If it's trying to criticize isekai settings, then why does its setting barely resemble any isekai out there? I can't name a single isekai which actually goes out of its way to glorify what you're talking about. "pinpoint-accurate" my ass. So instead it creates a nonsensically dystopic Handmaids Tale-esque shithole and says

"See... This - is what the average isekai setting totally looks like. Look what those losers want to live in! Tee-hee-hee! It would be sooooo awful for women to live there, riiiight????"

Really? Then name me a single isekai setting which actively prohibits women from being adventurers or in positions ...

A novel by Kinoko Nasu himself giving us more about Artoria and her knights? And it doesn't have the excessive fluff that plagues the VN? Hell yeah!

I like how it's made of short retellings of key moments from Arthurian legend (most of them don't go beyond 10 pages, but it's narrated well enough that it feels satisfying and doesn't fall short). The prose is beautiful (shoutout to the English translator) and you can immediatly tell who's narrating without it saying "Heya, I'm Lancelot, here's my story".

This ending and the writing as a whole was much more satisfying and easier to feel immersed/engaged with than the anime. In a similar sense that the anime was able to portray and discuss things that are harder to do in a manga, the manga was able to do things that it seemed the anime would not have been able to do. I find myself just staring for a couple minutes at a page or two, enthralled, absorbed in the world, art is gorgeous. Maybe given the authors background in design, the framing and page composition are on another level. Beautiful Mucha inspired flourishes around the page, frames breaking frames, breathtaking spreads. Despite the ethical concerns that comes with student-teacher relationships (that are strangely normalised and highly employed in Japanese media) I quite enjoyed this manga's premise: the central mystery of what the main character's sister was doing in the concept maid cafe store and whether she was 'happy' despite sacrificing much of her youth for her younger brother's education. I especially think the interactions between the two main leads and their misunderstandings are quite fun to read and quite funny as well. honestly, Frustration was the only feeling I could get throughout the majority of the volumes, frustration at my self for still reading this crap and at the author for bulying these characters. What drew me in was the drama of this story, they over the top unpredictable drama. however, the more and more I read the story my more depressed I grew, especially concerning Hina's feelings. I don't think there is a single person that read through this and did not the the author had it out for Hina, as if ... she hated the character. Loving someone relentlessly is not easy, but what Hina did through the story was impossible, but maybe thats the point T_T. love is powerful?

My major grime with the story is just that the author spends 40% of the manga on characters not directly related to the progression of the story. this made it harder to read at times but in some cases gave me a greater understanding for who the characters were. The main cast, hina, rui, and natsu were given so much life throughout the story, however hina was the best written character throughout the whole story. Right person Wrong time, type of situation arose between Hina and natsu and it was up to her to make that decision, many decisions, sacrificing her own selfish needs for love for the future of the one she loves, over and over and over. Despite Hina being such a good character, overall I cant really say the characters in the series were that good. I mean, we had unnecessary characters littered throughout the story, simply to make Rui jealous or to ad another fucked up dimension to the manga. he goes on a blind triple date and picks up a drug addict only to be saved by his yakuza gay friend, Does that not sound ridiculous? of course I loved it however.

Wow. just Wow. I have never... No one has ever seen a story start out like that, plus points for being completely new and unique but.. The story lacks in pacing. During the manga, certain things would happen so fast and then you would get the most useless side character development arc for 5 chapters straight. If the story was 50-70 chapters shorter, I feel as if this manga could have been perfect. It could have simply been a tragic story on the pains of love, but no, its that, but 70 extra chapters of unnecessary dialogue and characters thrown randomly throughout the story. also Rui and Natsu's trip to the cabin in the winter. I give it a 7.5 because it really could have been perfect, and touched my heart in that fact but ruined it with adding toooooo much.

art: 7.5
really... nothing special. But it does get an extra half points because of the wide panel shots that can be really, shocking, beautiful and disturbing throughout the series. My only issue with the wide panel shots is that they do it for almost every unnecessary kiss scene.

enjoyment: 10
I have a love hate relationship with the series. The tragic story of Hina, akin to 'garden of words' , and the coy romance between rui and natsu grabbed my attention and my apreciation for these characters deeply. Because of this deep appreciation, every dramatic drop, every wide panel, every drop of blood had me appalled, confused, and excited, nothing short of perfection for how I personally enjoyed the series. I also cried closer to the end brrrr.

OVERALL: 8/10.

