Reverse harem, both main characters have guardians or familiars, the main guardian (Takuma) or familiar (Tomoe) don't seem to like the main character at first, ect., ect.

Same gloomy atmosphere and the slightly impassive romance but then the guys deserves the praises thingy XD~

Harem, boys proctecing one girl, same feeling, etc.

The female protagonists have a slightly flaky characterization to them in both otome game adaptions, but each seek out some kind of mystery regarding their past. There's also a darker side to the entire plot for each series.

Reverse harems about guys who are guarding the female in the group.

A girl finds out she is basically has god like powers and is a special person that is supposed to be protected by a group of guardians in order to protect the world. The Anime also have a similar feel about them.

These two just seem so much alike O_O Hmm Shogo family instead of sohma family? Mahiro is like kyo with the short temper and charismatic personality, bunch of weird good looking men trying to protect one naive innocent girl? Same art an feeling I think x3

Both series are presented as an anime based off of an otome game aimed at the female demographic. Both series contain the reverse harem genre as well as action, comedy, and drama. There is also supernatural elements involved.

Both the series have swords and supernatural beings. The whole composition of the series is old Japanese period. It is recommended for people interested in core culture of Japan.

Surreal battles in the woods, and main female characters that often stop the action scenes.

Bishounen boys and supernatural powers with romance

The girl is the reincarnation of a princess/priestess with amazing spiritual powers that their current self still don't know how to use. Both had a romance with a demon and their past self had a tragic ending. They both even have cute cat like demon/spirit with them.

Both of these stories contain those who are fated by blood. The art work is also similar and very detailed.

Both have some historical value about Japanese myth, demograpghic, and similar ending. Something that makes different is Hiro no Kakera's romance is going straight and foward, but Donten ni Warau have almost zero romance despite it's genre (shoujo). Then Hiiro no Kakera packed in reverse-harem trope (one girl is surrounded by many bishoujos) and Donten ni Warau is fly toward shounen tropes

Reverse Harems in both cases; and in both cases, the girls did not ask for it. Hiiro no Kakera is set in Japan while Kamigami is set in some new European-inspired world. The harems are comprised of Gods and/or spirits.

First off, I love the art in both of these animes and not just because there are many bishounen guys in both of the series, but also because of the scenery and the rich colours that were used. Both of these series revives back Japanese mythology and since I am not Japanese and knows little about the country's myth, I enjoyed learning about them. Hiiro no Kakera is light and it's directed more towards romance while Hakkenden has a darker feel because of each of the character's past. I prefer Hakkenden since I love the supernatural mix with a mysterious vibe. When I watch the  read more

Both are a reverse harem (a girl surrounded by attractive men). The major difference is that in Hiiro no Kakera they are trying to protect the girl and in Diabolik Lovers they make advances on her.

- In both stories, the main characters descend from an ancient persona. - We have spirits and characters with supernatural powers. - There is some light action and fighting to protect something/someone. - Part of the drama (if not all) revolves around overcoming the past. - There is romance (although Hiiro no Kakera is shoujo). Overall, the way the story is set is pretty similar.

Although Maid-sama is not supernatural, but rather school life, the art is very similar, they are both shoujos, the girl is surrounded mainly by boys, the girl is protected by the boy and there is a developing love story between the main characters.

Ghost Hunt doesnt really have much in common w/ Hiiro except maybe ghosts and supernatural powers. But they both have the main male lead have a tremendous power within that u dont find out until the end. The main female leads also discover their power throughout the anime, but Mai discovers her power way faster than Tamaki. And John remings me a bit of Shinji and Naru reminds me of Takuma a bit. Ghost Hunt ends with a sort of unresolved resolution though, but I loved it. It is one of a kind.

Both of these people can see the spirits that used to be worshiped but have been forgotten. Each has their own spins on the situation but both inherit their powers from the grandmother.

The both reverse harem, the boys have "special" powers and trying to protect the girl

Typical shojo animes. But Chihayafuru focuses more on Karuta matches, while Hiiro no Kakera focuses more on bishonen battles. Chihayafuru is way more enjoyable though, because Hiiro no Kakera is a bit too cliche.
