- Both have a main character who has returned to a town they lived in as a younger kid (although the main Character has forgot what happened there) - Both revolve around the emotions and past of other characters - both are emotional (although I'd say that Kanon is more emotional)

Well similar plot line is one point. Lead male returning to the town once he lived in. Reuniting with his childhood friends who now have miserable lives. Plus both stories have characters that suffer from amnesia. There's nice amount of drama in both shows. The Kanon male lead is much interesting compared to his counterpart in myself yourself. :D Anyway, if you liked Kanon then Myself;yourself would be a nice time-pass.

Kanon 2006 is basically a better version of Myself; Yourself. First, we have a highschool main character that has returned home after leaving as a child. We have lighthearted, romantic side-stories that keep the show interesting. This series was animated by none other than Kyoto animation: THE studio for highschool romcoms. If you liked that aspect of Myself; Yourself, you'll love it in this anime. We have drama. Kanon has 20-something episodes and M;Y has 13. You do the math. The viewer gets to spend more time with the characters which is something that I feel like Myself; Yourself was lacking. Might I mention that there is a recurring   read more

The main protagonist of both shows leave their home towns as children only to return a couple of years later in High school. Both regain their memories of their past lives as the shows progress and both reunite with their childhood friends. There are some good drama scenes in both shows and an average romance to go along with it. I liked the art of Myself; yourself better, with more different locations and colours. Kanon on the other hand is 11 episodes longer than myself; yourself, giving time for the character developments of more characters. Kanon is a bit more of a harem than myself;   read more

Both stories have the theme of "guy returns to his hometown after years of absence". The protagonists rekindle friendships, and live their old-new lives. Both are high school stories from the 2000s with the good ole' repeating theme of appearing at first as romance stories, but they're actually giant past tragedy stories that are like huge blisters on the feet that just pop one by one. During the shows, the characters begin to reveal their awful pasts and tragedies.
