Different premises but both series adapts a shoujo manga involving lives of two main characters. They get off to a rocky start in the beginning but their relationship gradually develops over time. Love triangle should be expected along with other characters that gets involved in the story that affects their relationship. Both series has a lighthearted mood although there are moments when emotions takes hold. Recommended for fans of rom-com.
While watching Ao Haru Ride I couldn't stop remembering parts of Lovely Complex. Originally the story is different, but the:
*hate/love relationship between both protagonists
*"I don't think I love him, because I hate him, but I actually love him" way of thinking by both anime girls (and their reluctant attempts to catch their beloved ones' attention)
*protagonist boys from both anime tease both girls for not being the feminine type and there is a notion that they do not see them as 'girls'
*fun, charismatic and adorably romantic feeling throughout both animes simply make the viewers long for sweet sweet love.
