one of them is in danger, the other jumps in and saves him, reuniting them. + Deals with post-modern society technology/skills. + Studio Bones and well this one is for the yaoi fangirls... + The two main characters are totally shippable.

I've just seen the previous recommendation and while I'm completely disagree with the previous person's opinion about similarities between Zetsuen no Tempest and Monogatari Series, I've remembered that I know one similarity between these two titles myself. Fuwa Aika and Senjougahara Hitagi are very much alike. They are both clever, both were the ones who actually made the first step in romantic relationships and both like to tease their respective romantic partner in a good-natured and intellectual way. I ought to say that out of all the anime I've watched, there was only one character who strongly resembles Senjougahara in terms of personality and that  read more

Both really Plot-twisty and exciting to watch. The main girl characters (AIKA, YUNO) have interest personalities and story twist is main revolved around them. The main characters really does not have any special powers whatsoever. Similar Length. Both has questionable moments about what the main conflict is as well as who or what is the antagonist. Both Mysterious. Both really underrated and overlooked animes.

Both animes explore the themes of destruction and monsters. The setting of both anime - modern day Tokyo and it being destroyed created this familiar face. Whilst Owari no Seraph has a pretty simple plot but still raises an enigmatic code, Zetsuen no Tempest has a more complicated plot because of certain plot twists. Both anime also featured two main male protagonists, who had different ideals and values and still manage to get along.

Two spiritual magic shows with very good writing, compelling story, and strong female leads. Both shows feature a male/female MC duo where the female is much stronger, but the male has significant influence over the story. both shows feature a strong array of supporting characters, very pretty animation, and clever, convincing dialogue making for entertaining, compelling shows with fun twists and fancy action battles. Despite their generic genres, both shows turn out to be very high quality in ways that these types of shows normally aren't.

I started watching K while looking for something similar to ZnT and found that it was indeed a good choice for that matter. In both shows, the main conflict occures between opposing groups who are able to use supernatural powers and circulates around a mysterious murder. Each group is led by an especially powerful or important person. Also both shows work with time leaps quite a lot. Some of the characters are kind of similar (while not from the way they look, rather from the way they act or develop, e.g. Mahiro & Yata or both of the main characters). If you like drama plots and battles with magic, and you have enjoyed one of them, you will like the other. Both animes are developed in a world of magic and feature a good set of characters, and they really have a good plot in my opinion. Zetsuen OST is way better imho (read, masterpiece) but the plot, and specially the ending is better in FMA.

Both anime are based on manga/novels written by the same author. Because both are from the same author there are a lot of similarities, such as - both dealing about something supernatural - similar characters (Aika & Hakaze are together Iwanaga; Kuro being very similar to Yoshino) - both being detective stories, although Zetsuen has just one big mystery and so on. If you enjoy one, you might consider giving the other one a try as well

- both animes deal with tragedy, supernatural things, a bit of romance and mysteries - Both stories are about the tragedy of a dead sister - both sisters were not who they seemed to be - both brothers want to revenge their sister => main difference: Zetsuen plays in today's time and takes place in Japan whereas Le Chevalier D'Eon takes place in France during a much earlier time

They both don't seem so similar in the beginning, but as you get more into the story, you can see they are both very phsycological. Both characters in the story, doesn't have a clear goal, but as it progresses it becomes more clear to the character itself and us the watchers.

-Ergo Proxy has philosophy fully associated to René Descartes, Zetsuen no Tempest is fully associated to the literature of William Shakespeare. -Both shows are about the protagonists trying to find a secret from the past from somebody which is the key to solve some mysteries in the plot (Vincent Law's past in Ergo and the murder of Fuwa Aika in ZnT). -Both series can leave you much to think about life.

Both have a similar mood and atomsphere. They both focus on groups of people with supernatural powers. Both have been adapted by BONES from a manga and feature a rather similar art style/colour scheme. Also each contain links to literacy - characters representing book authors in Bungou and the plot links to Shakespearean plays in Tempest (hence the show's title).

It has the same cerebral atmosphere, there is a lot of exposition, and it isn't something you'll enjoy without putting some thought into it. But the story is just as engaging. Where Monogatari evokes more traditional Japanese literary themes, Zetsuen takes most of it's thematic elements from Shakespeare, specifically Hamlet and The Tempest.