I can understand people giving this a 6 or a 7, but anything above an 8 you are lost, and anything below a 6, you probably couldnt get through the more weirder parts of the story, overall missing a great and tragic romance. just because of some niche dislike you shouldnt give a series a 1 or 2 out of ten with a long ass review.

There is not much inside of this manga other than the main character's love for each other... and I think that's why it works. There is no grand attempt of dispelling between 'right' and 'wrong', they love each other, and that's the simplest way to put it. One boy is scared of corrupting the one he loves (how much should he be able to take, how much should he be able to love?), and the other is fueled by desire bursting at the seams.

If I could give a piece of advice to people going into this like I did, it would be this: don't expect Berserk. I hyped myself up into thinking that this would be another Berserk, only a lot tamer when it came to violence. That mainly comes from seeing members in the Death Battle community hope for a fight between Clare and Guts (and then being really disappointed when Guts fought Dimitri from Fire Emblem). It's not as good in my opinion, but by no means is Claymore bad.

For starters, and perhaps the largest reason why the Berserk connection was made: this art is PHENOMENAL. ... There is so much detail put into every panel. The landscapes, the character designs, the creature designs, all look amazing. There are few manga I can name with such amazing artwork. I haven't done so as of writing this review, but I plan on making a tab with some panels that I really like from the series (which will be kind of small, but only because there's a surprising amount of boobs in a series readily available on Shounen Jump). Easily the best part of this series is how freaking beautiful it looks, and that extends to the action.

A lot of the series, especially in the latter half, is fight scenes against creatures known as Yoma. With those plentiful fights come plentiful moments of great combat. Each monster has unique ways of attacking the Claymores, and each last for a fair amount of time. They rarely do the trope of nearing defeat before revealing a new form or attack; in fact, I think that only the final antagonist has some variation of it. On top of that, each of the Claymores have distinct face and hairstyles, making them easy to tell apart during the combat.

Finally, there are some really fun characters sprinkled throughout the story. My favorites were the Claymores Helen and Deneve, who have a friendship where they tend to butt heads a lot. I'm glad that the two of them were featured a lot as the series went on. There was one scene I enjoyed where Helen was getting drunk and argumentative, which led to quite a bit of humor.

Unfortunately, not all of the characters were that interesting. I said that the designs were unique, but not many of the personalities were. The premise is this that there are nearly 50 of these warriors, so of course not all of them are going to be featured, but so many names get thrown at you that they all end up blending together. And with that, many of their personalities get lost, especially when compared to other characters.

Also, Clare was pretty disappointing as a central protagonist. She has a good backstory, and a few character moments at the end were interesting, but otherwise she just fell flat. So many other members of the cast stood out over her, whether in personality or in arcs. Even her design was one of the more boring ones. There are several chunks throughout the story that take focus away from her that I found easier to get into because someone else was in the center.

Finally, the story didn't hook me as much as others. There are plenty of cool moments, and when I got to the last stretch it was quick to get through. But when I think of other series I've read, especially my favorites, I think of how gripping they were and how hard it was to set it aside to do something else, even important stuff like eating or sleep. I started Claymore at the end of last year, and there was a point where I put it down and didn't return to it for a couple months. I don't think I ended up forgetting something that is the major difference between liking and loving the series, but I still lost interest for a while and prioritized other stuff. It also doesn't help that Persona 3 Reload came out during this time, a story I ultimately enjoyed a lot more.

Claymore is a bit of a commitment. By no means is it as demanding as, say, One Piece, but if you want to finish it you have to dedicate some time. And there may be things you are dissatisfied with. I also thought that a major element of the world could have been explored some more, but it quickly became a footnote in what was going on. However, if you're a fan of beautiful art and action, and you can put in the time to see it through, then this is something I'd recommend. Especially if you're a fan of intricate monster designs.

What mangaka Ookubo Atsushi is really good at is making unique setting and in this case you got Halloween vibe to mesmerize you. The way he being creative not only the setting but also character design that really blend with the Halloween vibe. But what stood out the most about the manga are the power system. I like the idea of a person turn into a weapon and you need the partner to be compatible usually base on their personality. The art style also drawn you in when character goes crazy and the expression really make it easy to understand what their feeling are.

