Both of these anime have a very western feel. They are gothic, bloody, horror fantasy anime with very detailed art and amazing atmospheres. They both have amazing soundtracks, courtesy of Marco D'Ambrosio and Susumu Hirasawa, who I'm sure poured their heart and soul into composing for these anime. Bloodlust actually started production around the time Berserk was airing in 1997. If you love one you'll love the other.

The protagonist is cursed since his birth, he is a skilled and lonely swordsman who does not know the meaning of happiness. During the journey he encounters a group of hunters/warriors and among them there is a single woman who is strong, fearless and driven by a traumatic past that made her stronger.
A medieval world with technologies similar to our current ones, supernatural creatures, fights and wars. If you liked one of these works, you should watch the other one.
