Both have characters who can manipulate their blood to be used as a weapon. DMWL is more of humans fighting humans, and kyoukai is humans and "demons." Both have action, blood, romance, drama, and psychological themes

In both, the protagonist has the power to control their own blood and use it as weapon. The art styles vary dramatically (DmW is seinen while KnK is shounen) and DmW has more horror, but they both have a decent amount of drama. Both of the other protagonists who do not have the power to control blood have powers as well.
Both have the following similarities:
- Protagonist who can control blood and doubt what is right.
- Revenge for loved ones
- Fight to get money.
