Death Note's most pervasive and most well acclaimed element is the mental chess game that is battled between L and Light (kira). In all honesty, they're not super similar. However, they both have two main characters who interact with each other frequently despite being pitted against each other. Along with this, both anime deal with a lot of deception and moral analysis. I really liked both shows, mainly for the reasons listed in both cases, so if you like one of them and haven't seen the other, give it a go.

Aight, this might seem far fetched, but the sole reason why I loved 91 days as much as I did was because of its "death note-esk" friends but enemies character dynamic. If you found that aspect of one of these good, you will probs like the other. Both also have a good amount of death, plot twists and mind games.

Both are crime thrillers with an almost entirely male cast, where anyone can die at any point, as our young protagonist enacts deadly schemes that are as convoluted as they are ruthless.
