Both anime revolve around a non-human entities disguising themselves in a human dominated world. The entities from both anime devour humans for food. Similar to Tokyo Ghoul, The protagonist of Claymore is part human and part Yoma. The main difference is that Claymore is a lot more action based than Tokyo Ghoul.

The monsters appear to be human/ disguise themselves as humans. The monsters eat humans. Main male character in both anime have a similar personality. Main female character in both anime have a similar personality. The two main characters in both anime have a similar relationship. Although Tokyo Ghoul is a more popular anime than Claymore, I would say that Claymore is a lot better in terms of character and story wise. The characters in Claymore have interesting backstories, some of which are upsetting and it certainly makes the anime interesting and emotional. In Tokyo Ghoul I didn't feel any emotion or any particular attachment to the characters or the   read more

Claymore isn’t as popular as Tokyo Ghoul even though they’re both pretty similar. These animes have a horror/gore/mystery genre because they have monsters feeding on humans. The fighting scenes in these series are pretty epic but there’s more action in Claymore. There’s a little bit of romance but very minimal because it’s more focused on the horror part. The protagonists, Kaneki and Clare, are on in conflict with themselves and with other monsters because they are half monster half human and they have almost the same personality. Not only that, they both have crazy powers and strength. The main difference is the setting. In Tokyo Ghoul,   read more

Both Series have similar themes. Whether it be monsters eating humans, or humans becoming monsters, both are similar in the sense they have a lot of conflict and fighting, as well as great character development. The biggest difference between the two is the setting(s).

I do not know if Claymore is an anime that is well known among anime and manga fans but it definetely worths its place in this list. This anime also poses the question of being claymore(half human, half yoma{yoma:monsters that take the form of a human,in order to devour them})or being transformed in a complete yoma(awakened being,if I recall correctly). The protagonist of the series is a young claymore,Claire(only women can be claymore, however there were cases of men being claymore but they were all failures)so it also shows that women can be badasses just like men.The anime is a bit old but me,not being a fan of old   read more

the reason I recommend tokyo ghoul for claymorel watchers is that eventhough I have not finished claymore yet I can see that they are similar in the way that they are both sad and depressing as hell. Yet, exciting and nice to watch.
