These two anime display some similiarities:
- In both humanity is at risk at being owned by non-earthian beings.
- Earth's technology is very weak comparing with the techonology used outside the Earth.
- Urobuchi Gen ("Urobutcher") is part of the anime staff.
- Male protagonist is cool, calm and collected.
Both share visually the same similarities of unique elements such as having the feel of space, mecha, sci-fi . War is involve and there's a struggle of trying to survive and help each nation to defend themselves from outer conflict. Protagonists also develops really well and is very likable in most of the story. Both stories deal with trying to solve problems and restore peace instead of fighting. There's a lot of action that will keep you on your toes. If you're a fan of sci-fi and action blended with suspense/thriller, both are definitely worth checking out. Highly recommended for sci-fi fans!

Suisei no Gargantia and Aldnoah Zero both convey the sci-fi theme with its setting and characters. In particular, the main male protagonist has a strategic mind and is adapt at piloting his mecha during warfare. And speaking of which, humanity becomes endangered when an invasion takes place that threatens their very existence.
Urobuchi Gen is involved as part of the staff so expect some familiarity with the presentation. Throughout both series, there are secrets that invites questions. Recommended for mecha fans and anyone into sci-fi gimmicks.
Both main characters are very intelligent and skilled in combat they are also calm minded so much that they seem emotionless to the things around them.
Both series involve a inferior race that are fighting a more intelligent and developed beings. Both have amazing animation and clear visuals to every little detail, these two series also have Action, Mecha, Si-Fi genre elements.
