Both portray socially awkward characters who don't have any friends. Their goal is therefore to find some, creating at the same time comical situations. At each episode, they try to imagine what popular people do, and practice doing the same as they do in hope to become popular too.
The two anime also have a similar setting: the main storyline takes place in a high school, and it's two slice-of-life comedies.
There's also a connection between the two characters Sena and Tomoko, who are both otaku who share a passion for VN.
