Both of these manga come from the same writer/artist combo (who also made Bakuman), and both have a somewhat dark tone.
Both manga have supernatural beings (a shinigami in DN, an angel in PE) that give the protagonist their powers (arrows and wings in PE, the Death Note in DE) and follow them around. Also, the protagonists of both series are aiming to become God.

It's kinda obvious at some point but I don't see a lot of ppl talking about this so here let's start very straight up and simple!
1. It's the same both artist and writer so it looks like Death Note to its core.
2. It looks like Death Note but it's the opposite! Why? Instead of a world with God of Deaths.. In Platinum End We have Angels! And for me just thinking about that in a way that could never happen in Death Note in here exists and that's why this very work gains its unique and gimmick for the reader.

It's from the same Mangaka "Tsugumi Oba and Takeshi Obata". It's a different Story, instead of Shinigami's we've got Angels and the MC is depressed what you want more.
