Both animated and directed by Production I.G. who give these movies great depth and insight into future political turmoil. They both share a very similar style, atmosphere, use of music and fantastic animation. Although the stories may differ, they together create the same feelings and deserve to be seen.

Both movies center around japanese policing units and politics as well as the psyche of humanity. Jin-Rou and Ghost In The Shell were made by the same producers and studio. They feature similar futuristic settings and similar animation.

Both are works of Mamoru Oshii, a master when it comes to slow paced shows. Even though they have very different stories, there are a lot of similarities because of the slow pace, great action scenes and a well thought story.

While in two different setting and essentially pursuing two different ideals, both Jin-Roh and Ghost in the Shell have the cop/military setting and focuses on one person and their interactions and the connections they form. It also uses these connections to define a core philosophy that each protagonist uses to form/destroy their individual identity. Also they have similar atmospheres and make you think. So if you liked jin-roh for the philosophy, then Ghost in the Shell offers good food for thought as well.