The characters Shizuku Mizutan (Tonari) and Aika Fuwa (Zetsuen) have very similar personalities. They both have a very repulsive attitude towards the guy they like. Neither have a clue how a relationship works. Both animes are a romance, although Tonari is a Rom-Com. They both have beautiful animation styles. I do warn you though if you are to watch Tonari I would really recommend reading the manga, as it gives more detail and finishes the story.

These two anime are so similar: 1) You would find a handsome male character who is obsessed with his younger sister and both get agitated when the sister has a bf. 2) In both anime, the first half are MUCH better than the second half. In fact, in Platinum End, the second half is MUCH slower than Blast of Tempest (which is already pretty slow). 3) Both anime involve super-nature elements yet with LOGICAL rules - this is what I LOVE about both anime. A group of people fighting through a world full of darkness and secrets. A shadow that's trailing the world hidden deep within the society. A threatening conspiracy that no one ever knew. Code Breaker possesses all these mystifying elements much like how Zetsuen no Tempest does. And in this anime as well, powers not known to regular people plays in important role in the truth of reality that's operating far beneath the facade of normal daily living. And also, the story seems to revolve around a girl whose existence has something to do in the grand master-plan of things.

They're both similar in terms of how brilliant they tackled a character's death and its aftermath. Both anime have 2 or more events taking place in different time periods, where the future time period is apocalyptic. These events are somehow connected, revealing everything dramatically at the end. Zetsuen no Tempest is a bit more deep, heavily relying on quotes from The Tempest by Shakespeare while Sekimatsu Occult Gakuin is still worth a watch with its own original storyline.

These bad bois are similar in how theatrical they get. In the most important moments, grand and momentous bits of dialogue are thrown in liberally like artillery salvos, and the main focus in the scene and action in the scene is dialogue. They give less focus to action, though it's pretty nice in both, and instead let the conflict between characters' ideas be the action directly.

Ever heard great minds think alike? Yoshino is a great thinker, just like Lelouch. Both are powerless when it's hand to hand combat but excel when out thinking opponents. Both Lelouch and Yoshino need the strong opposite in the duo. In Code Geass, ita Suzaku and Zetsuen no Tempest it's Mahiro. Also, I can see a relationship between Suzaku and Nunnally almost like Yoshino and Aika. Lastly,C.C and Hakaze are women with an ability. Without that ability they become useless and they both cling on to the thinker.

Moribito's plot starts off with a prince wanted by court assassins for being the seed of destruction. Tempest on the other hand starts with a clear friend and foe distinction, but without headhunts, just personal motivations. During their courses though, the stories' factions learn more about the foretold destruction. Initial divisions blur as the great threat occupies both equally.

Both deal with how people "think"—how they see the world from their perspective. Both are about the characters following somoenelse's "system". In Psycho-Pass, the characters follow the Sibyl system while in Zetsuen no Tempest, they think that they're in some kind of play and have to follow the script written by someone. Both are about bringing justice to the person they love. Both are beautifully written and show that we should live on our own accord. Both show the "evil" within themselves.

In brief, give it a try if you're into: atypical tales of romance, reddish haired girls responsible for churning out plot, strong usage of allusions to classical literature (see Psycho-Pass as well), gloomy gloomy moods, beautiful ambient soundtracks, ominous eyeball plants. If you're bored and wanna read something: Both Zetsuen no Tempest and Aku no Hana have very strong literary references (quoting, and relying on their respective pieces), implausible plots, and awkward love triangles. Zetsuen has Shakespeare's Hamlet and the Tempest, while Aku no Hana has Les Fleurs du Mal by Baudelaire (which personally makes me think of the gloomy baudelaire children from the series of unfortunate events, but that's something else entirely).  read more

The story of a cold, calculating protagonist's quest for revenge and all the people caught in his way; both are accompanied by a quieter friend who appears on the surface to be the shy voice of reason. There's also a fair bit of similarity between the internal family-based strife in both shows, though of course, Zetsuen no Tempest happens in a more fantastical setting and has a magic orientated plot. 91 Days is set against a gritty backdrop of Prohibition Era US, and is more liberal when it comes to killing off characters.
