Just like Toei Animation's AIR movie, the CLANNAD movie is an adaptation from Key's game. Both movies have something about them that stands apart from the TV series adaptations by Kyoto Animation, making them very special. If you've already seen the AIR movie then you should know what i'm on about --- experience that again with the CLANNAD movie.
Both protagonists are Kūdere and both female heroines warms up to them despite their personality. The cool, empty yet fulfilling atmosphere are the same in both anime. both anime are almost identical to each other in every way.

Both the Air Movie and Clannad Movie have a very similar way of telling their adaption of the love-story, and present their drama in the same way. The colors, character design and animation are also strikingly similar in both cases. If for some reason you enjoyed one of these movies more than the original series, you'll definitely enjoy the other movie as well.
Despite the fact that the kyoto animation counterparts may be more iconic, these movies are made by toei animation as alternatives to the series in a movie format rather than the usual TV format.
The stories aren't exactly the same compared to the tv version but the characters and some key parts remain the same
