Both have a retro style look and both have stories that begins and ends in the same episode. Protagonists are alike, Ryo Saeba and Spike Spiegel are cool, a little lazy, little comic and use a gun as main weapon. Also, Ryo Saeba are more comic and perverted.
As Cowboy Bebop fan i find that City Hunter is similar to it in may ways such as :
- Both have cool aesthetic art .
- awesome soundtracks .
- goofy main character who are skillful shooters .
- each episode is different than the other which make the viewer have fun and never get board of watching it .
- the type of adventures and sense of humor is the same in both animes .

- Both have ultra-chad moments.
- Chad protagonists with great battling skills.
- Both protagonists have fundamentally similar occupation.
- Dynamics between characters are presented nicely.
- Episodic.
- Of course Cowboy Bebop has a more mature tone, yet both have somewhat similar vibes.
Basically, City Hunter is like a more comical and lighthearted version of Bebop. It feels like City Hunter more or less influences Bebop, intentionally or not.
