Angela Beats is the more shounen friendly version of Elfen lied. WHY!? there are no similarities! Yes there is. Both AB and EL have the same core when it comes to the characters.
Both have Characters that either had or are having a SHITTY life. a life of pain and suffering, and those charathers are fighting for just one little bit of happines.
The 2nd and only anime that nearly made me cry, elfen lied being the only anime to ever do so... Gotta rewatch it again someday...

Are you a fan of Drama? you have to watch both animes. They are not the typical drama, they mix gore (Elfen Lied) and comedy (Angel Beats) , but they don´t forget to make you cry T^T, if you are a person able to cry and to try new things you will enjoy both of this animes.

Revenge. It may seem like a strange connection, but Angel Beats and Elfen Lied focus a lot on revenge for a being(s) that has given the MCs an excruciating life.
AB follows dead students who take a plan to get revenge on God, for the tragic life they have obtained from God. Elfen Lied, follows diclonius Lucy who has been oppressed and experimented by humanity for who she is. Later on in both anime, they also both use romance as a way to help troubled individuals in the world find the correct path in life.