However that ... is the only positive, now let go to the negative starting with the plot. It not that it generic thus it bad but it really messy to a point it more of after thought rather make it flow naturally example we being told that if the kishin resurrect it will bring madness and people will go crazy but it didn't happen until the final arc that you start question why the kishin is the bad guy? where the effect of the madness that we being told about?. Don't know .This tied to the main villain kishin asura, He not a character but just a plot device. You literally change him into a Bom and will not change the plot. The other villain also a let down especially medusa who a master mind in the plot but turn out just a one dimension villain that want to destroy the world just because....she want to. Character that were kill also didn't evoke emotion like there this guy who have a power to find the villain that hide in the city but he got kill and that it. We never see other character get a revenge for him and soon got forget by the plot. The plot armor also get annoying as the story progress example when the MC fight this dude (KIRIKO) that manage to beat MC and about to kill them but then all sudden his hatred or something got so huge that his soul could not contain it and kill the dude....WTF just happen???. There also the late introduction of character at the last arc that I just don't give a shit and while the ending much better than the anime but it still bad because it didn't solve the conflict but return to status like in the beginning, what I mean is how the MC defeat the villain, well by seal him back of course. Genius!!. Heck even if you ok with it, in the last chapter the writer make stupid joke that ruin the tragic tone that it create like for example when kid find out that the shinigami dead he start crying but then there this character that interrupt him and make the scene have a tonal whiplash which is bad. Also what with the boob joke at the end chapter, it like the writer think it will be funny but instead ruin the ending of the series.

In conclusion, Ookubo good at making unique setting and power system but fell short on the other department. If you ask me which is better the anime or manga, I suggest follow what you like the most because there both will get bad. My advice is to watch the first half of the anime and don't bother anything else.

Sui's philosophies are dripping throughout, with compelling and believable characters and intriguing narratives.
Ken is a protagonist who is easy to root for. He isn't perfect and doesn't fit into any of the too-common tropes in many mangas out there. This story is the journey of how he finds happiness in a cruel world.
I disagree with many people saying that the ending was too rushed. In fact, I am very glad that Sui didn't drag out the story with more subplots.
The idea that connection is what drives us, and choice is a gift, is beautiful.

I adore short stories like these. Seemingly mundane, daily scenes with a touch of melancholy...and then - a twist. Each of these six stories follows this formula, and most of them succeed in pretty much perfecting it.

Here's my personal rating of each of the stories:

#1 Shiki no Zenjitsu: 8/10 Intimate, unexpected, serene in a very particular way. An emotional opener that fulfills its role perfectly.

These kinds of "reincarnating/transmigrating into a novel/game as a child character and I'm doomed if I don't change the original plot" stories usually have a critical flaw, and that is whenever the "original story" has changed for whatever reason the main character would still be in denial that the story has changed enough despite OBVIOUS signs that whatever it is they're worried about will not happen. The story changing is not the issue, the issue is either the main character is worried for nothing OR it is made too obvious to the readers that their worries are unwarranted.
Now why did I opened my review with ... this? Because I am happy to tell you that [The Archvillain's Daughter-In-Law/I Became the Daughter-in-Law of the Villain Because I'm Terminally Ill], for the most part, doesn't have this issue.

What stands out to me about this series compared to others of it's ilk, is the fact that even after 2 seasons in, I still have no idea whether the title character "villain" will stop his plans or not despite all the changes the heroine has made; the "original story" is no more, but even then this man have good reasons to stay on course (I can't explain without spoiling, but I assure you it makes sense). Thereby all her worrying and entertaining antics are warranted, because for all she and we the readers know, she is not in the clear just yet.

There's plenty of other things to enjoy from this manhwa:
- The female lead is refreshingly not your typical goody two-shoes, nor is she a vengeance fueled villainess, nor was she abused in her previous life, nor is she unapologetically malicious and evil (okay maybe a teeny tiny bit of the last one); Laria is charmingly balanced, she helps or manipulate people when it's to her benefit yet at the same time to others' benefit, she smartly drew a line early in her futile attempt to prevent raising a flag with the male lead, and her shenanigans often results in comedic outcomes.
- The art is really cute. I'm spoiling a bit but there's a touching scene after a timeskip that mirrors an event early in the story, and I'm a sucker for those kinds of panel.
- The comedy is a tad hit or miss, but if it's a hit for you then generally it will be entertaining.
- The story itself is pretty compelling, especially the duke's motives and backstory. Unfortunately if you're looking for the typical doting father archetype usually found within these sort of manhwa, you won't really get one here.
Little duke and his wife's relationship are endearing and mostly heartwarming, you can't help but to root for this poor boy who knew nothing about what's going on between his father and Laria.

This is a good and enjoyable series, especially for fans of the kind of stories I mentioned in the beginning, would recommend.
