Carnival Phantasm

Both shows mixes together characters from multiple series for parody purposes. Comedy is based on those characters interracting with others and dealing with situations they would never canonicaly encounter (probably, those parodies migh technically still be canon). Both have half-lenght episodes. 

Both series are Type-Moon related franchise so expect some of the same characters to pop up here and there. But more importantly, both series are VERY funny for their humor. In fact, both series are portrayed as parodies with no direct/serious plot to the whole. There is a lot of funny dialogues as well as comedy going on. There is also the school life background where even more comedy ensures. Verdict: watch for the humor and entertainment rather than taking either series seriously.  

"When's carnival phantasm season 2?" asks fan of comedy ova. Well it ain't a season and it's under a different branding but the true spirit of carnphan lives on here 

Both anime are considered comedies based off a serious series celebrating a milestone. Both series features characters from their respective works and are a funny watch that brings out hilarious comedy to the viewers.  

If you liked the off beat comedy styling of the Carnival Phantasm, then you will like the SOL style of this show. 

Both stories are interestingly funny, could make you laugh and giggle. and both are comedic and a parody in terms in genre. 

both are parodies of very serious and dark shows both use the same voice actors and characters both are FUCKING FUNNY PS: WATCH THE ORIGINAL SHOW FIRST, as these parodies contain massive spoilers!!!!  

Comedical series with short episodes that serves as a huge crossover, connecting various works of the same author/studio into a one universe. 

This two shows are directed by Seiji Kishi and the scripts are written by Makoto Uezu. As a result we get the same random over the top humor. There are good chances that if you like one, you'll like the other. These guys should stick to comedy. I'm desperate to find something as Hilarious as Seto no Hayanome and at least Carnival Phantasms comes close even though they are thematically worlds apart. 

This is a comedy series that is primarily based off of two video game series from the company Type-Moon. Those being Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime. Before watching, you should first be familiar with the source material. Like you were supposed to have played through Chrono Trigger before watching this OVA, you should finish some Type-Moon games before watching this. So that means to play Tsukihime, Kagetsu Tohya, Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, and the Melty Blood series. It may be a daunting task, but you will gain an even bigger payoff from this than you will from just the one short OVA for Chrono Trigger. Or if you're lazy/don't have time for ridiculously long visual novels like me, you could just watch the Fate/Stay Night anime (even though it is often not preferred), and play the first two routes of Tsukihime, and maybe play some Melty Blood Actress Again. With this minimal effort, you'll still understand a majority of the jokes and still have a great time! read more 

Although Gintama is much longer in length both are extremely funny and share similar humor at times. The fate series and Tsukihime (which are the series that makes carnival phantasm what it is) are both extremely serious but we see them really happy in Carnival phantasm through humor. In Gintama there are serious arcs, sad moments are darker parts (the fate series and tsukihime) but at the same time have hilarious episodes like the ones in Carnival Phantasm. 

A slightly different side of the Fate universe. Even if you dont understand the Tsukihime references you would still probably like it due to the fate/stay night jokes 

Both are very funny. Very similar in there spontaneity and sincerity. 

Both are parodies of more serious franchises that take the characters from those franchises and puts them into a literal race against each other. 

The two are parodies, the two have a lot of comedy, if you liked Carnival Phantasm you will like Shingeki! Kyojin Chugakkou. 

Both are OVAs based in Typemoon works (Carnival Phantasm in Fate/stay night and Tsukihime, and Prisma Phantasm in Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya) and turn the otherwise grim and action-oriented plot of their original materials into gag comedies.

I would recommend the manga instead but too lazy... Both contain pretty funny scenes that you should get if your otaku power is 4000/9000 or greater. - (for intermediate / master otakus) 

Ridiculous sense of humor and good times all around. Unfortunately Carnival Phantasm losses most of it's charm if you aren't already familiar with Fate Stay Night and/or Tsukihime. 

So you remember that Doki Doki Date Plan where Shirou and Shiki run themselves ragged trying to date all of the heroines at once? Ever wish that was just an entire anime? Look no further! 

Both series take their more serious respective universes and parody them in episodic skit format. Their humor rely mostly on your knowledge of their vast canon. 

Both shows serve as crossovers for making insider jokes which require some familiarity with their respective source materials that they are making a caricature of. In the case of Kaginado, characters from various Key intellectual works congregate whereas In Carnival Phantasm, a wide array of Type Moon cast find themselves in situations ranging from funny to ridiculous. 

Both are parodical comedies that come from large franchises and both require knowledge of these franchises to fully enjoy the jokes. Both also make fun of the characters dying. 

Both are parody OVAs of big franchises. Both are best watched after you finished the main series (Tsukihime-KagetsuTohya-MBs & Fate/SN-Fate/HA VNs and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu S1 & S2) 

Even in a not-so-perfect world, these two series seem to be more well-connected than any other show on this list. Wild, zany, cute, and overflowing with energy, that's what defines these two shows. These shows are a pretty good definition of anime comedy, and if you've seen any one of them and love laughing to the point where you end up having to pause the video just to catch your breath, then stop reading and click the play button already. It'll also help a bit if you didn't take them so seriously. 

Both are OVA parodies of a larger franchise (Gundam/Type-Moon). Both are parodies purely for comedic purpose and require knowledge of the original series. Also, both feature race with the character as participants.
