These two shows both deal with the supernatural mixing a modern world with the traditional Japanese style.
In both we see a young man that, of necessity, becomes the assistant of a mysterious "doctor" who deals with strange cases using unconventional methods. The young man is then immersed in this new parallel reality where he meets all kinds of oddities.
You wonder why is this same because its like student and master relationship like there similar. Except its about curing the mysterious diseases like the student help the master or the doctor because the doctor save him. It is pretty much similar.
