The story progresses the same you know. The main reason because both start with an awesome plot of combats until the characters reach the top. But it is not seen completely because the plot decides to go to another route. So there will be a bunch of side stories than just wathcing the plot they have stated in the first episode.
By the way the first episodes of each one is almost the same I recommend it if someone wants to watch it.
